Time for Brandon to consider an assistant coaching career. He's on the 7th knee surgery and more than likely has played his last NBA game..I thought he'd make it at least half a season but....nope!

Been sayin this since the day I heard Roy was no longer "retired" and was signing with Minnesota...

Brandon Roy, this was YOUR mistake. Every doctor out there told you to wait longer, and that by immediately pushing to continue playing in the NBA, you'd be risking your future ability to even walk. You tried to convince us that you had looked into alternative treatments that would make your knees better, but I truly doubt you ever even convinced yourself of their effectiveness. You just loved the game too much to quit, and that endearing love betrayed you.

If Roy had followed the overwhelming medical guidance telling him to WAIT and try coming back in 2 or so years, then I really believe he could have played a lot more games.

I thought he was a smart, level-headed enough guy that he would have been able to see that. But instead, he ignored logic and professional medical advice in favor of his endless passion for the game and the dreamer's chance that he could find a miracle cure. That's the wrong move 99 times out of 100 (unless your name is Kobe, apparently).

Brandon, you will be missed. I really, REALLY wish you could have handled this with more maturity, intelligence, and patience. I was really looking forward to wearing #7 again in the Rose Garden, but I guess now it will find a permanent spot on the wall.

Brandon Roy WAS a great player and had a real chance to be one of the best that ever played. I hope he realizes that his player days are over, I wish him the best and he will always be a Blazer!

It's time for BRoy to change careers. I would like to see him try his hand at color commentary, assistant coaching or even as a shooting coach like Dan Dicau was. He can still contribute to basketball but he's not running footraces or leaping for rebounds anymore. Is Mike Rice retiring soon? Blazers offered Roy a job in a non-player role when he was waived last season.

I wouldn't call him unintelligent and immature. The guy is still young and anyone who loves the game that much can't just give up on something that they have put so much effort into and babied. You don't just give that much time and effort in the gym to just give it up. He was at the top of his game when he left and so it's only normal to not want to give it up. Its a little boys dream of making lots of money to play sports and he just wants to live it. Of course he will probably pay for his choice but I would rather have to use a cain and know I tried then think back later on and wonder if the doctors weren't right.

Not saying he shouldn't try at all Schwabbii, sayin he shouldn't have ignored medical advice about trying so soon. It was just the wrong idea.

I don't think I called him unintelligent or immature, so not sure what you mean there. I just said I thought he was that type of guy who'd follow advice and make the right decision, even if it was a tougher one to make. He made a rushed decision to return now because he's too passionate about the game, instead of making a more difficult, more patient decisions based on the educated, experienced opinions of medical professionals.

I don't believe his decision was either "return now and risk walking with a cane the rest of your life" or "never return and constantly question if it was the right time to leave".

What was being asked of him was the compromise option; "take 2-3 years off, get treatment and long-term rehab, then make a return to the league that can be more sustainable for you, and less dangerous for your body and long-term health".

Bottom line, he was more passionate than patient, and he'll pay the cost.

Lets not forget though that Brandon Roy is 28 years old, which is a bit older for a player. Holding off for another year or two would only legitimately give him a few more years to play. As for the unintelligent/immature comment, it was based off of the "ignored logic" phrase. Usually people who ignore logic are not the most mature or intelligent individuals. But either way, doesn't make a big difference.

sign Iggy for 8-9M, Batum at the two, and Wesley off the bench! Draft Steven Adams (who loves contact, grew up playing rug-bee). Sounds NICE!

Im not impressed with Gortat. Everyone wants him but he seems mediorcre to me. He is the most realistic option since all it would take is the 10th pick, but I think he is old and declining.
