    2013 1st Round Draft Pick

JJ Barea - I hate him on opposing teams, but I think he would be a great fit for the Blazers and he is a great PG

Nikola Pekovic - Good Tough Man in the Middle who is not afraid to mix it up.

    Or just Barea and Pekovic.

Barea's contract is horrible, no thanks.  Also, the 2013 draft isn't supposed to be that great, so I'd try to shoot for a pick further down the line, maybe '14 or 15.

He signed a 4 year 20mil contract last year. He is a little over priced at 5-6mil a year. But that is what a backup point or big costs you these days.

We already got our JJ. Barea is short POS so while I love Pekovic he is a FA next year and the TWolves only legit center. So any deal for him would require us to eat bad contracts so that they could go out and pick up amnestied Haywood.

Don't know if it just hasn't been announced yet, but are we possibly lookin at Haywood? Can we afford him with the Batum situation?

Batum would be getting nearly $12m a year which is way over priced.  I hated JJ when he played for Dallas, but as a runt PG who is not afraid to get hit in the paint, and can get results, then we get a true big man in Pekovic with a future Draft Pick I do not see what the down side is.

We will be at approximately $10M towards the cap and we have really added tome work ethic to this team which has been sorely missing.  If we match Batum, we have a player who does not want to be here and he and his agent have made it abundantly clear, so how do you know if Batum will give his all for the Blazers.

    Just a thought.

If your trade works out fine but I would rather just get 2 picks and an expiring contract for Batum then what your proposing. However, with your deal we would need to keep Pekovic long term and his is a unrestricted free agent next year so that might not happen. Plus if we get crap for a low pick which happens around 70% of the time then we traded Batum or for an over paid Barea.  Ouch.

Sign Batum and go after Brendan Haywood.  We get him for $3m and Cuban eats the rest.

This was fine before we signed Freeland we need to give him and Leonard real minutes so we know what we got at C.

personally I would like to get Williams and a first for Batum.  Since Batum and Williams play the same position and Min is complaining their wing offense is not as good as it should be what is the problem giving Williams in the trade.

I think Batum and Freeland for Pekovic, Williams and a future first rounder perhaps in 2015 or 2016.

If we are saying let him walk then why would we not have traded him for two firsts plus a sf from another club.  You either trade or match never let him walk.  My opinion

Portland should try and involve maybe a third team such as Indiana, still work out a deal to grab Hibbert and maybe Indiana gets some Picks, Freeland and the crap players Minnesota wants to give up... we get Hibbert and Minny gets Batum... almost even money.     That would make our line up plenty of growing room and time... just a thought

Same here.  Like Roy as a person, alot.  As far as the Wolves are concerned, thank God his contract is heavy with performance incentives.  We agree.  That's Khan though.  All the way back to his days with the Pacers.  He definitely has a rep.  He's known as the idiot savant around these parts. Technically, he's smarter than all of us when it comes to the bottom line, but he's socially inept.  There's no "front office" in this town when it comes to the Wolves.  It's Kahn.  But, he's EXTREMELY shrewd, and now his job is on the line.  Interesting side-note.  Not sure if you're a hockey fan.  The Wild signed two of the most coveted free agents (Zach Parise and Ryan Suter) in NHL history for a total of 196,000,000 over 13 years just a few days before the Wolves announced the offer for Batum and signed Roy.  The Wild and the Wolves have been under heavy scrutiny.  The Wild delivered, big time.  Now David is feeling the warm air working it's way down his neck.  -  Copy and paste from an early conversation, but this is how it goes when you're talking about multiple sports.  Fletcher did something big (Wild).  Kahn has to deliver.

If we need to really trade Nic ... (I would keep him and not be worried as Pacers (Hibbert) and Hornets(Gordon)  ...but if we have to - the only thing that can persuade MUST be very high ranking player or prospect such a : Rudy Gay, Roy Hibbert, Paul George, Ersan Ilyasova, JaVale McGee , Klay Thomson, Bradley Beal, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist    etc.... Just pure speculation

I am not sure at this time if a trade is still possible.  If the offer has been delivered I think the trade possibility is gone.  Then we would have the match or go home.  I am disappointed we could not trade Batum for Derrick Williams and a first.  One source says Min dangled Williams for Batum and we rejected the deal and another source said they never offered Williams.  Whom do you believe.

We can match the offer and Jan 15 can trade Nic for a marquis player if we want to...there's nothing to lose there. Nic might actually love our new team and coach by then and we'll just have an expensive but talented young player on the roster. There's no rush except for our own impatience waiting for the team and coach to be assembled and enter preseason with a plan. I don't want Kyle Korver as a Batum replacement...his defense is horrible. If Nic dogs it when resigned he can come off the bench behind Claver and we can trade him to a bottom feeding team...see how he'll like that. We should find out more later today and I'll be glad to have some new Blazer news to think about.

Ricky I believe a trade is in the mix until we match (three days). Then we have to wait to trade him.
What does dangle mean? I am not sure the offer for Williams was ever made. Nic is worth a lot apparently. We should hold on to him.

So, what we are saying is that we can do a sign and trade with Min until we match.  Once we have matched then if we wanted to trade him we would have to wait until Jan 15 when we could trade him to any team not just Min.  This is different from what I was told initially.  I heard that we could do a sign and trade until the offer was presented to the league then the only options you would have match or let Batum go.  I am still holding out for a trade of Batum for D. Williams and a first.  Do we know if the offer was presented to the league and Portland.

"The Timberwolves, league sources say, are prepared to sign Batum to a four-year, $46.4 million offer sheet Sunday after repeatedly trying to trade for him. They have offered as many as three future first-round draft picks and even have dangled small forward Derrick Williams, the No. 2 pick in the 2011 draft."  Ric Bucher, ESPN The Magazine

That kind of money is about twice what he is worth Portland let him GO. If I was you Id even give him a ride out of town the guy doesn’t want to be here. Think what you can do with that money if not this year next.

I occasionally watch the blazers, but i'm more of a wolves fan. Batum one of my favorite players. about $12 mil a year is way to overpriced, but we just want to make you guys take a minute to look at him and see if he is really worth it to you.  The wolves would never trade Pekovic and barea plus a pick for batum. Pek is our future bigman. As for JJ I could care less, an injury plagued season with the wolves, plus he only showed up when he really wanted to. Derrick Williams is not a small forward he is a power forward he just played SF because the wolves have kevin love at the PF. I highly doubt that the wolves will trade williams because he had an up and down season last year. He had little training camp and no summer workouts. He is losing weight to be able to play SF, so the only way I really see us getting batum is if the blazers don't match. The only players I see the wolves getting rid of are Barea, Ridnour, and Wesley Johnson. So lets wait and see if you guys really do want batum cause he already stated he wants to play in minnesota, so why over-pay for someone who doesn't want to be there. Let minnesota over-pay for him

The Portland Trail Blazers have asked Nicolas Batum's agent, Bouna Ndiaye, to make sure Batum is in town to take a physical in the coming days, indicating that the team will match Minnesota's offer sheet of four-years, $46.5 million. At the current moment, Ndiaye says he doesn't know if the Trail Blazers plan to utilize the full three day window before they match.

No way the wolves will trade Pekovic. I am a blazers fan because of Batum, but I am a wolves fan more. the wolves won't trade pekovic. The only people I see them trading are jj barea ridnour and wes johnson. You don't want barea honestly he shows up when he feels like it cause he knows he will get his money
