MAX Deal for Hibbert?

    huge pickup... Indiana might not match

    "The Portland Trail Blazers offered Indiana Pacers restricted free agent center Roy Hibbert a maximum contract after meeting with him in Washington, D.C., early Sunday, SI.com has learned.

    Pacers will match our offer, they have a lot of cap space as well. We won't get Hibbert unless Indiana makes a horrible decision by letting him go. On July 11th Hibbert will sign our papers, but Indiana has 3 days to match our offer, and they will. Don't get your hopes up. Further more, we offered him 4 years, Indiana can offer him 5. On top of that, Hibbert has said he wants to stay in Indiana.

    Agree, also a strategic plan to make Indiana blow some cap room space.... Force them to work with a bit less cash in the future.

    If they decide to match our offer to Hibbert, couldnt we then go after another solid pg target, George Hill ?

    Don't forget that the Indiana Pacers rosters is young and stacked! They can't afford to keep everyone they have if they are paying Hibbard a max deal. It's a plausible situation.

    Max is to much 12 max but I guess 14.5 is acceptable since we have such a glaring need.

    so if the pacers choose not to match and portland and houston offer a max contract, who does hibbert play for next season?

    He will only sign one offer sheet so whatever team he signs with will get him unless Indy matches

    The reports made it seem like Hibbert was siding with Portland not the other team. I think its us or the Pacers. At least from how I read in between the lines

    Im not impressed with Gortat. Everyone wants him but he seems mediorcre to me. He is the most realistic option since all it would take is the 10th pick, but I think he is old and declining.
