our starting 5 is pretty dang good.

JJ: he's a hustle beast, he's the attitude we loved in the thrylla with a more athletic package and ability to score.

LA: still beating, and i've heard him being more vocal on the court, keep doing your thing my man. i was worried stots would turn LA into dirk, and he'd end up a jump shooter with low rebounds, but it seems he's becomming a very effective hybrid of low post and jump shooting, and he's still managing to rebound.

batum: i knew one day he'd finally click. he figured out in game 3 that even when his shot isn't there he just needs to hustle on D, i hope he keeps this attitude and builds on it, im glad we paid him.

wesley: look who learned to dribble and finish a fast break? loving it, i cringe all season last year when he was leading a break, now i know something good is coming.

lillard: if he doesn't get ROY im never posting again, he's calm cool and collected and he proved in OT that he has the killer instinct of guys like brandon roy and kobe. i love that he nailed 2 vital 3's in extra time. this kid is going to be special, we finally got our PGOTF

our bench pretty much sucks, but sasha has showed he's a crafty vet and a much better option than a babbit.

meyers leonard is a beast, this kid is going to be in the conversation for dominant centers in the future, the league lacks centers, he's going to easily climb to number 4 behind lopez howard and bynum, and i think he has potential to be better, he's athletic, and he has what a guy like howard lacks IMO, and that's hustle, grit, and a back bone. I loved watching him get into howards head, he gave a look to the crowed like "haha i got this punk" he's going to be an enforcer type player, i'm loving this kid, he's got the work ethic and attitude of my man joel but he's got the body and athleticism of a guy like howard.

terry stotts, THANK GOD WE HAVE AN OFFENSE. Wow i was a defender of nate, but 3 games in it's so obvious he had no clue when it came to offense.

everyone is quick to dismiss this team this year for the playoff race, but i think we will be nipping at that 8th spot. but even if we don't make it, the effort and hustle of this years teams makes it loads more fun to watch than last years bust of a team.

    go rip city.

We need a bench. That is going to be the sentiment the entire season and I'm not sure we'll be able to get the help. I doubt Olshey will want to take on a bad contract just to bolster the bench when we can do so in free agency and the Bobcats own our protected 1st round pick as well so we can't use that as bait. But our starters have far exceeded my expectations. I just hope they don't get worn out.

Stotts took criticism for not putting the starters back in at the start of the fourth against Dallas. I on the other hand feel like doing that would run down our guys if ey started playing 40min games regularly.
The bench is a huge weak point for right now but that doesn't mean it doesn't have potential. I know these forums take on a fantasy draft mentality sometimes, but what's best for the team is not to take in aging players to bolster the bench. Rather, we need to stick to our guys, give em run so we can see who's potential is real and who's is just a mirage. This will cause losses sometimes, but we knew that coming in.
we can let the young unproven guys waste away like Nate did.

I think Will Barton and Ronnie Price missing preseason from injury are thrown into the fire still pretty rusty but will get going after a month. Claver and Freeland I'm hoping will get pissed off and find their inner beast. I also think our starters have to come into games in the first half and knock out teams building larger margins so the bench isn't playing catch up when they spell them. At least we got a road win! Who would have guessed the Blazers, Mavs, Magic and Bucks would be winning at all early in the season?

Mike and mike made a very valid point at the end of the Dallas game.
Looking at who we played, can anyone honestly say they are disappointed in a 2-2 start with who we played?! Especially with Houston and Dallas being much better than they look on paper.
And while our losses don't look close in the box score, both games were competitive until late in the game.

They are starting out like I thought they would (the Houston game surprised me) solid at home, sluggish on the road. If they continue at this pace, they could finish between 7-12 in the Western Conference.

I love a few things on this team.

One I love Lillard he is awesome simple as that.
Too I love Batum is rebounding.
I really love that JJ is averaging almost 12 boards a game.

    I hate the bench
I hate the poor defense overall

Overall the season is entertaining at least.

tru that Porter was the best and Hollins was great too

Bates was kinda a local legend during the early 80s

Legend power dunker who came out of no where had a poster always luved his game... too bad he danced with the the white dragon so much

26.7 career playoff average is HUGE

Andre Miller and Rod Strickland were no slouches at pt guard either. Lillard could become the best of all time.

TP was super durable and got us two trips to the finals... so Lillard has some work to do but no doubt but he has all the tools to surpass Porter in the end for sure

which would be cool too...because that would mean we are winning playoff games :)

It all comes down to the point guard, unless you are Lebron or Kobe

26.7 Playoff average! Seriously thats crazy, whats weird is he played a average of 20 minutes a game, but during the playoffs he averaged like 35 minutes a game. One has to question why he played such low minutes during the regular season if he was capable of that kinda production. Stickland was awesome, our 93 team had the potential to be one of the best if it weren't for drexlers injuries in the playoffs.Miller was cool. But Porter is the best Portland PG of all time, but the way lillard is going,he was stone cold last nite in OT,for a rookie thats crazy. The White Dragon? Sounds fun

Yeah and now Blazers have zero interest in Bynum. I really thought he was worth the small risk. If anything he would be at the end of our bench and we use him as a sub. Hopefully we do make some type of trade for a quality back up center. Right no...
