Batum fairly consistent since the OKC game.  Hoping this is for real.

I love Batum and he is playing GREAT this season.

But how do you guys feel about his shot selection??
I know he is scoring them but he takes a lot of threes. A lot of them are very contested forced threes but I guess that's his game. He is scoring them and has freedom to do that.

He's #1 in the NBA behind the stripe isn't he?  Keep bombing threes if that's what keeps him mentally in the game.  He looks like he's having fun, and even his interviews have improved.  I've always said his problems were mental not physical, and I think his head is in the right place at the moment.  I would have so much less Blazer anxiety if Batum can sustain this.  Team is very fun to watch right now.

Creating up top and driving for dimes, pulling up from the arc, blocking from behind, coming off curls, getting to the line, leading NBA in 3s, dunking on breaks, dishing on breaks, swiping 2.5 steals, defending top players, never ever wanting to come out, and demanding the ball at crunch time.

    Whats not to like

Siccolo... I personally love the green light specials his stroke is super pure especially when it gets rolling!

IMO Nic already has a deadlier stroke than both Pippen and G Hill the two players most GMs most commonly compare his unique talent and size too

Keep shooting Nic.. jus think Pippen and G Hill would just be coming off their rookie years... is Nic really that far off their All Star tracks for his age?.. Nic has starred on his National team too

I say we ride our new #1 more and more and let him create up top more..... Like Nic said he feels like he can do anything on court he wants, dangeous!

I wish Lillard at the end of quarters would look for Nic more... he kinda lets teams funnel him to guys like Hickson and away from Nic

If Lillard and Nic get it going together this year pick your poison

    Green light passes for both

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here though. I love Batum but to say he is a number one option on this team is stretching it a bit. I still think LA should be the go-to guy for us and put up big numbers. Of course these past games have shown us that a variety of players are capable of scoring a bucket or two.

Batum's last three games have been sub-par. 13 points (5-10 shooting), 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal at Phoenix. 9 points (3-10 shooting), 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 blocks versus Minnesota. 12 points (5-13 shooting), 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block at Brooklyn. He has been battling a cold/flu, so I'm hoping that's the reason for the drop in his play over the past week.

He had the flu for 2 of those games. He would've had double digit assists in Brooklyn if guys could catch a pass without fumbling it out of bounds. Wes and Nic are playing brutal minutes so far and we need to give them both some rope when they have down games.

First of all, no matter how we feel about Batum, you can't look at a single game +/-... that's more than the definition of "small sample size" for stats like that.

While the scoring has been down (while dealing with sickness), I think it's worth noting that he's still a legit threat in the other stats, since he's had just under a half doz. rebounds, half doz assists, and a healthy dose of steals/blocks in every game, despite being an obvious decrease in performance.

While scoring numbers and % can go up and down in a game depending on psychological factors, health factors, offensive sets, trying new rotations, etc etc... these other stats are the hustle numbers and a more accurate measure for active play; he's consistently attempting to set up players (assists would've been way higher if other players could finish, but these nights have been poor for other players too), and playing active 1v1 defense even when the team defense is struggling horribly.

The fact that these other stats haven't disappeared on the nights when Nic can't find his shot is a GREAT sign, and I think a lot more telling this early in the season as to whether or not he has improved and is willing to show a more consistent effort.

Give him time to get healthy and see what the low points are then, k?

^ I agree with that he's sick and its deff affecting his scoring numbers but he's active in other categories on the stat sheet

It's not all about the points. Frankly, it shouldn't be all about the points.

Nico played while he had the flu...try doing that sometime, He's played the last 3 games while recovering from the flu and it is physically draining to do that. He'll bounce back. I hope he scores 35 again tonight. The small forward position is tough to defend in the NBA...he's had Kirelenko, Gerald Wallace and Tayshaun Prince the last 3...all really good defenders at the position.

We know exactly what JJ defense at the 4 is and it is just as bad as the 5 you act like he has been playing center his whole career.

Exactamundo. Seriously though, both of you''ll are right. The blame should be placed on the attacker, not Lillard. That being said, Dame should have stepped in.

Sanders is 6''11" Cailin he is about 5 pounds lighter than LA so his size should not be an issue.

I completely agree. Pierce would bring a culture change. And we as a team really needed someone to help our young players through the tough times. Jeffires and Pavlovic were veterans who didn''t see much court time and from what I saw didn''t real...

Joakim Noah has had his injury troubles. His crazy game and high energy make him a constant injury threat. What separates him from Oden and Rose (I had to just mention him) is his willingness to play the way he loves.
