The annual top 500 NBA players are being ranked right now by ESPN. Currently they have got up to 301, unfortunately for us we have 8 players listed in the bottom 200.

Meyers Leonard is our highest ranked player so far at 330
    Nolan Smith 338
    Pavlovic 357
    Price 373
    Babbitt 401
    Barton 409
    Williams 422
    Claver 460

We all need to hope that those numbers are better next year or we are real bad trouble this year.

That article ESPN made was horrible

There wasnt even any qualifications for to be ranked! Meyers, Elliot, Will, Claver havent even played a game yet!

It should have been for players with 2+ years exp. and avg. 20+ minutes a game!

    That article was irrelevant

I disagree polling a 104 experts on the value of each player in the NBA certainly has merit. Rookies are generally ranked low because they have yet to accomplish anything in the NBA. However, not all rookies will be ranked so low, which is evident by the exclusion so far of Joel Freeland and Damian Lillard. While I do not like some of the rankings I have a very hard time justifying that they are wrong.

Clearly, we all hope these men far exceed the expected production for such low rankings but until they do these numbers are pretty justified.

Out of all these players expect to see Elliot make the biggest jump if he stays healthy.

I think Leonard, Barton and Williams will all jump 150-200+ spots by the end of the season.

    ehhhh I dont knoo

How you wanna bet that Kwame was ranked in the top 150 at least when he came in the league????

Incoming rookies should not be ranked with other players that are already play in the NBA. Who even cares who is ranked past 100. Who comes to espn to see which NBA players are ranked 400-430???
None of this irrelevant to me. They could of put Lillard at 500 for all I care. The guys will prove themselves. Let them play before you say whos better than who.

While these lists might not matter much, a large number of the experts polled are currently active members of general mangers offices and suggest the value that certain players have in terms of trades. These lists are not the end all be all of trades but they certainly do influence decisions and Portland is not seeing real pretty at the moment.

Are you sure any of the 104 experts are "active members of general managers offices" ??
When I read the list most of them were writers and analysts. Im not saying these guys are dumb and dont know anything. But Im pretty sure they are not experts in trade value, that is what GMs specialize in

I am certain none of them are general managers but several of them consult with or have worked with general managers is the past.

Elliot's getting the shaft on that list. He's a better player than Sasha and Ronnie, and even Nolan.

With so many of these so called experts being fans of the big market teams...it figures! The only number I want associated with a player is the number on his jersey! Elliot has played NBA games in limited minutes and so has Nolan. Sasha and Price are vets..Pavlovich has played in the NBA finals

My first thoughts also in reviewing that list and I agree with Hawes with regard to EWill as well.

i am hoping Damian Lillard is not in the top 100 because i like watching player proving doubter wrong. We to start thinking whose our trio will be Lillard, LA, and BATUM. and our 4th best player will be in the future Meyers Leonard. i hope our starting five average more then 10 points except LA because i expect 22 points from him this season. our twin towers will be LA and Meyers. JJ hickson will probably be the 6th man of the year if he produce the same thing when he came to portland.

I assume Joel Freeland will be popping up on the list shortly as will Jared Jeffries. Then it will likely be Lillard, Hickson, Matthews. I think we will only end up with Batum and LA in the top 100 which is my guess.

If JJ puts up the numbers he was at the end of last season he is going to be a strong candidate. We have a bunch of young players in a small market. I'm not surprised at all that they are overlooked by most of the media.

Matthews regression certainly did not help his rank. Hickson jumped up but how much is such a limited sample.

Batum has done nothing to elevate himself any higher than 50th.

LA should be around the same level between 15 and 20

Your right on how where Lamarcus should be around on the list.

In my opinon though he should be top 10

He could be close. I have Lebron, Wade, Kobe, Howard, Durant and Paul clearly above him. Rose when healthy is also above him in my list. Love, Rondo, Carmelo, Bynum, Westbrook are also pretty close.

LeBron, Durant, Kobe, Rose, Love, Paul, Westbrook, Love, Melo, then I would have Lamarcus.
    (Not in Order ^^)

Lamarucs can lead a team and take over games. Bynum is better suited as a second or third option,

Difficult to justify a gaping disparity in rank between Lillard and Barton.  Neither has seen one minute of action in the league and an argument could be made that Barton was nearly as impactful a player at the collegiate level as was Lillard.  Where selected in the draft perhaps?  Too much subjectivity in play.  If potential is among the variables used, this list is no better than yours or mine.
Interesting to this observer that the very thing apparently seperating DLill and Barton...potential...is not even considered in EWill's ranking...a player who has played at this level and performed well.  Subjectivity and inconsistency = Offseason fodder.

In all fairness, E.Will was doing his thing until Chris Johnson dislocated his shoulder in practice. So lets see how he does in a full season, hopefully without sustaining an injury.

If we tally by production and not popularity, L.A. is in at least the top12. As far as PF's are concerned, there arent many that are better than the L Train.

This whole ESPN player power rankings article is complete rubbish. They ranked Patty Mills, the Australian national team point guard 307th, after he averaged more points than any other player at the Olympics.

He also does not get many minutes in the NBA so no reason to move him up the list until that production happens in a real game.

Damian will pass 3 lobs to LA, Hickson, Meyers apiece and add 3 more for 3 point shooter. i think 15-12 is reasonable since our team is fill with shooter. Damian is coming home for the ROY
