    What To Watch For

    No Cousins
    After getting into an argument on the sidelines with Head Coach Keith Smart, DeMarcus Cousins has been suspended indefinitely. These two teams have already played each other twice, with both teams winning on the other's home court. The catch? Portland ran the Kings out of their own gym back on November 13th, 103-86 and did so with Cousins missing in action, as he was serving a previous suspension. When Cousins did play, the Kings embarrassed the Blazers in front of their own fans, 99-80 just two weeks ago. As long as the Blazers focus and don't take the Kings lightly without their best interior player, they should handle their business in the paint and head into Christmas riding a 6-game winning streak.

    Control The Paint
    On both ends of the floor, the paint needs to be patrolled by Portland. Since Cousins will be out, the onus is now on the Blazers to attack the basket and either get easy buckets in the paint or draw fouls. On defense, the frontcourt of Portland must keep the Kings off of the offensive glass. That means JJ, LA, and Nic need to box out, outlet to a point guard and get the break started. Again, without Cousins, look for the Kings and their plethora of guards (Brooks, Jimmer, Evans, Thornton) to get their offense from the perimeter, which means the misses come off the rim long. If the Trail Blazers can score 40+ in the paint and win the rebounding battle, they'll make amends for the last Kings contest.

    No Matthews tomorrow against the Kings
     RT Wesley Matthews (left hip flexor strain) will not travel with the team to SAC and is out for Sunday game vs. the Kings.

    Kings are rested and have been waiting to ambush the Blazers. Take cover and hit your marks Portland, every game counts from here on out if we want to make the playoffs!

    looks like it's just not gonna be cousins out for them I guess evans is out as well should be a game that we should take

    I agree.  I didn't happen.  This is the reality that is hard for people that love them some JJ have to cope with at some point.  JJ is our back up PF.

    Very poor defensive effort last night. We really only had 2 guys produce much. LA and JJ..Damian just can't run with Aaron Brooks. guard and wing defense was bad and we missed Wesley out there. Bench went back to sleep but Joel Freeland got 6 pts 2 rbs and a steal in 3.5 minutes..maybe should've played him earlier? We'll get them next game!

    Blazers played really good the last 5 games. Just a step slow on offense and defense last night.

    I'm going to remind fans that LaMarcus just got the boot off his sprained ankle, Sasha had a groin injury, Wes a hip pointer, Freeland a torn ligament in his shooting hand and Nic is recovering from a bad back. Nic said he feels better but he did not have a great game. We came into Sac limping and credit to Sac...they took advantage! Ugly game by the Blazers but not a real shocker given the circumstance...guys who needed to step up big just didn't. It was also a back to back game. LA and JJ weren't enough to beat the Kings by themselves.

    For whatever reason Blazers just don't matchup well against the kings,outlaw steps up against us and its just a situation where they hgave our # we've seen it before in nba.Hell look at the Blazers in 1990-91 they were 63-19  but for whatever reason had a very tough time with the clippers. It sucks people get down on JJ if he had a bad game after the last 5 games where he had 18-18 and 19-15 amoung others now he has a bad game and its like ohhhh he shouldn't be  a starter,stupid. anyway,blazers play Kings AGAIN well I dont know what to say about that, i'd HOPE they'd salavge alittle bit of pride and win on our home floor,but they seem to have our number,it happens,imagine if we could beat the kings we'd be like 15-11,crazy

    Ohhh yeah,an I've been saying all year we should get outlaw back,everyone pretty much ignores me,but hell anyone notice how Outlaw LIGHTS us Up like a Lamp everytime we play,the game in portland and last nite he had 15 points in 16 min! Really? REAAALLLLY?  He'll if we had outlaw and didn't even play him at least he'd wouldnt be on sacramento to Light us up. Its a wonder we cant beat Sac,whats he gonna do on the 26th have 25 points in 10 min?

    Travis Outlaw make 3 mil a year.  DNP in 16 games this year.

    On the season he's avge 12.4 MPG 4.6 PPG  1.8 RPG  assists/steals/blocks all under 0.5 PG  27% from 3 

     

    In 2 games vs Portland, he's 2-2 from 3, 16.5 MPG, 13 PPG and 75% from the field and 1 SPG

    yeah he averages 4 points per game but 13 against us,it' be worth it to get him on our team just so we dont have to play him

    After a slow start, I thought Damian played well also, coming up just two REBS shy of a triple.  Leonard showed flashes again.  Batum's TOs don't overly concern me, as he is in the process of expanding his game, becoming more of a facilitator.  Defense continues to be a problem, lacking a legitimate shot blocking threat hurts this team indescribably.

    Will Barton shout out! 14 pts and played under control. The starters played well and Meyers played better. This was a necessary win for our dignity and felt good! Ronnie Price hit his shots last night and made some plays too. Great to see!

    I flat out called out LA''s poor passing in a thread a few months ago. His passing is so much better than when he was young but he needs to get better.
