Well if they do they would be either the 7th seed or the 8th seed.

    I don't think so :/

Top seeds will have OKC, LAL, LAC, SAS and DAL (Yeah, Dallas). Even Denver and Memphis will be in play-offs. They are strong enough. And what about last spot? That would be fight. Utah Jazz, Minnesota and Portland. Phoenix would be confused by losing Nash (offense leader) and Hill (defense leader), but they have chance too. Attacking last play-off spot can also Golden State (one problem - health) and Sacramento (if they can work it out, they are strong team, but I don't think so).

Blazers have the strongest chance at 8th seed since we are the deepest out of all the teams that is fighting for 8th seed

Utah and Minny are deeper than Portland

    PG Lillard/Smith Williams/Foye  Rubio/Barea
    SG Matthews/Williams Hayward/Burks  Roy/Ridnour
    SF Batum/Barton Howard/Williams  Kirilenko/Budinger
    PF Aldridge/Hickson Millsap/Favors  Love/Williams
    C  Freeland/Leonard Jefferson/Kanter  Pekovic/ Stiemsma

From that three teams we have best starting lineup. But bench... we have worst bench (sign some players for God! One SG/SF (Redd, Pietrus, Williams etc.) and one PG (Flynn) and we will have really good team.).

This is the reason why alot of us were against resigning Batum. Not because of his potential but because now all of our cap space is used up and can't sign other players.

O Ye' of little faith. I believe that Barton and Claver are going to be a handful. Claver, a 6'10 sf with mad hops and range is going to get some run. And he plays decent "D". I think Nolan is going to have his best year as a Blazer. If we keep Sasha,he too is a guy who can give you good minutes. He's fearless and you need a guy like that on your squad. He's also a decent three point shooter. Id send Babbitt to the d-league in order to get Sasha some run.

Well If Lillard makes a huge impact like some of the other point guards that were drafted in the same are he was, than that can help our chances greatly. He could be the best point guard out of Timberwolves and JaZZ.

Another big question is how will AK47 and Roy turn out. If both become close to what they were before they left the NBA than that means trouble. If not than Batum and Wes should take care of them come the season.

Josh Howard is a FA hopefully he doesnt stay with Utah lol. Then all they have is Marvin which Batum is already better than.PF is strongest position in this Division. With Milsap, Favors, Aldridge, and Love.

Portland is lacking in the Center position so Al and Pekovic might tear us up.

So there is alot of ifs but Portland has the chance to have a better PG SG and SF. Or have a chance to be the worst team in the Northwest and just get killed by everyone. Who knows though?? What if Lamarcus breaks his back? What if Kevin Love tears his ACL?? What if Al Jefferson hurts his spine?? Who knows what will happen in 2012-2013 NBA Season?

We want the 6th or 7th seed in the West this season to get into the 2nd round of the playoffs. We're not getting out of the 1st round if we have to play the number 1 seed this year. The way I see it, there are 3 teams in the NBA we won't beat anytime soon...maybe 4. This is all pure conjecture assuming major players don't go down with injuries for the lakers, heat, etc...My biggest hope is sweeping the Wolves and splitting the games with OKC

I just want to watch a team that doesn't quit playing hard 1/3 of the way through the season. If we make the playoffs, great! Terrific!! How exciting!!! If we miss out on the playoffs, great! Awesome! We needed to keep that 1st round draft pick!!!

    Lakers better by a mile
    Thunder better by a mile
    Spurs better by a mile
    Clippers much better
    Memphis much better
    Denver better
    Jazz better

That leaves us fighting the Wolves, Suns, Warriors and Mavs for the final playoff spot. Barring injuries it does not look likely that we make the playoffs.

I am a true optimist.  If we can bring in a coach who can unite this team as a team and play as a team and are willing to sacrifice their minutes to win and do what is best for the team verus their own stats, we will win.

Jack Ramsey did that in 1977 and that is exactly what we need now.

Take a lesson from the past.

Until we are eliminated we are going to shock the world haha... no but seriously I think the only way you have a chance to win is a point guard who can close games and more importantly not loose games.. be able to draw fouls, make free throws, not turn the ball over, and dictate where the ball goes in crunch time.

We were good with L Hollins... Porter... even Roy qualified the way Nate used him 1-4 iso

If Lillard delivers... like Rose to the Bulls.... I think if you have a premier point guard you have a chance.... and if you don't you have no chance.

Lillard alone running the show gives me hope for the future.  It all starts with the point.

I wouldnt be surprised if Memphis were struggling to make the playoffs. Im not saying they wont but they lost a huge piece in Oj Mayo. Everyone knew he wouldnt stay but that does not mean they wont miss him. Without him they have no bench. Blazers have a better bench, SG, and PF than Memphis. I feel we are a better team than them.

@Cmeese how is Mavs below Utah??? Collison, Mayo, Brand, Nowitski, Kamen, Carter, and Marion. They have a squad! Utah isnt near them ino.

Luckily for the Blazers Milsap wont be on the Jazz much longer. He will be testing FA next year. Josh Howard is also currently a FA so he might not even be in a Jazz uniform this year. We have a chance to better than the Jazz.

I  have high hopes for the Blazers!!

I guess I am just not a believer of Dallas.

    Collison is an average pg.
    Brand is getting old.
    Kaman cannot stay healthy.
Carter is pretty much just a glorified role player.

That team has only one defender in Marion so they will struggle especially with age and injuries.

Blazers will be at least have the 6th seed in the west because Utah is young, Mavs is old, Mem is injuries prone, and Denver is same as us, but we are younger but same

have to see a few games to see how the guys mesh. if they play together like a team should i think they can do quite well. if they play like last year i guess the plus side is i wont be spending money to visit the rose garden.

I think that Meyers need to learn from LA about the mid-range game and if he does good as LA he then will have a better career then LA, i think the Blazers will have the same path the to FINALS like the OKC did

Well we did improve at our PG position this year with Damian who will score more and be more efficient than what Felton last year.

We did lose Crawford, but he did shoot a lot of shots and did not play much D. We did not really improve there, but we wont be missing him much. This will leave more time and shots for Wes, Barton, and Elliot (who will finally play).

We lost GW but now Batum will be a year older and be the starting SF. We also acquired Victor Claver. A very athletic wingman. He also plays D. Jeffries might get some minutes here also, hes a great defender. I think we improved at this position.

The PF position did not change.

I think we improved at the Center position. Camby who was often injured and getting older is gone. We also lost Joel. We did acquire Joel Freeland. A great C who can shoot and play D. We drafted Meyers Leonard. A 7'1 athletic center who can run the floor.

We got better at the PG slot.
We did not get better or worse at SG
We did not get better or worse at SF
We did not get better or worse at PF
    We got better with C.
I think we got a better team than last year. We were 28-38 last season with a .424 w/l. Without barring injury I think we can improve to 48-34 (around there) This seems like a huge improvement, but we did lose many games near the end of the season because of injuries to LA, and Batum. Also we did not have Camby and Wallace. 48-34 is a very solid season and can maybe fight for the playoffs in the west.

    GO BLAZERS

Projecting the playoffs before the season ever starts is sort of ridiculous. Hoping to climb into the playoffs is more realistic. I think instilling confidence in the Blazers roster starts with the coaches and fans. Sort of like quantum physics....anything is possible! The Blazers are almost never projected to go far before seasons begin...as a lifelong fan I'm used to starting under the radar and kind of like that identity. Looking at different rosters throughout the league I think we have as good a chance as any team to get to the second round. I like our chances!

i enjoy being the underdog as well, i just hope our players embrace the role and use it as motivation instead of accepting defeat like they did last year. i think lillard and leonard have motors though, i think we have a roster full of motors actually, so if batum hops on board it'll be an exciting year.
