Im not in the habit of sugarcoating things, so i wont. Is it going to be a tough season ? Without question. We have some nice pieces, but thats all they are. Pieces. Pieces to a picture somewhat puzzling at present. Leader who ? Lillard da Leader ? Premature ? Absoexpletivelutely. But we are tired of waiting arent we ? Tired of excuses such as, they're young, inexperienced, learning curve, weak bench. Ball hard, consistently and together and good things will happen. New Team New Dream, Phooooey ! How about " In the Making,  New Awakening.  We will Not Go Gentle Into That Good Mediocrity ! We're Coming For That *#! Rip City resuscitated in 6 days against not just the Lakers, but the Clippers as well. One and the same in my mind. Crush em both.

I think we're going to like having Ronnie Price back for those games. Good news from the loss tonight was Nic and Wesley really came to play. With Meyers knocked out early, Jared and Joel were just not enough for Utah's frontcourt. JJ must have been running on fumes in the second half. I think holes were exposed and Stotts will have to plug those before the Laker opener. 8 pts from the bench is not beating anybody anytime soon and we need defense on the block. Last preseason game was a hard lesson for the new guys. I think when the 3 pt shot is not falling, they've got to get to the foul line and change up the game plan.

@ riverman, I agree & that's right, JJ must have been tired but there's no question he got his burn & will get plenty this season (which IS what he wanted ;)  We r NOT a 3pt shooting/jump shot kind of team (we're gonna put up a ton though ;)  For our guys to b successful, we've gotta take/MAKE some 3pt & jump shots to extend the defense/keep 'em honest BUT the MOST important things r that we have motion, attack the rim (ESPECIALLY when shots aren't falling but also anytime going to the rack is there/makes sense), & exploit angles & matchups.

I'm actually NOT looking @ last night's game as an optimist but simply realistically:  Jazz played all their guys (ALL r healthy & most HAVE been together @ least a yr.; Mo dub was the ONLY reg. who didn't play), they have big/skilled (i.e. their defense is physical & tough) 4's & 5's, they were very aggressive (defensively getting a lot of steals & offensively pts in the paint/getting to the line), we didn't have Meyers in long, we got 8pts from the bench (like riverman said ;), we had a fair amt. of mistakes (both forces & unforced), & OUR guys haven't been together for very long (as if I needed 2 remind any1 ;) yet, despite ALL of these things, we only lost by 6 (I understand a loss is a loss)!  IF some1 was told that we lost + all the above (except for the fact that we lost by 6), I guarantee that most (if not all & this does include me) would've thought that we just got run out of the building, we lost by a MINIMUM of @ LEAST 10pts, AND that probably from the opening tip, we were already getting pummeled!  NOT the case :)  OUR Blazers kept it close in ALL quarters (even were up in the 1st); in time (mistakes will b corrected etc.), it's games (I know it was just preseason ;) like these that OUR guys will come out on top!  This was a good/most realistic simulation of the reg. season v. a quality opponent, our guys will learn a LOT from this game :)

I really, REALLY hope that we're not actually structuring our team around shooting 3's... even if our shooters were better, and we really iron out the chemistry so they're always getting open shots, that's STILL not going to be a consistently winning strategy. Our strongest player is an inside player (whether he has a nice outside touch or not), seems like it makes alot more sense to structure the offense inside-out and get to the free-throw line.

Hopefully, the bias towards outside-shooting is just something to do with the pre-season, and trying to get a good look at our backup guys' skills. Our offensive weapons inside are more reliable than our outside ones, no question.

Claver will make a great squad player when he develops his outside shot. His size is an asset because he can guard SF and stretch 4s. If he can be a better rebounder and add a post move to his game we could be looking at a possible answer to our f...

Oden was definitely the best pick coming out of high school and arguably ahead of Durant in the 2007 draft. But the draft is art not science and we really needed a dominant center at the time. If we can get Oden for a short term low-risk deal. Lik...
