Trail Blazers (8-11) Vs. Kings (6-12)

    What To Watch For

    Road Trip Hangover

You know what they say. The first home game back after a long road trip acts essentially like another road game. It will be important for the Trail Blazers to not let their guard down just because they have returned home. And it's not like they will have a big-time opponent to motivate them. They are better than the Kings. They know it. And they've already proved it this year, defeating Sacramento 103-86 back on November 13th. But if they relax too much and overlook the Kings, it could be an unwelcome homecoming. But this is where the crowd comes in. Hopefully all of Rip City is out in full force Saturday night and brings the team an energy boost. If Portland gets out to a hot start, then there will be concerns of a let-down.

    Home Court Advantage

The Kings are the only winless team on the road in the Western Conference (0-6). With that in mind, the Trail Blazers should look to attack early on and let it be known from the jump that they are not losing this game. Hopefully they deflates Sacramento's spirit and they concede. But if they are allowed to hang around, they could become a problem down the stretch in a tight game. And after playing three close games on the road, two of which went into overtime, the last thing this Blazers team wants is another close call. Look for Damian Lillard to set the tone right away, by finding Aldridge in the post and getting the ball out quickly to Matthews and Batum in transition. Lillard may score 20, but his impact Saturday will be felt distributing the ball. We are a tough team to beat when all of our starters are having fantastic outings. I'm calling 10+ assists for the reigning Rookie of the Month.

Kings just beat the Raptors. Yes... I know... but a win's a win in the NBA.

We play them 3 times this month. I'm going to be so sick of DeMarcus Cousins' face by the 26th. Luckily I'll be in the RG that day, so I won't have to look at his stupid close-ups. :D

    BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! (deep breath)  HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I can't stand him either.  I can see him and LA or JJ getting into it.  That kid doesn't know when to shut up and play.  I wouldn't be against Freeland or Leonard getting into their first scuffle with him either.  Protect our House and our Paint.  Hopefully these two days off have been enough to recharge and regroup.

Head case bigs like Cousins are a quick study..you get into their heads early and they get in foul trouble. I don't those guys to be LaMarcus or JJ...I'd let Jeffries and Freeland take those fouls and mix it up. Keep JJ and LA out of foul trouble and get him on the bench for long stretches. Old school! Just like to see 2 bench players in double digits at least tonight. I'm looking for improved defense tonight with a couple of days in practice and film sessions. Good thing is guys are trying to get into that bench rotation now and need to show they've earned it. Without Barton and Claver, Sasha and Babbit are going to get a lot of minutes. Hope Ronnie plays tonight too. Maybe this is the night Meyers Leonard gets a double double. Go Blazers!

Where's the unlike button on this thing...? That game shows the Blazers need help.  Hopefully Matthews ain't hurt too bad. And with Batum's back all twisted up. We are definately going to be shorthanded. Ronnie Price was trying to guard John Salmons. Man, he was giving up like a foot. Where's our backup 2? In Idaho? What the heck is he doing there?

It is hard to say but we have to be patient, with this players we have only few option to score, when  someone have problems like Batum tonight , There is no one to replace him. Last time Babbitt try  get more points but it is still not enougch to take advantage and win. We have to work hard specially our rookies, because they have potential  to become strong players or even stars specialy Liliard. He really impress me. I don't think this season we can do big things but maybe ? rather wait for next season and new strong players on board !!!

    GO BLAZERS !!!

This game was just ugly. A disappointment. We were short handed for sure but that's when bench guys step up. Don't quite understand why Batum was on court as long as he was. He was obviously hurt. Babbit had a decent half but disappeared in the 2nd half. We'll get the next one!

Someone tell me if there's a statistic out there about when Luke fakes and dribbles compared to putting up the 3? I'm usually of the mind that I'd rather see a player take it inside rather than jack up 3's. Luke is the only person I'd rather see shooting the long ball than ANYTHING else. If he rebounds and hits 3's, he can play 48 minutes for all I care. But once he starts thinking he's this multifaceted player with an inside game, he becomes a waste of pasty-white space.

With Matthews and Batum both coming out with injuries, I wonder what would've happened with Will Barton in Portland rather than Idaho. We had to play 2 PGs most of the game, and it really messed with Lillard's game. He wasn't sure of his role, and the time he usually would've taken over, he was passing the Mr. Awkward-Shot Price.

Not a good game from Portland, but I think it deserves more comment than "we suck."

I see NO REASON having Barton in the D League!

If your a bad team you dont send your rookies to the D League you play them. I see if we had a stacked roster and a championship material team and cant play Barton. BUT WE ARENT!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Blazers Management will NEVER learn. We will continue to be terrible. Remember when Brandon Roy had so many minutes, he freaking blew out his knees. Watch the same thing happen to Wes, Batum, LA, Damian.

We will all wait though, all wait for us to go back to the Roy years which will never happen. Those years were not even that good. We will wait for the Pippen- Steve Smith years but it will never come.

    Sadly im waiting too.

Siccolo...chill out dude! You take this stuff way too seriously..it's just a game. Barton and Claver are back in Portland today. We needed bench contributions and starters to have great games last night. Didn't happen. That's life sometimes.

I don't know Chloe. I agree when looking at and comparing the two records early on in this campaign, one would think Portland came in with a considerable advantage at home. However, hearing just hours before tip that Sac was the third best team in the league scoring in the paint and knowing the Blazers don't defend the cup well (or at all some nights) made for a bad match-up. Throw in other aggravating factors like Batum's unavailability and Wes going down...even it being the first game back home following a long road trip as D mentioned in the opening to this thread...and you can see a recipe for disaster. A loss is a loss, and this one was ugly, no question. Just trying to make lemonade outta lemons here:-)

Sacramento hasn't won a road game, and blazers beat the very same team in sacramento by 20,so yeah horrible loss, good ole Casey who pretty much challenges everything I say, said he can name 100 worse moments, but lets be honest, blazers haven't been a team thats done anything memerable over the last several years and this was a horrible loss, sacramento is one of the few franchises we can claim superiority over, and they even beat us on our home floor,in front of their home fans.Casey probably wants to make lemonade too,but he was there sure he heard the boo's and losing to a team like sacramento, one of the few teams like I said that we can claim to be a better franchise then,is embarassing

Siccolo, I never want the Roy years back. 1st round wonders, always anxious and not sure if our best player would hit the floor writhing in pain? Never again. Smith/Pippen years? A bunch of aging veterans on expensive short-term contracts. Not that one either. You know what I want? Something that looks like the Lucas/Walton years. An NBA Championship! We'll get there. It might take 20 years with a completely different roster and a CBA that levels the playing field. Who knows. But if ANYONE talks about going back to a former Blazers team, I'm going to disagree. Let's move forward and see what we can build.
