The Center position is one of our biggest need areas and even if we take someone in the draft to fill this position we will still need to find someone in free agency so here is the rankings for the best free agent centers on the market.

    1. Roy Hibbert he was an Eastern Conference All-Star this past season. On top of that he was a solid post presence on both offense and defense. His rebounding is not quite what you want from someone 7'2" at 8.8 per game but he is not a liability there either. The question is how much better can his offense get if he can become a 15 point and 10 rebound a night player then he might earn the huge contract he is bound to get this summer.
    2. Brook Lopez he is a capable shot blocker and he has a bevy of offensive skills. He could easily average 20 points a night but the question is how bad can his rebounding get. If he can revert back to 8 rebounds a night then your looking at a new #1 option. Hibbert is the better defender but his offense is far below Lopez's level.
    3. Kevin Garnett there was a time when he would have easily been the best option on this list by far but his advancing age has him sliding to third. This past off-season Garnett showed he is still an all-star caliber player. The question is how long will he continue to produce or play? I say he will play an additional two or three seasons, which should offer a contender some good value.
    4. JaVale McGee He is a talented young man but he certainly makes a lot of bonehead plays. He can rebound, block some shots and jump out of the gym. If he continues to play hard and improves his offensive moves and free throw shooting he could be a major asset.
    5. Omer Asik he has no offensive skills outside of dunking but his 20.1 rebound rate is incredible and his post defense was among the leagues best. If he can continue to rebound and block shots at an elite level and develop even the most basic offense skills he will be a viable NBA starter. If not at least you will get effort, defense, rebounding and shot blocking.

Will continue the list tomorrow but right now who would you like to see the Blazers sign this off-season.

I think Lopez would fit in with Portland the best. I know his defense needs work but having an offensive threat like him would also benefit LA, the extra defender would be forced to defend Lopez instead of double teaming LA.
As far as his rebounding goes, last year he only played 5 games and averaged 3.6, for career he's at 7.5 which yeah, would like to see that at 9 or 10.

With Howard pretty much out of the picture for NJ, and since Lopez is a restricted free agent it may cost Portland a good chunk to get him here though.

I think it depends on the price. If Mcgee and Asik go for the same money, I think Mcgee is who you want. If we can get Asik for 3-5mil for 4 years take him. We also have Thabeet who we can get cheap 3mil a year/4years, I think he is worth the risk. I also think it depends on what happens in the draft, do we take Drummond/ Leonard or not.

Agree. I've been saying McGee since the season ended. He does what LA doesn't...young, athletic, and healthy knees

The only problem with option number 1 and 2 is they both will likely require a max contract or at least a deal similar to what we gave LA. I am not if either of them are really worth that kind of money.

Not a very good one he only plays hard on elite teams and Portland is not in that category.

    The Next Five
    6. Chris Kaman the problem with Kaman is he can never stay healthy, when he does stay on the court you can expect at least 15 points and 8 rebounds a game from him at the age of 30 he should have something left the question is can he stay on the court to provide it. Would be a good option if the team has a capable back up.
    7. Spencer Hawes He is a decent defender and has some nice offensive skills. Roy Hibbert or Brook Lopez he is not but he should also sign for much cheaper than either of those. 12 points 8 rebounds per game are a distinct possibility for him if he plays 30 mins a game.
    8. Marcus Camby he is not the elite defender he once was but he is still capable and posted the highest rebounds per 48 mins of anyone in the NBA. He should not be counted on to start but his rebounding, and shot blocking can help a team for a very affordable price.
    9. Ian Mahinmi he is a solid defender and a decent offensive threat averaging nearly 6 points and 5 rebounds per game in only 18.7 mins per game. He needs to cut down on his fouls to stay on the court but he is still young and can provide some good minutes off the bench.
    10. Tim Duncan he remains too good to be left off of this list. I have him ranked #10 because there is virtually no chance that he plays for anyone other than the Spurs. Not to mention I would rather have a less than 1% chance of getting Duncan than signing someone like Robin Lopez, Aaron Gray, or Mehmet Okur.

Rumors say Asik could demand an 8 million a year contract, and Portland wants to make him an offer knowing this? Please tell me these idiot beat reporters are confused, as usual.

Centers are worth as much as someone will pay... always overpaid

Asik's deal pretty much says it all.... that is why I was stoked to get Leonard at 11

I think Leonard will surprise some people.I especially liked what he said about himself being a morph of Joakim and Tyson Chandler. In regards to the Lopez cat,id only take him if we can have both of them. JaVale, if its reasonable, grab him. Im not all the sparked about Asik.

Mahinmi is going to Indiana and Kaman to Dallas best options remaining are amnestied Haywood or McGee who is close to signing with Denver
