Our bench sucks simple as that. However, it did not have to be this way. We should have traded Luke Babbitt, Nolan Smith, Elliot Williams, and Jared Jeffries for draft picks. Then we could have used our money to sign some real players for our bench.

Here is a list of players that we should have signed.

PG Patty Mills: this kid can flat out score and the fans love him. He is currently scoring almost 6 points a game while only playing 12.5 minutes a game. He would be a perfect fit for this team and he is making less than 1.5 million  a season.

SG Leandro Barbosa: I like Sasha Pavlovic he plays hard and does lots of little things to help us win. However, the fact that this team refused to go after someone with his experience and scoring ability is terrible. Barbosa is currently scoring over 5 points per game at only 12 minutes per game. He is currently making the veterans minimum.

SF Matt Barnes: He has always played hard especially on defense and he is a huge upgrade over Babbitt. He is also making the veteran minimum. He is currently averaging around 10 points and 5 rebounds per game at just over 25 minutes a game.

PF Reggie Evans: this man is a beast he is averaging 8.6 rebounds per game at only 21 minutes per game. He is an excellent low post defender and he plays hard always, which is something this team needs. He is currently making less than 2 million a season.

C Robin Lopez: He is averaging 11 points 5.5 rebounds and 2 blocks per game while playing at only 25 minutes a game. He is making around 5 million a season, which is kind of a lot for a bench player but he would be a great piece to have while Leonard develops.

For 12 million a year we could have a real bench and still be below the cap.

I wonder what this team would have looked like with a real bench. I wish our management would have been more aggressive.

What do you think of our bench and what it could have been?

Yeah it could have been much better like signing Aaron Brooks or Nate Robinson instead of Ronnie Price..

Also should have picked up any center to allow Hick to play his natural position.  Biggest mistake was drafting Myers Leonard over Jeremy Lamb/Harkless or just trading the pick for player or to move higher in the draft/ gather more picks.

But hey cant be talking about the past I guess we should be glad we got an 11-12 record with this roster.

idk honestly a young big man thats a true 7 footer and a center with the athletic ability as someone half his size is somthing you don't pass up on anywayz give him a couple seasons to develop very few big men are successful there rookie year look @ bynum he wasn't a top 5 center immediatly

Meese...I pushed for bringing in Barbosa. I really thought he would end up a Laker. Both teams missed that Barbosa boat. Much like CC, I believe this team misses the Rhino's presence. Reggie Evans wouldn't have been a bad consolation prize. Never been big on Robin Lopez and detest Barnes, though his defensive contributions on the perimeter are undeniable. Love Patty Mills in that back up role...at least at the offensive end of the floor, the locker room, and in the community. I've also been fairly outspoken with regard to possibly pursuing former Blazer Chris Johnson. While not perfect, particularly where it comes to his slight frame and consequent difficulties in the fundamentals of rebounding, his shot blocking presence and athleticism would be invaluable to this roster at the 5 coming off the bench. I am forgetting who it was that first mentioned Douglas-Roberts on the boards, but he is another solid option...Blazer Fanatic and I among his endorsers. Some food for thought.

Bdawg your couldn't be more right on. A few other guys I think the blazers could always go for 1 chris wilcox,am I the only one wh o sees this guy as a solid scrapper type guy ditto for rony turiaf and I really wish the blazers would get travis outlaw back I mean he hasn't done anything since leaving us and is 6 10 can defend shoot and play multiple posistions the 3 4 or even 5 if another team goes small and we wanna counterack, we let adam morrison go so that shows me he had nothing left and I'm still bummed we let go of bayless he's a blazer I would love to get back I liked his skill set alot

I really have to disagree about Chris Johnson, sure he can block some shots but his overall game is lacking. He has very little to offer offensively, is not a strong rebounder, and struggles to stay out of foul trouble because he would much rather block shots than anything else defensively.

If your interested in a player like that why not go with someone like Chris Birdman Anderson.

I was not that big on Robin Lopez either but he is making a believer out of me in New Orleans. I think he showed he needed a bigger role in Phoenix but they were so perimeter oriented he got lost in the shuffle.

The others were designed to give us a nice mix of defense and offense off the bench and I believe those 5 mixed with Pavlovic, Leonard and Barton would have given us a nicely balanced bench.

I also believe that we could have gotten probably 2 first round picks by trading the four players previously mentioned. That would have been huge for this team, considering we still owe the Bobcats a first round pick.

Anderson based on his abilities alone maybe. Andersen a Blazer is a bit like oil and water though imo. Too much stuff going on there off the court and in the locker room. I've been waiting to see him make an appearance on Celebrity Rehab with Dr Drew. His impact on the game while on the floor though was noteworthy, and in that respect, I agree.

He still remains unsigned along with Keynon Martin, and Delonte West. All of which, bring a toughness and energy to the court that is amazing. Unfortunately, they also have their share of off court issues as well. Stotts does not seem like he has a strong enough personality to control these guys so as much as I like each of them the odds of seeing them in Blazer gear is very slim.

I wouldn't be as opposed to KMart a Blazer as I would Andersen and West. Martin's bad boy image stayed on the floor, relatively speaking ofcourse. A kind of modern day Bill Laimbeer, subtle hip checks included.

Last summer I was a huge advocate of signing Barbosa. He would've been the perfect 6 man behind Batum. What I never wanted on this team was a Delonte West, Aaron Brooks, Kenyon Martin or any other headcase in the locker room. We could've signed Ray Allen as well. Next summer I'd like to see us make a run at Eric Maynor. Gortat was someone I wanted when he left Orlando, but not at the price tag he's going to command. For a big a guy that'll be a free agent next season is Pekovic from Minnesota. That's a guy I'd sign in a heartbeat. As it is we're still finding out who is stepping up off the bench and who will earn a roster spot long term. We need to resign JJ and Sasha in my opinion. The Rhino would be perfect here and he's in Israel playing now. We're only a couple of pieces away from having an incredible team and we don't have to give up value to shore up the bench.

Bdawg I have no problem at all with what Blazer Fanatic wrote to me. The thread title is a little misleading and she has a right to call me on that. I think though we have done a decent job since then about mentioning players that are currently available who might help our bench. Fanatic is opinionated but I love her for that. I really hope your not considering not posting anymore Fanatic.

Anyways Luke is having a decent night off the bench tonight with 11 point and 7 rebounds although he also has 5 turn overs. Maybe things are looking up and maybe not.

12-12 good job boys the Blazers are winning, the Earth is still here and all is good in the world.

A lot has changed over the past few days but here are somethings that have not. Our bench still sucks, people are still naive (Mayans never predicted the end of the Earth), gun control is a stupid idea, and Jesus still loves us.

I think Kmart would be sweet too,I mean why don't the blazers sign these guys, were 12-12,have a awesome starting lineup all we need is a bench,so i guess its obvious that management is taking the"miss the playoffs to get a draft pick"approach. As fans we wanna see our team compete every year and make the playoffs, but lets be honest, who could we beat in the playoffs? We'd probably lose in the first round. But I think winning should always be the focus and really with our starting lineup,if we had alittle better bench we might just be able to upset someone in the first round,I mean if we had Beat washington and not layed a egg against sacramento we could very easily be 14-10 so I would hope the blazers sign anderson,or kmart,I was rather hoping for a apocolypse but hey can't have everything

I think locker room chemistry might be the biggest reason why the team has not made any deals. Moreover the fact that by all accounts this team is currently overachieving is probably the other reason.

Also our roster is maxed out at 15.. I think we should push ourselves into going in to the playoffs and try to win a series now. The probability of us winning 1 is low but at least try to structure our roster to be competitive somewhat.

in my opinion, you play the game to win not tank for the lottery ever. This draft class is extremely weak anyway. Why wouldn't Damian want playoff experience his rookie year? That's not what I want from a coaching staff or a roster is white flags in December

I dont know about next year but I think this would a good draft to give Charlotte our pick.

We've shown we can beat the Nuggets, Spurs, Lakers and Minnesota so nothing would be sweeter than beating the Lakers in the first round of the playoffs. That alone is a reason to make them this season.

Though my heartbeat quickens with even the thought of a first round matchup with the Lakers, I don't see that as a reasonable possibility. I don't think the Lakers will finish higher than fourth, at best, which would necessitate Portland finish fifth. Wonder if Santa would consider granting a collective fanbase their wish?

Stop underestimating Kobe he will score 60 a night if he has to carry this team to the playoffs the Lakers will not miss unless Kobe gets severely injured.

That being said making the playoffs would be good to get free agents here but we cannot settle for becoming a low seed playoff team again like we have been since the early 2000's
