Just finished watching sportscenter and watched Doug Gottlieb give his mock top 5 picks. Rumor says that Cleveland and Charlotte will swap pick 2 for 4 and 24. Gottlieb then has the cavs taking Beal at 2, has Robinson going to the wiz at 3, Barnes to Charlotte at 4. At 5,Gottlieb thinks sacramento would select lillard because gilchrist did not work out for them... That leaves us and gilchrist... Would we select him?

good post. i say yes BUT it sux we have SO many SFs. Batum, babbit, williams, Hickson, and NOW victor claver in the mix!?!?! If Lillard is off the board with the kings like gottlieb says kidd gilchrist would be SO sick in a portland uniform... do we resign batum then? trade down in the draft? or just take drummond? this draft is going to be F**CKING CRAZY lolol.

i think the kings will ultimately bluff on taking lillard and portland will end up with him...

*i also think portland should trade up from #11 in some way to select either a falling kidd gilchrist OR the young big drummond.

*walking away with Lillard AND drummond would be portlands ultimate draft day win i think.

williams is a guard,  hickson is a pf,  babbit is not a consistant 2nd option and better 3rd option but he will not drop to us

    You guys seen MKG play?

I'd like to ask cmeese if he likes MKG.  For all you people who are crying for Lillard, I'm not sure why you'd want MKG except that he's anticipated to be drafted higher than 6 and you like the idea of a better prospect falling on your lap.

You guys know MKG has no offensive game, right?  I mean, he has no shot.  His form is atrocious.  He throws bb's from the free throw line.

What MKG is, is a FAST, strong player who excels with his hustle and tenacity.  I think part of why he was such a strong defender is that he's so big and typically other SFs or SGs in college were simply smaller than him, so he smothered them.  But watching this guy get up and down the court really is amazing. He goes after every loose ball, he has incredible hops, and his vision and instincts really are amazing.  I would say he has a very high basketball IQ, but offensively his mechanics are really poor and he was just not one of Kentucky's scorers.  What he'll do is dissect some defenses and get some awesome jams, he is also a great rebounder because of his height, hops, and instincts, but in the NBA, I"m not sure if you can expect him to grab a lot of boards.  But he'll attack like a son of a bitch.

I really like the kid, he's young and has a chance to improve, but you all have to understand that teaching someone to shoot is one of the hardest things to do... guys like beal are shooting tre's from the incubator the same way Tiger was tee'ing off from the crib.  But MKG was not gifted with good shooting mechanics.  He honestly is the furthest thing from Lillard...

Somebody talked about polar opposites before and I think they were referring to attitude, but playing wise, Drummond and MKG have many similarities in what they bring to the table, whereas both are polar opposites in playing style to Lillard.

If you want defense, athleticism, hustle, get MKG, but do not replace Batum, because we'll need him to score.  lol.

All that said, I absolutely LOVE MKG because he propelled UK to a national championship, and that's what he does.  He wins.  He will do anything it takes from jumping in the stands, to fighting for boards, ripping balls out of guys' hands, running faster than anyone else to get to the ball, getting up and down the court fast as crap.  I mean, I don't know if he was the fastest guy in the NCAA's last year, but I would not be surprised.  He brings a lot to the table, but shooting is not his game and I doubt it'll be taught to where anyone will ever be satisfied with him offensively.

He doesn't do a lot of interviews, so I don't know if you see him talking anywhere online, but he was interviewed at the combines and he has a really bad stutter, so he didn't say much, but he said he wins games and that was pretty much all he said.  He's a winner and that's what he's going to bring to Portland... a winning attitude and he'll try harder than anyone.  The motor on this guy is amazing.  He could be in the best shape of anyone in college basketball, I don't know, that's a bold statement, but god he works hard.  Gotta love his fight and spirit.

I think if he slips to 6, there are some stupid GMs on teams above Portland.

one other thing about this theory of yours is I heard MKG only worked out with the teams owning the 2nd thru 4th picks and Drummond only worked out with the Kings and Blazers, now maybe who they workout doesn't always determine who'll pick them, but MKG should be a top 4 pick.  I dunno, him and drummond are somewhat considered offensive liabilities, but I can't see them sliding as much as some have speculated.

i'd take a workhorse over a silky smooth shot any day. case and point batum vs. matthews. batum has a prettier shot, and more upside potential, but he just doesn't have matthews motor. matthews improved much faster than batum and you can count on him every night, batum is more of a crap shoot you might get amazing you might get blah. if matthews shot is off he'll still play D and runt he floor even if he's terrible on a fast break, batum will camp on the line and disappear.

Yeah, MKG is the type of guy who will dictate action, you won't see him standing around and waiting; he'll attack offensively and defensively.  He doesn't shoot well, but he will cut through defenses and go right to the hoop.  MKG would be a great addition, but I always wonder about fans that don't want college ball because I think fans have certain expectations.  If a guy is anticipated the #2 pick in the draft, I think they expect to be getting Jordan, Durant, King James, or some other dominant player, but that's not MKG and never will be.

I would have Batum over Matthews every time. Matthews is never a consistent option. Oh, and I guess the hope of MKG slipping to six was crushed quick!

A bit of both sure. But mainly luck. And I don''t think we should go their way. They still ended up with the worst record.

Well then Siccolo, you''re going to be famous. Soon, all of like 30 people in Oregon will be laughing at your jokes. Nic Batum should not be traded. He is a great player. We overpaid for him no doubt but Minnesota put our backs to the wall.  <...

We would win with D12, but we would destroy the Blazers in the process. His whole attitude is wrong. Attention whore, spoiled little brat with delusions of being an ''alpha male''.

That''s why I don''t like him, Melo, and Kobe.
