It was kinda cool; I sent a tweet to the trailblazers to pick Will Barton just before he was taken.  I also wanted Draymond, but he'd gone a bit earlier.  He's an exciting player.  Interesting too b/c I don't know Shawne's story, but if he stays, Portland has 3 memphis tigers.  lol.  Too bad one of our Tigers isn't Derrick Rose, but Calipari and now Pastner have done a real good job recruiting for Memphis.

I really like Will Barton, he's thin, and probably won't ever bulk up, he's just skinny, but he can score.

You know with Lillard, Will, and Meyers, Portland just got 3 guys that combine for over 50 ppg.

Will's more than just a scorer though, which is why I love him.  He rebounds and assists too.  He's played all 3 positions in the past, so he's more than capable of controlling the ball, and involving his teammates.  He shoots over 50% from the floor, but his downfall is his range.  I don't know that he'll ever be a marksman, but maybe.  We'll see.

I consider him a SG first and foremost, but because of his length, instincts, basketball IQ, and athleticism, he is a pretty natural rebounder, so some may say he's more of a forward, but I don't think he's over 6-6.  That don't matter, this guy can play.  He was conference player of the year at Memphis and if he didn't average 20 ppg, he was close.

I'd expect 20 minutes a night from Will, at least I hope so, and if Batum or Matthews ever get hurt, Barton can step in and, well, it's just an exciting pick.  Nobody talked about this guy before the draft, but I am glad Portland got this guy... especially since they didn't get Waiters :-P

Barton won't make the squad (imo).  Wasted pick.  Quincy Acy was my guy, but climbed board and was selected before Portland's two second round picks.  Watch Acy...6'7" with a 7'2" wingspan, athleticism to spare and most importantly, a strong motor.

If Portland keeps Nolan on the roster over Barton then they are stupid simple as that. Barton is a nice pick late he can score and rebound which is important and the fact he shot over 50% means he did not take many bad shots.

Got to believe he will shoot better than Nolan's 37.2%

anybody would be an upgrade over nolan. anyway, sounds like pretty high praise for barton.  what separates him from the top tier SG in the draft? why was he taken so late?

You guys are talking about what he did in High School/College. The NBA is a very different beast as we all know. Some guys you expect to do great in the NBA turn out to be busts and guys who you wouldn't expect to make it (Wesley Matthews) exceed expectations. Time will tell.

The kid isn't even strong enough to get his hands down before his face bounces on the hardwood, following a routine bump on a cut, pick, or screen.  Guys in this big boy league clean the bottom of their sneaks with spit that weighs more than Barton.  Built the way he is and lacking range...not good.

RIp Hamleton style player imo... I like the pick and many former NBA players were on board with Barton, Including former Blazers Greg Anthony and Damon..... 8 boards and good shooter many mocks had him going to Chicago in the first round.  I think he was def best available at 40

Yeah I hated Gangnam style after 2 days of over enthusiastic white people playing it multiple times. And I found it pretty funny. Chalupa man will be missed.

Or Dallas keeps pick and drafts a foreign player meaning he does not count against the cap. No one is just going to give up a mid level first round pick even in a weak draft for 2 mid second round picks in an even weaker second round of a weak dra...

Well it all depends on what you use that cap space for doesn''t it sign Tony Allen and now your Batum for Dunleavy trade just became Batum for Dunleavy and Tony Allen and starts looking a lot better
