ESPN.com's voters see Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard as the second most likely candidate to win the 2012-13 NBA Rookie of the Year award, trailing only the New Orleans Hornets' No. 1 overall pick and overwhelming favorite, Anthony Davis.

After Lillard: Charlotte Bobcats forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Golden State Warriors forward Harrison Barnes, Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal and Toronto Raptors big man Jonas Valanciunas.

Here's David Thorpe of ESPN.com on Lillard.
    -----------------------------------------
Lillard showed us all during the Las Vegas summer league games that he is among the most talented point guards to enter the league in the past five seasons. He is even more polished than Derrick Rose and Russell Westbrook when they first arrived in the NBA, yet more explosive than most any other of the previous rookie point guards that we have seen.

If he gets the green light to make plays, like John Wall, Westbrook, Rose and Kyrie Irving, then undoubtedly we'll see a great number of stellar scoring and passing nights from Lillard. Next to a post presence like LaMarcus Aldridge and veterans like Nicolas Batum and Wes Matthews, Lillard will be able to generate offense through his teammates more than most rookies will be given the chance to. This means his chances at scoring more efficiently are strong. He has the potential to average 16 points and six assists per game with a steal or so thrown in there, too. And though he's not the shooter Irving is, with the weapons around him Lillard can get enough open looks from deep to possibly average better than 35 percent.

I think Lillard got this. Anthony Davis is better on the defensive end. Not many rookies won ROY based on their defense talents. Okafor was probably the last one.  Besides Davis does not have a good PG to help him out. Also he is a freshman.
Lillard has a better chance than Davis. I wouldnt be surprised if MKG or Barnes has a nice season.
But Damian Lillard got this because........hes Damian Lillard.

Damian has the second best shot at winning but I think it is behind Beal and not Davis. Beal is going to play with a great guard in John Wall and Brad only has to make shots and play good defense to win. Damian must learn everyone's game and run the team as well as being productive and having great stats himself. Davis is going to be a great player but he needs a good center to play well in the NBA so he can play the 4 spot and look good on backside help defense. I have the feeling the "BROW" will be looking up off the floor a lot from being ran over by the much stockier competition of the NBA. Just back him down to the low block then run him over. Who would I like to see do this........ (can you say JJ Hickson or L.A.?)

Welcome to Damian Lillard famous legacy BlazersNation. I expect him to be the next Damian Lillard whose games is unstoppable with one of the greatest power of all-time in LA. I think that Meyers will be setting up the screen for Damian no way he going inside the pack while LA is looking for a ally-opp dunk and Damian threw the ball in the air and LA slam dunk it for a NBA FINALS CHAMP FOR THE 2ND TIMES IN FRANCHISE HISTORY IN 2014. AFTER THE GAME DAMIAN LILLARD IS THE NBA FINALS MVP.

Austin Rivers is a bust. He is like a Jammal Crawford in a PG body. They made a big mistake drafting him.  If they were smart they would have drafted Leonard or Mo Harkless.

AD will be force to play center when robin lopez get to the bench because NO have no true center on  team and AD will not win ROY in term that he is only good on defense, and Austin Rivers will be shooting the ball 99 percent of the times

So i had a crazy idea. Trade Batum+10th+Freeland to Washington, and in return we get Nene and 3rd pick, that would allow us to draft Ot...

Assume we keep Batum, LO, Lillard, and Mathews.  What do we have that would interest Cleveland, Orlando, or Washington to give up their top three pick?  Nothing!!!!

well mccollum looks cool but lillard was a rarity when it comes to small school ballers being successful I don''t see 2 small school ballers 2 drafts in a row especially one comeing from a weak draft being anything spectacular

Potential out weighs them all are you serious OJ Mayo has more potential than Batum, then you add in what Landry and Barnes provide plus whatever 2 first round picks offer and it is not even close.
