Batum signs Offer Sheet with Minnesota

    A source close to the situation has indicated Nic Batum has just signed a Minnesota offer sheet. The contract is for 4 years, $46.5 million. The Blazers now have 72 hours to match the offer. 

    Neil Olshey has previously indicated that the Blazers intend to match any offers for Batum. Now with a signed offer sheet, it will be time to see if the Blazers stick to that plan

    11.625 million for Batum is disgusting

    If 11.625 mil is disgusting then we should have done the trade for two firsts and Korver for Batum.  That would be better than to see him walk with no compensation.  I think to match the offer now is the only option that makes sense.

    I would have done the two picks in a heart beat. By resigning Batum we cost ourselves a chance to offer a max contract to someone. Unless we renounce Luke, Elliot and Nolan. Without Batum we would have been looking at 20 million in cap room which would have been enough to give a max offer to someone like James Harden or Josh Smith and still pay JJ.

    We signed Hibbert to an offer sheet, and ended up with squadoosh. Not gonna freak out yet, Batum is still a Blazer.

    No offer sheet was ever turned in, apparently? Nice waste of time, Minnesota.

    it seems Min is between a rock and a hard place.  They cannot offer Batum the offer sheet and present it to Portland without making some additional roster changes.  They do not want to make the roster changes if Portland is going to match the offer.  The best way out is a S&T but they do not want to make it a fair trade value for value so there you are.  I think we need to stick to our position and get Williams and a first for Batum.  I wonder how this is going to end up.

    Incidently our 72 hours to match does not start until the offer goes to Portland and the league so we are not on the clock yet.  If the offer is set and we are going to match I think we should match right away and not prolong this any further.

    Let Batum walk. 11+ million is extremely expensive for a player with his seasonal averages..... It's almost a joke, I'm being absolutely serious. Let Batum walk for the following reasons: -more cap space next year -T-Wolves get stuck with the bill -In the future, it shows that if you won't to 'threaten' our cap space by screwing with our RFA's, you might get stuck with the bill. -he's simply not worth 11+ mill a year, this is absolutely a joke -If Batum keeps up the way he's been playing (mediocre), Twolves won't even be a championship contender.... -In the history of the NBA, very rarely do you see a passive / shy / reserved player have breakout years in the NBA and dominate. Please, let Batum walk. We're in rebuild mode.... Even if we resign him, we can't trade him, nobody will want to inherit that contract, lol.
