Trail Blazers (6-10) At Cavaliers (4-12)

    What To Watch For

    Ball Movement, Player Movement
In a concerted effort to get LaMarcus the ball in the post, the offense has really stalled out throughout this road trip and it was most apparent against the Celtics. In Boston, the Trail Blazers recorded just 12 assists, with 4 of those coming from Will Barton in the second-half. That means, there was not enough ball movement, player movement going on for the starters. Once LA was posted up, the other four players simply stood around the perimeter and watched. Where was the slashing to the basket that we saw early in on games against the Lakers and Rockets? Portland should still look to get the ball into Aldridge, as he's shown he's a pretty good passer out of the post, but his teammates need to move and make themselves open. Also, Damian Lillard needs to stop picking up his dribble at the top of the key. Not only does it take precious seconds off of the shot clock but it throws a wrench into the offensive sets being called out.

    Keep Varejao Off The Boards

The best big man in the Eastern Conference at the moment is none other than Cleveland's Anderson Varejao, who had a monster night in the Cavs' win in Atlanta which saw him score 20 points and pull down 18 rebounds. A lot of the times for Cleveland, especially without Kyrie Irving, their best offensive strategy is a missed shot that allows Varejao to grab the board and put it up and in. He leads the NBA in RPG at 15.1 and 5.9 of those come on the offensive end. Keeping Andy off the offensive glass is the vital if the Trail Blazers want to pick up their first road win of the season.

If we would have beat Wizards and Pistons we would be 8-8 and then beat Cavs today we would have been 9-8

thats is what I had us when I predicted our record game by game before the season started.

I bet we would of looked 8-9 unless you predicted we would of beat the lakers opening night but I don't think many fans predicted that one I know I didn't see that one coming

Thank you fellas. A shot blocker would've meant a win in regulation. Nice effort. Proud to be a Blazer fan this evening.

    Your right BLASER :)
The team looked it came together today. Looked GREAT in the first half. Rest not so much but still good.

Our bench played the best of the season. Everyone had very good offensive games.

Also a lot flaws we had were not apparent today. LA didnt take that many long twos. I cried when I saw him think about shooting one and drove through the lanes.

A problem I had was with Nicolas was his shot selection. It approved this games, didnt shoot that many 3s but shot a Very Important One.  We also didnt have much ugly possessions, we passed and ran the fast break.

Team played awesome today. Loved it.

    Batum didn't want a 3rd overtime, so he made a 3 pointer.

Feel like I just got a tooth pulled. The pain is gone! Great win but seemed like it took a month to get it. Big improvement from the bench and maybe this was the sparkplug game that will turn it around! Go Blazers!

@ riverman...aptly stated my friend.  It figures that the win to break the L streak would be this hard fought.  Hope the hangover doesn't carryover to the next game.  Nice to see some players breaking their slumps tonight.  Now it's Mr. Matthews turn!

We have Miami coming up after Charlotte I think and that's probably the toughest game we'll face.

It's time for a winning streak. The new improved bench production should be a huge help to the starters. Maybe the warmer climate will help as well.

Yeah...29 pts from the bench compared to all those games with like 4 pts...big improvement. They actually held a lead for awhile against the Cavs. 8 pts from Freeland in 7 minutes, before that he was something like 2-26 from the field? Time wil tell but I was pleased with the bench last game.

Probably the best game of the season (ex aequo with LAL on opening night). As everybody here I was excited with our bench, specially Joel & Will. I think Joel is catching the flow since he gained that needed self-confidence against Boston and he send the bad demons away from his mind. But the rest of the guys cannot be overlooked as well - Nolan played his best game of the season as he gave the spark and Luke also was very solid. That win should be a huge  bust for the remaining of the trip and was an even bigger relief for us.

Yeah...pretty good and he played really good defense, got some boards, passed well. He came in and took over the game for that stretch. Before last night I was ready to send him to Idaho and give Lauderdale a shot but he stepped up!

We dont play Mia until Janurary 10

Our next games Bobcats, Pacers, Kings, Raptors, Spurs, Hornets, Nuggets, Suns, Kings, Kings, Lakers

The Bobcats, Pacers, Kings are road games the rest are home. Other than the Lakers and Spurs these are all winnable games.  If we play like we did yesterday we can win these.
