Well if they do they would be either the 7th seed or the 8th seed.

Wasnt there already a trade similar to this??
Well if Lillard looks like a stud and avg 15+ points 5+ assists then I think we can. Because Batum, Wes, LA are going to get there share, if we can get another scoring option, we can be very good. Also our bench is decent. If Elliot, Meyers, Nolan, play good then that can help us out a lot. Hopefully they can produce enough to give the starters some rest.

I'm just as excited as the next person about the future of the Blazers and can't wait until the start of the season. It's awesome to see everyone elses excitement and hope for the upcoming season, this is what makes us the best fans in the NBA. I'm not going to make any predictions of making the playoffs, although it would be a great bonus and a possibility, but instead focus on how well they come together and look for the improvement throughout the season. It could be a disappointing season as far as their record goes, but sometimes the most memorable seasons are the ones when you get to watch your team come together and start to become a team.

One awesome thing is that this core that then Blazers have wont be broke up anytime soon. JJ is the only good piece we have that contract expires next year. Next year will be exciting to see the new young nucleus that we have. Batum, LA, Wes, Lillard, Freeland, Meyers, Nolan, can be the next big team in the league in a couple years. Very Exciting.

    GOO BLAZERS!!

As a Blazer fan I don't think they will make the playoffs. They missed on Hibbert, gave Batum too much money when he doesn't even want to be in Portland. Our best chance of competing is Having Lilliard start at the 1. Mathews at the 2. Batum at the 3. (if we don't trade him) Hickson at the 4 because he is the real deal and LA at the 5. A small line up will give this team the best chance to keep up up tempo west coast. It is frustrating because last year the Blazers were supposed to be contenders now all of a sudden we are back in the rebuilding stage all i want to see is the second round, but that doesn't look like it is going to happen any time soon.

No they won't, but I think it's ridiculous how they were labeled by Scott Howard Cooper as a team that can contend for the worst record in the league.  Sorry to burst that idiot's bubble, but I find Portland to be way better than NOH, SAC, GSW, HOU, CLE, WAS, PHX, CHA, TOR, DET and possibly better than Utah and Minnesota.

I see no reason why we shouldn't make the playoffs. Next season's lottery is the last thing on my mind when it comes to the Blazers. Great teams don't constantly have revolving rosters. We can become a great team. Curious to see how Stotts uses the roster and gets on on a winning path.

Actually, youth is our secret weapon and Elliot Williams is going to surprise a lot of people. Being such a new team opposing teams won't be able to prepare for us...that's an asset in itself

@ Siccolo...I didn't mean to come across as a supporter of Page's theory.  I personally DON'T believe a post season berth will be happening here.  Interesting isn't it, that the man almost single-handedly responsible for willing this Portland team to playoffs past, now looks to be standing directly in their way.  Don't think for a second that Roy isn't aware of that either...

We better, we have a Great core of returning players in L.A. Batum, and W.M. D.L, while young, looks way better then Felton did, so I think we got better at that position, if we can get good production and Defense from our centers we should grab that 8th spot.

    Spurs 3.
    Clippers 4.

Not happening, I love Lillard but it will take until next season for him to become the leader we need in order to get into the playoffs. We have so many new pieces that need to mesh it is overly optimistic to see them as anything but a lottery team.

I agree.  Further, in order to reach what Olshea has repeatedly referred to as "sustainable success", hitting lottery is the way to go.  Another one and done playoff appearance does nothing but get everyone jacked, only to be disappointed AGAIN.  First round and outs do nothing for the future of this franchise.  If they did...we wouldn't be where we are today.  Those who don't learn from history, are destined to repeat it.  We are building something special, and have just begun to lay the foundation.  I will be here from now till the paint gets slapped on and all the bandwagoners come back.

Playoff experience would be good for a young team. I don't think making it to playoffs after not making it  is a bad thing.  If this team could make it, I think it would give them a bit of a swagger and cause them to gel together, which would propel them into a second or third round run in the next couple of years. Obviously we arent winning a title anytime soon, but you must always have a goal and for STotts not to have the playoffs in his sights this year would be quite disappointing. I don't know, but I'm staying Optimistic.

i think the top seed is between 3 teams and it could go any way but this how i think its gonna go
    1. OKC theyre driven by losing to the heat
    2. LAL kobe wants six and its hard to believe with that starting 5 they wont go top 2
    3. SAN theyre TOO experienced
    4. LAC theyll be a little better than last year
from here down it gets a little messy 5 and 6 could be swapped and 8 is up for grabs for three teams i think
    5. MEM a good solid team who i thought was gonna beat the clipps last year
    6. DEN iggy brings this team up a notch like i said this could be the grizzlies spot
    7. DAL dirk always does his thing and they have some youth now
ok this is up for grabs but i think itll go like this
    8. MINN ricky rubio and kevin love also if broys knees are fine theyll be a strong 8 seed
    9. UTAH good team just not good enough
    10. PORT if injuries occur with any of the teams above us we have a chance

    Okc
    LAL
    SAS
    LAC
    DEN
    MEM
    DAL
    POR/UTAH/MINN

We will see. Roys knees may be just done. Minn has little depth at SF. Utah probably lost Josh Howard. So they have little depth. Very Young team. Then theres us. Were young and have little depth. We will see who stays healthy. I think Portland/MINN/ and Utah have better rosters than MEMphis but we will see.

Its a new day people. OKC,LAL,LAC,DAL,Minn., are all an injury away from missing the playoffs. We have had a string of bad luck for a decade. Our luck is bound to change. Teams win Championships. Each night a different person steps up to make plays. Consistency and cohesion win games. Maybe its just me, but im a diehard loyal Blazer fan. Thats not going to change. I critique our squad, but i dont abandon them. I sell Mazda's for a living. I deal with people who trade in their current  cars for something dependable. Only because what they're currently driving has proven to be undependable. Mazda's are bulletproof. Am i biased because i sell them ? Absolutely. Am i biased against other teams because im a Blazer fan ? Absolutely. Lets see if these guys that we currently have are as dependable as my Mazdas before we start talking about trading them in.

I hope we sweep every team lol.
But in my eyes we have a better team than 4 teams in the west that have a better team than us. And 4-5 teams in the east that are better than us. But my eyes are very biased because i am a die hard Blazer fan. I believe we can get the 5th seed in the West. We should get a 6-8 seed.

Unless the injury involves Durant running into Westbrook I don't see any way OKC misses the playoffs. They are just too deep. Same with LAL. They could lose any one  of their stars and would still have enough depth to carry the team. Just look at what Chicago did last year. LAC, DAL, and MIN however all have players that are important enough that their teams wouldn't be able to succeed without them. The same goes for the Blazers. If anything happens to LA (knock on wood) our season is over.

I think the this is the season where things actually go in the right way for Portland. This will be the season that age hits the Spurs. The season where someone in Dallas, Clippers or Denver will get injured. So much bad luck has hit the Blazers. This is the season where that bad luck will hit the other teams in the West.

Are we a playoff team? It's too early to tell. We haven't seen this team ball yet. I think there's enough talent on this team to make a run at it. There are many question mark teams like ours in the Western Conference. Houston, Phoenix, Minnesota, Dallas, Utah. We'd have to knock some of these cats outta the race by sweeping the season series. I think we'll have a tough time against the big powerhouse teams, but who wouldn't?
