Trail Blazers (6-8) At Wizards (0-12)

    What To Watch For

Play To Win, Not, Not To Lose
Absolutely no team wants to be the one that gives the Wizards their first win of the season. And while the Trail Blazers are the more talented team on paper, if they feel the pressure of being that first win for Washington, they would play tense and allow that reality to come to fruition. Portland needs to come out loose and aggressive. Treat this contest as if they were going into Boston to play the Celtics (which they are Friday night). We should know right away what the mindset is of this team. If shots start looking like they're coming up short, free-throws are being missed, and turnovers are being accumulated, this could be a long night. But if the Blazers are the aggressors and force turnovers of their own, get to the foul line on the regular, and shoot with confidence, then the first road win of this road trip will be in the bag.

    Don't Let It Linger

The Wizards are a team with a bruised ego and shattered confidence. Portland MUST put this team away early. Make it very clear and apparent to Washington that tonight is not going to be their night. If the Trail Blazers can take a double-digit lead after one quarter, it may crush the Wizards' spirit and they may go away silently. But, if the Blazers don't pounce on the Wiz right away, Washington will hang around all 48 minutes. And you know how it works. The longer you let an underdog stay in the game, the more they believe they call pull off the upset.

If we lose to the Wizards, we might as well just come home early from this road trip.

We should win this one. At some point the ball has to start dropping through the hoop. Cold shooting has lost us a couple we could've won but I see a win in Washington.

Let's win by 40. No mercy in the NBA. It's not our fault the Wizards stink.

Lets be honest with ourselves, when you rely on the three ball as much as we do and throw up shots, we are bound to lose like we did. I'm getting really tired of the starters being leaned on so much to do everything, especially since none of our starters have proven that they can consistently play. Our shooting percentage was horrendous. The front office needs to stop sitting on their butts and actually pick up some players to relieve the starters of their constant big minutes. I know that we were never expected to contend really, but to have our team shoot 35% in the game is just not okay.

i had a sneaking suspicion we'd find a way to lose tonight. looks like this team is still playing to it's opponents level, it has for years.

everyone keeps saying we need more scoring off the bench, yeah it'd be nice, but what would be really nice is if we'd place some defense. wesley usually has a good individual effort, hickson and batum have sparks of brilliance, and jefferies takes charges. that's about it. no good team defense yet. lillard will learn, as will leonard. lamarcus is scaring me, too many jumpers not enough rebounds/blocks/beast mode. i guess i could understand him giving up on the season but hope he doesnt give up on the team or our fans.

Bring your thoughts regarding Aldridge to Frog's thread, where he and I are fending off attacks right and left. LA plays the game like a 3 and has apparently gone to the Carmelo school of defense. I would be signing his checks with the same effort he's giving on the floor. Move him for 2-3 producers off the bench. Starters can't continue 40+ minutes a game, and a Hicky, Leonard, Batum frontcourt is more than adequate and by far the best rebounding and interior defense trio Stotts can start. Do it yesterday. This is rock bottom for a healthy squad. Health will be the next casualty if something isn't done soon, spiraling this team into the depths of the league cellar and a Rose Garden on game nights with less people in it than a discount supermarket at the end of the month.

You can not win on the road shooting 30-81 from the floor and going 12-18 from the line. I don't care who you are playing, you have to shoot better than that. On the bright side, JJ Hickson is playing like Kenneth Faried, a player most of us wanted in the 2011 draft. His relentlessness on the boards is amazing. The offensive rebound over three Wizards to tie the game up was 100% #BEASTMODe

I think we will eventually come around, but this team is going to be a home dominant team this year, esp with only 5-6 real scoring options.

Yeah, he was tripping with that Scottie Pippen reference. Nowhere as good as him, BUUUTTT, I think he can be, if he plays like a man. In Euroleague, you are taught more about finesse, and the fundamentals. He needs to put a little more muscle on, ...

Ridnour doesn''t have a lot of offensive game, but he''s irritating as hell as an opponent and that''s what you want. He can run plays and stuff so he would be nice.

Thanks Siccolo, not to knock on Bosh. I think if he was the number one option he would go back to being a beast. I miss making jokes about him playing for the RAPTORS. He is a great player.
