Most of us have watched Batum play, but what's the thoughts on Claver and Freeland?

I've watched both of the UK's games and Freeland in my opinion has been fairly impressive. Averaging 11 points and 7.5 rebounds in 28 minutes in 2 games. He had a tough matchup yesterday against Nene of Brazil, and  played strong, he gave back everything Nene gave him, and showed he has a good shooting touch.
Not saying he's going to be an all star but I think he will surprise a few of us this coming season.

I haven't watched a Spain game yet, so don't know how Claver has been doing.

I appreciate toughness as much as skill sometimes. If for no other reason that you cant teach it. Freeland,Leonard, and hopefully if kept Pryzbilla are three tough hombre's. Guys like Freeland and Leonard need to be able to knock down open outside shots when L.A. is being doubled in the post. If they can do that, L.A. will be able to work his magic on the inside with out worrying about help defense collapsing on him. The key is for the bigs to know their role and play them. I, scratch that, i mean we dont need centers who want to dominate the rock Ala Dwightmare. Our pivot needs to embrace the role of protecting the paint, snatching boards, and setting brickwall screens. Freelands game as he now plays is great if you're playing Golden State of old, [ theyve got Bogut now] or 90% of the east coast teams, but out here in the west, land of the bigs, its more of a cerebral game. Call me optimistic, but i see JJ Hickson having a great year, and, i think the other JJ, [ Jarred Jeffries] playing well alongside him as a back up center. Some guys just flourish with a change of venue and scenery.

Freeland just had very good game against Spain scoring 26 including 3/6 for three against Spain and even once blocked Ibaka shot , Claver played only 6 mins.

I watched that match w/ Spain too. Scored 25 points, added 7 rebounds. Averaging 15,7 points (FG 48,8%; 3PT 27,3%; FT 100%) and 6,7 rebounds in 30 minutes. He is really nice surprise, I underrated him.

Freeland playing against Ibaka and the Gasols today is dominating 10-19 shooting with 25 points and 8 rebounds.

So far Freeland has matched up against Mozgov of Russia and played well, Nene of Brazil and was great, and today faced both Gasol brothers and Ibaka of Spain and had his best game of the olympics so far. I think he will be just fine in there against most bigs and is NBA ready. He obviously can score, he can rebound and fight for rebounds, one weekness I think is somewhat on defense.

I didn't even notice Claver if he played.

Very impressed with Freeland. He is performing good against  Ibaka, Marc Gasol, Pau Gasol, Mozgov, and Nene!! He is proven he can play against NBA PF/Cs. Excited to see him probably start at C. He reminds me of a aggressive Mehemt Okur. Not as good as him though lol.

    Two great things about Freeland.

    1. He's obviously improving and rises to the challenge of tougher competition.

    2. He proved in the Spain game that he can match up against top front court talent in the NBA West.

I know he calls himself a PF, but I really think he could be our starting center... at least until Meyers is ready to take over.

Freeland will definitely be the starting center for Portland. The days of teams double and triple teaming LA are gone. We will have an entire starting five that can shoot from nearly anywhere on the court, and a PG that will find the one that's open.

I agree... we have some great rookie value contracts that filled some serious holes and many more scoring options for Lillard to distribute

Freeland is looking like a huge bonus if he can hang with centers... Leonard and Freeland is not a bad combo.. Beats Priz and Thomas

I think his most valuable asset is that he isnt afraid. I still want us to send Babbitt to the D-League so we can keep Pryz.

Joel Freeland led GB with 16 points and 7 rebounds today against australia. Freeland looked pretty good until Patty Mills shut down the whole team with a big 2nd half comeback. Mills had 39 points.

Only saw the 4th quarter of the France Nigeria game but Batum looked pretty good. He finished with 23 points, 14 came in the 4th. Batum kept France in the game as he sigle handedly matched every big shot of Nigeria's upset attempt. Don't know how many rebounds he ended up with, he had 2 or 3 in the 4th, it's hard to find box scores for the olympics for any team other than the US.

Not DPOY. All American. Player of the year in his conference twice. Past four years, McCollum, Muscala, McCollum, Muscala.

sign Iggy for 8-9M, Batum at the two, and Wesley off the bench! Draft Steven Adams (who loves contact, grew up playing rug-bee). Sounds NICE!

Im not impressed with Gortat. Everyone wants him but he seems mediorcre to me. He is the most realistic option since all it would take is the 10th pick, but I think he is old and declining.
