Utah is not in any way better, just saying. They were a playoff team/made it to the semi-finals; haven't won a playoff game since he has left. Sure they have Kanter & Favors, great. But that's not championship status, unless a marque SF & PG head over to their team they got nothin moving forward right now. This blazer team is miles ahead of that team in terms of future AND contention.

Now I guess they are better in the sense that Deron made it obvious how unhappy he was, so getting rid of an unhappy player is a wise move before free agency comes. But otherwise it was in no way a "move the needle" type trade.

And there must be some Aldridge that I'm not watching. Cuz when I watch I don't see a player that doesn't try, hustle, or play solid defense. I actually see just about the opposite

The only weakness that i dont dig about La's game is his lack of rebounding, when we play a team like the lakers it really shows, cause they dominate us inside, and he ends up with only 3 boards, but other then that his game is tight

Are the Blazers shopping LA the answer is no but they are certainly willing to at least listen to offers.

Does LA want to be here it looks like he does.

Is he is a good player? Of course.

The question is can we win a title building around him? I am not convinced, Fanatic and others certainly are. There is no way to know who is right or wrong.

At this point the discussion should be if we can't win a title with LA what realistically can we get for him and how would that help us get closer to being a contender. On the other side for those that believe LA is worth building around what can the Blazers add to this team that would elevate them to contenders.

If anything hickson is being shopped becuz it is his last year in portland and he will ask for a huge contract, for the blazers it would be better to let him go and get other players and save some money

In listening closely to what Olshey has been saying, it sounds as if they're not shopping what hasn't yet been evaluated and assessed.  Looking ahead to what looks to be big contracts for Lillard and possibly even Leonard, I personally believe that Aldridge's nearly 16 mil/yr will be in the way.  In keeping Hickson, the retaining of an all-star point guard and securing of a starting 5, whether that be Leonard or another, would be more realistic at that juncture, remembering the contracts of both Batum and Matthews and need for a bench contributor.  In short, I don't believe LaMarcus is being shopped YET, by I do believe moving forward and for the long term success of this franchise...he will be.

How many generations of Blazers have we seen come through here.  This current rebuild is based on building around Aldridge.  To trade Aldridge is to say that this rebuild is a failure and we are going back to the drawing board.  There may come a time when we need to do that, if Damian develops into a clear number 1 option and the team has made little progress otherwise.  Then maybe we say start the rebuild process over again around Lillard.

However, we are still very early in this rebuild and at this point in the re-build it looks to me like we are doing well.  Granted we aren't anywhere near where we need to be, but we are much better than anyone, including Blazers fans thought we would be at this point.  LaMarcus says he is currently happy with where things are going, and I for one would like to try ride this out and see what happens.

We have clear assets, but we definitely need more.  Don't give up on what we already have until we have to.

You guys do know that Deron Williams was traded not too long ago right? Yes they are not doing all that hot as of right now but both Kanter and Favors are quality bigs that are legitimate rising stars. The only reason why they are suffering is because they can't find a good balance between playing their young players and playing their current producers. And how am I hiding behind weak excuses exactly? I am simply stating what I have found to be true from the ball that I've seen. Can everyone here honestly say that they have seen LA hustle on the defensive end for loose balls or for rebounds? As I stated before, LA is 6'11" and pure muscle yet you hardly see him battle for every rebound or even 50% of the time. Do I hate LA? No I actually don't. I even was about to purchase a LA jersey before deciding to go with Dame instead. Maybe I should copy and paste a bit?

Like I said, I love LA and I don't see a trade coming up anytime soon that would warrant trading him.

The Jazz if they can get something good out of Milsap and Jefferson will be in great shape to build a contender.

The Blazers if they can get something good out of Meyers, Babbit, Freeland, Williams, Claver etc. are currently in great shape to build a contender

I would argue we are much further along in the rebuild process than Utah is currently, plus we have the flexibility to keep going.  When Utah traded Williams, they had hit their ceiling in terms of growth with their team and Williams wanted out.

We are currently outperforming anything, anyone would have been able to project by this time, this year.  Plus we are nowhere near the ceiling of what this iteration of the Blazers could reach.  Let's ride this one out and see where it takes us.

IF in a year or two, we've used up our ability to improve and have again reached only mediocrity, then LA will likely want out.  At that point we can decide to trade him away and start the rebuild process over again.

Ubahn the only issue with that statement is that either Milsap or Jefferson would bring more in trade than Meyers, Babbitt, Freeland, Williams, and Claver combined. This draft is pretty PG heavy the Jazz will have two first round picks and around 25 million in cap space. That gives them a pretty good chance of building a contender.

ah misread your post, thought you were saying if milsap and jefferson were to play well.. yes on the market they will bring much more.  Unfortunately all of our bench combined is not very promising in terms of returns for trades.

We also owe a first round pick and are pretty tight on cap space so not sure exactly how we are going to rebuild the bench

We should not be shopping right now. We need to build with the great pillars we have in LaMarcus and Lillard and Hickson. Sports right now are all about a brand and program building. Rip City is in a wonderful position to be successful and really change the scene in the West. On and off the court. Be patient and keep coaching. And the Jazz... Will not be a contender any time soon. They will never spend the money it takes to do so. Look at Jefferson - that was a cheap and failed attempt. The one thing they had was Deron and that train left the station along time ago. Milan is good but no different than Wesley Matthews or Ronnie Price. Any decision the Jazz make - We should do the opposite.
I am a fan of Damian Lillard going off for his friends and family in Oakland. Proves he can go off whenever he so chooses.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...
