We'll miss Waiters

    I know so many people are high on Lillard and many here don't have a very high opinion of Waiters, but I believe him to be a better defender than Lillard, he pressured guys in Boeheim's zone, and he did pick pockets, plus he is strong and physical who is not shy of contact.  He has a knack for getting to the rim and he finishes strong.  Jay Bilas even agrees, the guy has a mean streak in him and he's really driven.  The fact that he was so effective as a 6th man for Syracuse and then goes 4th in the draft, well, obviously I'm not the only one who has a high opinion of him.  Back when the lottery was over, my thought was Waiters would probably be available at 20-21 if Portland traded down 11 to Boston, but Waiter's stock rose than probably anyone else in the draft.  I think Ross and others' stock climbed late, but Waiters going 4th overall was not expected, but I'm not one bit surprised... obviously people know what he can do and they see his potential.  man.

    I think he's a guy Portland really would have loved.  

    I don't think our GM would admit it for fear of denting Lillard's pride, but I really think if Waiters were there at 6, he would be in a Blazer uniform.  And the fact that Portland took Barton later I think could prove my point because Will brings a lot of the same abilities to the table as Waiters.  The sacrifice is that Barton's not as tough.  But Will is more than adequate and he has a lot of upside himself, plus he is a proven scorer, so I'm not disappointed with the sacrifice knowing we've got Lillard as well.  

    All in all, I'll give Portland's draft a high grade.  I'm not sure the story with our 41st; I imagine we're just getting some cash for Taylor.

    Carmelo Anthony is the only current Syracuse player that has done well in the NBA. The rest have been absolute busts. And their coach hasnt changed in all those years. There's something about Syracuse players and I am glad we didnt take the risk of drafting one.

    Nicholsan will be a solid player. Hes the new leagues Brandon Bass lol...funny Magic drafted him... He would have been a good back up to LA but would have been dumb at 11

    Lamb, Harkless, Henson would have been great...

    Okay, I''ll admit it, I like Asik better. I definitely think they will both have very good careers. And finally, someone who agrees, that Ibaka is a  shot blocker, not really a great defender.

    Henson will be solid down the road but his ceiling is more like Taj Gibson. He is a great role player but not elite like Sanders and Ibaka could be if people were not so willing to shoot on him.
