How do you guys feel about Myers Leonad so far???

I for one have hate him right now haha

He just hasnt shown anything this month. I mean I just don't think we had to waste a 11th pick in a loaded draft on him. If we wanted an athletic 7footer we could have kept Chris Johnson. Or just signed Hasheem Thabeet or Hassan Whitside. He just has been a useless out there. Just a body.

I mean so far he has shown that he is athletic, and a pretty touch. Thats it... I mean he doesnt rebound well or defend well. I had a fun, good debate in the Blazer chat with Raptors.

    Your Thoughts??

20 years old.. only rly 1 yr playing at illini.. probably only 3 full years of his life being over 7 foot... A rookie.. Low playing time... Already knew he was very raw even b4 drafting him

I mean I've said all of this b4 but to no reply.

When's the last time you saw a rookie center drafted and actually play their first year, I mean you personally btw.. Not trying to be rude, but to be honest the amount of impatience among these boards, killin me.

It takes time to develop a Center. I think even now if he was 26 or 27 he would still be a decent enough bench player on a team. I liked Hasheem too, actually. But unfortunately, same thing with him. Nobody wanted to take the risk on buying time in patience for a player to reach their potential. Everyone gave up on him early, and suddenly OKC loves him.. coincidence? And Leonard is actually far better than hasheem in his first year in the nba, lol. How's andre Drummond doing? or wait how about that guy from Duke, what's his name again? those were the three centers drafted in the first 18 picks.. right? Lol

Hate a strong word but, you have the right to feel that way I feel Leonard was the right pick you have a guy who pretty much learning on his own so it's no surprise to me that he's having the season he's having and let's not forget our future ROY Lillard was asked who he want to have with the 11th pick and he said Leonard.

The last time I checked Anthony Davis hasn't be setting the world on fire like everyone thought he would and where is Chris Johnson I don't even know what team he's playing for, what about Tyson Chandler I rarely remember his days as a Chicago Bull when he was a rookie and lets not get started on GO and as BLASER mention Andrew Bynum took awhile to be the player he is, as the seasons went on the last three I mention made impacts on their teams Tyson started to become that defensive player we see today, GO before the injury was starting to become a game changer and Bynum had his two best seasons these past two years patience is needed when it come to big men it's not like Leonard is going to be the next Kwame Brown.

When we drafted him, Olshey said it'd take 2 years. That hasn't changed.

Meyers is more then raw. He's definitely going to take a long time to develop, which is why we went after Hibbert so hard in free agency. And really, no rookie picked after Meyers has taken the NBA world by storm. At the time, I was hoping for T. Jones or Lamb but I'm still impressed with Leonard's athleticism. The only thing that stings a bit is this year's draft class is LOADED at center.

Meyers is giving us exactly what I expected: highlight dunks and a bunch of fouls. If all of his points are dunks and free throws for his entire NBA career, I really don't mind. If he doesn't develop into a starting defensive and rebounding presence, I'll be disappointed. I definitely expect him to be the starting center eventually, and be blocking dwight howard's shots as well as keeping several possessions per game alive with offensive rebounding.

I hope Myers will turn it a defensive rebounding presence also but I would be surprised if he does not.

If Myers can add a defensive impact and can score a few points each night coming off the bench that would be perfect, our bench is what we should focus on more than anything right now

Myers Leonard was a good pick. He already has a nice touch around the basket. He needs to develop his defensive and rebounding skills first then work on his back to the basket moves. Once he has those he is potentially both a great defensive blocker/rebounder based on his athleticism and an excellent contributor on the offensive end. His brain needs to get up to NBA speed and while that doesn't happen for every rookie I've seen improvement game to game and I am very hopeful about Myers future. Having JJ Hickson at center until Myers is ready is a great position for the Blazers to be in.

my biggest issue with meyers leonard is he seems to shy away from the ball when hes going to block a shot he turns his head idk if you can fix that its kind of a reaction thing but i do know its alot harder to block a shot if your not looking at the ball

No doubt. I think he's thinking too much. He needs to take a page out of Batums defensive handbook and stay down on pumpfakes.

I think both freddead and commontongue are correct. I remember when Oden was starting out he had coaches working with him constantly on improving his game. Is Leonard getting that same treatment? I remember Maurice and Buck Henry as big man coaches, who is doing that on Stotts crew?

Sanders is a good fit, like to run, Pretty much the same offensive game as JJ, except JJ is a little better around the rim and has that close-mid range game. I think Henson is decent too. I didn''t get to see a lot of his game, as he didn''t play ...
