Former Trail Blazers star Brandon Roy was introduced in Minnesota this morning, and among the highlights from his press conference was his statement that it was not his decision to retire in Portland.

Here's the best of what's being said on the subject from trusted sources in Twitter, largely Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune:

Good luck, brah!  Hopes da best for ya but you prolly gonna end up nothin more than Andre Kirilenko's hall pass choice of the year.  Man oh man could I have used one a them hall passes back in the joint.  One damn conjugal woulda saved a lot a brothers from goin insane.

You know Kirilenko lookin at Pretty Boy Roy and tempting to swing some clubs when Masha goes to Russia.  Hey Roy, watch yer bunghole!

You and I have something in Common, Common:)  Wish BRoy the best, always.  Class athlete, Portland was blessed to have him for the time we did...period.  With Roy though, putting my fan-dom aside for a moment, I worry about the MAN (not the player) and his family, particularly his kids.  I wonder at what age they might have to help take care of dad.  I know of the drive, the passion the man must possess...his thirst unquenched, however sometimes we need those closest to us to save us from ourselves.

I wrote on these boards two years ago I felt the team and organization was putting too much of the team's load on one horse.  That horse, Roy, was more than willing to accept the challenge and was clearly the most capable.  Hearing him now say starter minutes has me thinking back...

Yeah I was one of them *blushes*. I was never a diehard fan of basketball until the 2011-2012 postseason. I could name every team, but I always forgot two. Kings and Blazers.

Do we really WANT to get noticed though? What good is it? I...

Yeah, he was tripping with that Scottie Pippen reference. Nowhere as good as him, BUUUTTT, I think he can be, if he plays like a man. In Euroleague, you are taught more about finesse, and the fundamentals. He needs to put a little more muscle on, ...
