The Can't Miss Game Of The Season Is...
    Lakers - Opening Night (22)
     55%
    TimberWolves - November 23 (13)
     32%
    Heat - January 10th (3)
     8%
    Thunder - January 13 (2)
     5%

After you’ve had time to digest the schedule, which game stands out to you as the game of the year?

Opening Night: Los Angeles Lakers - October 31st

Does it get much better then playing the Lakers, at the Rose Garden, on Halloween night? The season opener is always special but hosting our most hated rivals makes this one of more anticipated starts to the season in recent memory. Since the 2005 season, the Trail Blazers are 11-2 in their last 13 games against the Lakers in Rip City.

    Minnesota Timberwolves - November 23rd

Slowly but surely this has turned into one of the better rivalries in the entire NBA. The Trail Blazers had taken 16 in a row from the Timberwolves before Minnesota took the season series (3-1) during the condensed 2012 season. But the rivalry really intensified this offseason when the Wolves targeted restricted free agent, Nicolas Batum, threw the kitchen sink at him with a 4 year/ $46 million offer and dared Rip City to match, which they did.

A Wolves team, might I add, that already has a huge Northwest flavor, which features former Blazers coach Rick Adelman, former point guard Terry Porter, and Lake Oswego alum Kevin Love. Speaking of Love, he and Aldridge are arguably the top two power forwards in the game and anytime they battle one another head-to-head it’s worth the price of admission.

    Miami Heat - January 10th

It’s time to beat LeBron James at the Rose Garden. Whether he’s suited up for the Cavaliers or Heat, the Trail Blazers have lost five straight times at home to LeBron. After the performance he put on in the Finals, there’s no denying that he’s the best player in the league, bar none. Did I mention that Miami is the defending NBA Champs? Add all of that together and you have one electric environment. And maybe we could see Batum do this to James once more?

Oklahoma City Thunder - January 13th

The reigning Western Conference Champions make their first appearance in the Rose City. Regardless of what direction either team is headed in, these games, especially the ones in Portland always go down-to-the-wire. A lot of that has to do with LaMarcus Aldridge and his ability to take advantage of the Thunder inside. But it also has a lot to do with a lot of fans feeling bitter that the Sonics were taken away from Seattle, which makes it extra sweet to knock off the Thunder. And who can forget the blown “goaltending” call at the end of last year’s game? I know I haven’t.

This one is easy for me.  The defending champs come to town on my birthday, and on the heels of a memorable flagrant 1 in garbage time in summer league.

(Is there such a thing as a can't miss game THIS season??)  Also looking forward to booing Ray Ray when his Knickerbockers pay their annual visit.

Every year it's the Lakers. Last year it was L.A. This year's it's L.A. And in future years it's L.A. The fact that it's our Season Opener on Halloween take it to a whole other level. It's July, but I'm already counting down the days till October 31st. Beat L.A.!

Agreed with DHawes, the greatest rivalry here is, and always will be, Lakers. Add that it's our opening night, AND on Halloween, AND Nash has joined Kobe (I lived in Phoenix for 8 years, so this one's personal for me)... there's no way the small offseason melodrama of Batum's agent, the signing of Roy, and the hometown hero Love can match that kind of marquee.

The Timberwolves would need YEARS of screwing us over before that rivalry can be put on the same level as the one with Kobe "Don't #8 Me!" Bryant and his purple-royalty Lakers.

    Can't wait. GOOOOO BLAZERS!

I still think this season is the wrath of Kahn matchup with the wolves. Especially with BRoy on the squad and Love's battle with LaMarcus. I can't stand the Lakers but Minnesota really rattled my cage this offseason.

hard decision i have and always will hate the lakers, and love giving them a beat down in rip city. lebron taunting our crowed has pissed me off, OKC cheating to win games in our house with scott foster has pissed me off. and Minnesota went from a back up team i sort of rooted for to a team i hate with a passion for screwing us repeatedly this off season. i say we win them all.

As long as Nicolas doesn't go soft for it, Wolves. If nothing else, B-Roy will be back in the RG, and that will be the highlight of the year. Half Minnesota's staff and a chunk of their roster is all former Portland guys. This year could turn the Minny-Portland match up into a full-blown Northwest Division rivalry.

Every game is a "can't miss" to me and I'll watch all of them on League Pass. But the most thrilling are Lakers (I hate them to be honest and see them losing makes me very satisfied), Wolves (plenty of obvious reasons already mentioned). Pretty important is going to be beat the Warriors at least three times and prove them they not ready for us yet (as they ,like we are in a rebuilding mode, having some really good players involving K.Thompson who officially stated his love to Trail Blazers, lots of other interesting players, good young coach and there's a lot circumstances letting them feel they can make a stronger challenge to establish themselves in top 8 of West (like we want) )

Actually I am kinda waiting to see how DL fairs against CP3 and Rondo. So my cant miss games are against the Clips and Celtics. Of the choices above I would have to say T'wolves and Roy would love to be there and be apart of the standing ovation.

The Lakers is the biggest rivalry simple as that. Thunder are getting close but as long as Kobe resides in Laker town they are and will be the biggest game of the year.

I'd say the Lakers but I voted T-Wolves simply because I thought Lakers would have been dominating the poll.  There is no reason to miss openning night.  We've got 2 rookies who, as of now, will be starting for us.  We also hate the Lakers.  It's Lillard vs Nash.  Can't get much better than that.  But I voted T-Wolves also because Brandon Roy is simply amazing and I can't wait to see him return to the Rose Garden and get a standing ovation.  It'll also be interesting to see how Batum does against the team he "oh so badly wanted to join".

Why does everyone here think the Lakeshow is a Blazers rival? Because of losing in Western Conference Finals? Because rivalries are two-ways and the Blazers are not even on the Lakers' or Laker fans' radar...kinda sad to obsess.

We've been rivals since Day One. Actually, Oregon and So Cal teams don't like each other in general. I know the Ducks and Beavs both can't stand either LA school. And yes, we are all aware the Lakers have our number when it comes to the playoffs. We'd be naive to think otherwise. But really, only the Celtics can hold a candle to LA in terms of history. And if you don't think it's a rivalry, check out the Rose Garden during Blazer/Laker games. Not only do the fans get into it, but Kobe seems to take each loss in Portland more personally year after year.

We will beat the Lakers because the day before that game the Lakers will play against some one. i think DL will outlasted Nash, Kobe will beat Wes, Batum will win against some one, LA beat Pau, and Bynum of course will beat Meyers in this game but not the next one

DHawes22 - First off--and I don't believe you took it this way, but just in case--I want to clarify that I wasn't trying to slight the Blazers or anything with my earlier comment. Obviously I'm new on this board and certainly don't want to come out of the gate rude.

I should also clarify that I am a Lakers fan, raised in southern California and my dad lived in Minnesota until 1962 so he followed the Lakers there and has always had an affinity. I went to school at Oregon though, so the good majority of my friends are Blazers fans and I like them to a degree (unless they're interfering with the Lakers winning haha). However, I guess the meat and potatoes of what I was getting at is that it seems to me, having gone to Blazers/Lakers games in the Forum, Rose Garden, and Staples Center, that this "rivalry" is decidedly one-way. Point being, the Lakers and Lakers fans do not consider the Trailblazers a rival in the least. Now, what you mentioned above is true; the Garden is totally rocking when the Lakeshow is in town (I was fortunate enough to be there in 2010, the seemingly only time the Lakers have won in that building), but the Garden is a pretty rocking venue no matter the opponent. Great fans.

I would think the "Can't Miss" game to go to would be the T-wolves for reasons threefold: First, it's a division game so it holds some more importance in the playoff picture. Second, the recent acquisitions/attempted acquisitions of former and present Blazers players and staff by Minnesota has got to be annoying. Third, we all know how endeared to K-Love Ducks fans are and there is a huge overlap there with Blazers fans.

@J.Futuristic, two posts on this board. One to say we're meaningless to the Lakers and another to say you're a Lakers fan. With all due respect, dude, what are you doing here? Are you a Lakers/Blazers fan? You'll find out after a couple of broadcasts from Mike and Mike that most die-hard Blazer fans consider that a logical impossibility. Lol. Hate is a strong word, and there isnt a Lakers fan alive that deserves that kind of mentally energy being utilized. Probably the same way they feel about us. Rivalries are always healthy. Keeps the Fans sharp. I follow all Laker moves closely. Not because i like them, but on the contrary, its important to know your enemy. Them acquiring Nash is a problem. But Nash is going to have to D up. If he thought we were a problem when he was at Phoenix, wait until he gets a taste of the atmosphere when he comes to the Garden in a Lakers Jersey.

Not sure when Nash's motor is going to go but we saw Kobe's slow down last year which makes him almost human in basketball terms. Bynums 'Tude is going to be the X-factor especially since the Lakers dangled him to get Howard if Bynum grows up this off season and plays ball we will have problems ifnot than I do like seeing the Lakers blow up.

it probably seems one sided because lakers fans are generally ban wagon fans that only like them because they win and don't know a thing about basketball. they go to the game to show off how rich they are and it has nothing to do with an affinity for the team. every laker game i see on TV the crowd seems stagnant and disinterested, probably watching their phones for kardashian updates instead of the game. blazer fans are educated in the sport and passionate about their team, we hate the lakers because they pay double the payroll and basically buy championships. we are a small market team with the rowdiest, loudest, most pasionate fans in the NBA, and we have no problem booing a bunch of band wagoners out of the rose garden. it's all in good fun, of course. ;)
