I'ts crunch time for the coaches to plug the gaps in our squad with solutions...er..defense and passing efficiency. Will Ronnie Price be in game shape for opening night? Will Meyers Leonard bounce back and look more intimidating with his new battle scars, crooked nose or lumpy forehead? Will Barton become the sparkplug off the bench we want him to be and will we make 3 or 4 passes to the post before jacking up 3s? Right now we're neither above or below anybody else and it's showtime to bring it against the team that the media has almost already crowned as champions. Here's to Stotts unveiling his bag of offensive tricks and Kaleb whipping our defense into shape in practice! Who are the double digit scorers on our bench? I think the pressure is now squarely on the coaching staff to show what they plan to do to succeed with the new-look Blazers! Beat LA!!!

We really need to play good to survive these first 3 weeks of games... we have some doozies on the sched

Will Portland make the plaoffs closing games with Hickson, LMA, Batum, Mathews, Lillard?
Can LMA can become the next Dirk?  Is Lillard is durable for 82 games?
Can Mathews and Batum hold down the 2-3 on D and can either one play off the dribble for Stotts?  Will Mathews and Batum both net 40% for threes?
Who will step up and defend the rim?... Can our 4headded monster Hickson, Freeland, Jefferies, Leonard be enough to defend the rim and protect the rim and window clean the defensive glass?
Who will lead us off the bench on the wings? Claver? Sasha? Barton? Babbit?
Back up point? Price? Smith? trade?

Bring on the LAKERS I'm glass half full

Neither Mathews nor Batum have strong off the dribble games, they shouldn't try to be what they're not. Lillard looks like he can create his own,Aldridge & Hickson as well...Blazers have three guys that can get their own shot consistently, thats all.
I am a fan of Batum taking fewer three's and dicovering the mid range!

Maybe they haven't showed it in the past for Nate's boring stand around half court sets, but I'[m thinking under Stott's running the show we develop both Batum and Mathews games.. they are just pups still so much room to grow

It won't be lack of playing time this time for Nic and Mathews that's for sure... time will tell but this year we could see an entire dif team than we are used to seeing.... I just hope we can defend and be in the top 10 in Opp FG% and rebound, if we do that our offense will stay in a lot of games.

Agreed with DLicious, while we haven't seen much from Nico or Wes off the dribble I think this year we're going to see some surprising development... those two guys, specifically, are incredibly driven to improve. It's just gonna be a matter of practice and putting it in a game situation consistently.

D Lish thats the Gospel. I liked Nate but his offensive scheme ammounted to our parking our ferrari's and racing our Prius'. The more responsibility giving to Matthews and Batum, the better i think they'll respond. They werent called upon to create in the past, now they will be. Wesley has already shown us glimpses of what he can do with the ball in his hands attacking the rim. Batum, i love this kid. Ive been dreaming of the day that he comes off of a curl and releasing the rock, and he did it against Denver i think. We need more of that from him. At least four of those a game. He's no Ray Allen but if he knocks those down consistently,he'll definitely have to have a handle on putting the rock on the ground and driving to the rack or dishin to open shooters. Go Blazers !!!

Okay, I''ll admit it, I like Asik better. I definitely think they will both have very good careers. And finally, someone who agrees, that Ibaka is a  shot blocker, not really a great defender.

Henson will be solid down the road but his ceiling is more like Taj Gibson. He is a great role player but not elite like Sanders and Ibaka could be if people were not so willing to shoot on him.
