Do we have enough pieces on our roster to get another lottery pick? I am not really sure, but I think we can make some moves. Portland needs to get MKG, simple as that. His effort, defense, and aggressiveness are components that every championship caliber team needs.  The idea that every SF in the league needs to be a three point threat is laughable, MKG certainly needs to improve his jumper to keep teams honest but I think he has the potential to be an efficient scorer on the next level and a game changer on defense. The comparisons to Gerald Wallace are legit but he has a better upside.

Portland needs to deal Nolan Smith, Luke Babbitt, Jamal Crawford, Shawne Williams, Kurt Thomas and maybe Wesley Matthews. Jamal Crawford will opt out if we do not trade him so getting something out of him is essential. Kurt Thomas is an aging vet that can help a playoff team but he is not a long term fix so we should try and get some value out of him. Wesley Matthews is the player on this I least want to trade but he also will have the most value so for the right deal he is expendable. Nolan Smith will be a career back up imo so getting rid of him is not a big issue. Luke Babbitt can shoot so he should have some trade value I do not see his ceiling going much higher than Kyle Korver so he is expendable. Finally, Shawne is just 3 million dollar bad contract if no one will take him then Portland should use the stretch provision on him.

What can we get for these guys? Is there anyone on that list that should not be traded let me and the rest of Blazer Nation know.

I like the thought of MKG. If this is a possiblity then what about Batum in a sign and trade. Or do we resign Nic and move him to SG and trade Matthews? He played well there earlier this year, and since he won't rebound maybe the SG is the place to have him. Don't know how he would feel about going to Charlotte though. It wouldn't hurt my feelings to see Babbitt go.

I think trading up to draft MKG, will likely cost us Wesley but that would open Batum to move to SG should we want to keep him. If Batum could match MKG's intensity then we would have some dynamic perimeter defense.

i think an MKG type player we do definitely need. i just think we need beal more though (or waiters). we need our 2nd scoring option. and we have a legitimate opportunity in this draft to obtain that type of player. we simply cannot contend without another elite scoring capable star player to keep the defense honest. to me, it comes down to this. the blazers are able to obtain a role player like MKG or wallace through FA.  however, we are not a prime destination for the elite players that have all the teams drooling.  therefore, we need to obtain that type of player through the draft just like we did with drexler and roy.  to me MKG is going to be an opportunistic scorer, 15ppg, 8-10 rebounds, and a defensive stopper.  not a guy the NYs and Miamis are going after to be their go to guy.
    love MKG though.

MKG is a team guy we have one superstar in LA, add in 15 points from Batum, and MKG and your already at 50 points per game. If Portland got Lillard or signs Dragic that adds another 15 points. Add in the bench with Hickson, Williams and Babbit plus whatever we get from the Center position and we are easily a 100 point a night offense which will be very hard to beat if we can play any consistent defense.

I agree with jwood. I would much rather have Beal or Barnes for many reasons. Primarily, Batum played terrible alongside/during the time Gerald Wallace was here. Having MKG will be the same situation. Batum will feel a little threatened that somebody his size, with such a different playing style, is competing with him regardless of the position. Batum and MKG would not work.

I said it before and I'll say it again, Beal could be our second chance of an all-star SG (Brandon Roy being the first). He could develop into that guy who will take the final shot because we all know LA won't and will always be a #2 guy. Same with Barnes, He has the IQ and shooting to really lead this team in two years and be the #1 guy. So yes, I say trade anybody besides Aldridge in order to get Beal or Barnes. MKG just wouldnt fit the team dynamic offensively unless we got rid of Batum in the process.

Getting MKG certainly would allow us the option to pass on Batum.

I would agree LMA is a decent defender but his help defense and team defense needs a lot of work. It is in these areas that Bosh really separates himself from LMA and it is because of that he is a better player than LMA despite not putting the sam...

I was looking at some shooting stats and came across a very very alarming stat. LMA was the league leader in FGA from 16-23 feet. Not only was he the leader he was lead by a mile. His 7.3 attempts from this distance easily outpaced Demar Derozan w...

Sug I would start with him outscoring Wesley Matthews. He also needs to get his FTA up and his FG% up and cut down the turnovers.

His defense was decent last year but not that good as he is either too weak or just unwil...
