I have discovered the perfect trade that will help in the efforts for an NBA championship next year. Trade Steve Blake and Travis Outlaw to Phoenix for Steve Nash. Since Phoenix is basically in rebuilding mode right now and both teams salary caps can accomadate this trade, IT IS PERFECT! I worked out this trade scenario on NBA Trade Machine on ESPN.com and it increases the Blazers projected wins this year by 4! This trade would provide a great PG upgrade over Blake, and Nash can be a great mentor for Jerryd Bayless! What do you think Blazer Nation? Is this a good idea? DISCUSS!!! Idk, I would like to see Bayless and Batum get more minutes but I'm not sure about signing an old player. I'd like to see the franchise make small moves rather than rearranging our whole team. We did amazing last year. We fell short in the playoffs but I think we can learn from it and get better. I honestly don't think we need to change the whole chemistry of our team. That's just what I think.

if they were willing to accept, i would love it... Steve Nash is an extremely good point guard. Everyone forgets he was MVP just a couple of years ago.  Doubt the Suns would accept it though.

I 2nd that! Being such a young team I believe they will do better next year and they will get the bugs out. Nate will bring them together and make it to the next level for sure.

Not gonna work. Phoenix wants Jerryd Bayless and Rudy Fernandez for Steve Nash. So KP's like, "Yeah right! I'm not giving you a big chunk of the Blazers future."

I have to agree with Tobyus on this one. There is no way Phoenix would take that deal. For Nash, they will want Rudy and I for one am not willing to do that. Although I like Nash in a Blazer uniform, he is on the tail end of his career and Rudy is just getting started. Not going to happen.

As long as we hold on to Bayless I wouldn't mind giving up Rudy. He has shows in the Hedo situation that he's a possible cancer whenever something doesn't go his way. It's better to get rid of him while his value is so high. He'll be a good player for sure but unless he corrects his way, he has too much ego to stay in Rip City.

I think this would be a great trade.  Because with Martell Webster coming back it is going to be very difficult to have Outlaw and him play significant minutes.  I think Nate will ease Martell in there, but that might mess with Outlaw's attitude a bit because he'll always be looking over his shoulder.  If Outlaw doesn't get traded this summer, my bet is that he will be traded in February or before the trade deadline.  I think Nash would complimant Brandon like no other.  They are both VERY smart NBA players and to have both of their IQs on the team would make us an instant contender for the title.  And you might be saying, "whoa, a contender for a championship?  Now?"  Yes.  That's what I said.  We don't need many more additions to our team, especially if we end up getting Milsap.  Then we will just have to worry about a PG and Steve Nash is the answer.  And I think when it comes down to it, Phoenix would do it.  Hell, we could even throw a first round draft pick for next year in the deal.  Or an overseas player.  Whatever it takes to get Nash.

I am feelin' this trade, but have to give some other options. I already posted about us getting Nate Robinson and Chris Wilcox from NY so to recap here is what we do: Trade Travis to NY for Nate Robinson. Pick up Chris Wilcox off free agency for cheap to back up L.A. Here is the starting 5 and second unit: (1) Steve Blake, (2) B Roy, (3) Martell/Batum), (4) L.A., (5) Joel (he deserves it). Second unit that would smash! (1) Nate Robinson/Jerryd (2) Rudy/Jerryd, (3) Batum/Webster, (4) Chris Wilcox, (5) Greg Oden. Now what do you think about that? We save the money that we need to keep Brandon here for the next 5+ years and we get a change of pace point guard that can score, draw double teams, and drop the rock off to Oden for a two handed jam. We also get Wilcox who played with Blake at Maryland in 01/02 when they won the collegiate championship with former blazer Juan Dixon. Let me know what you think about that! All of my co workers want David Lee or Devin Harris. Nash would be a good mentor, but I while I believe Jerryd is the PG of our future, like Oden he is a few years away. 6 TO in a preseason game. Bayless needs time.
I am a fan of us getting a free agent deal from NY. Nate "the Great" Robinson and Chris Wilcox! Hello PG and back up PF/defensive presence/rebounder/shot blocker.

Streetball, here's the problem with Nate Robinson: he is no good. He's a below-average PG at best. Look at his stats BEFORE Mike D'Antoni: 26.2 MIN, .443 FGP, .332 3PT, 12.7 PTS, 2.9 AST, 3.1 RBD, 1.4 TO. So basically, you have an undersized PG who can't really shoot and doesn't pass. Great. He had better scoring numbers under the breakneck speed of the SSOL offense, but the Blazers played at the 3rd slowest pace last year. Oh, and lest I forget, he would be taking serious minutes away from Jerryd Bayless and hindering his development. And you should actually looking into the numbers before you trash Jerryd Bayless and his 6 TO's. Here's what happened behind the numbers: It was the FIRST Summer League game. His first game in roughly 3 months, and also the first game at the "pro" level where he has been asked to run the offense for the entire game and have the ball in his hands where his goal was to make his teammates better rather than just getting his own. Second, the summer league team had a total of FIVE practices together, so this is a brand-new team for everyone. Third, there are only three players on that team worth anything: Bayless, Cunningham, and Pendergraph. So his options are severely limited in who he has to pass to. So he was swarmed the whole game. He won't be when he's playing with the likes of Rudy, Webster, Aldridge, Roy, Oden, and Przybilla. Fourth, before you just pan his performance, check out his other numbers. He had 7 AST despite not having anyone else to play with. That's in addition to his getting 8 FT shots, showing that he has started to command the offense, while being able to get to the rim, break down defenses (which means he can read them better), and dish it out to his teammates. He's going to contribute a lot more than you think right away. We dont need another backup PG, he just needs to develop during the regular season before the playoffs hit. As for Nash, there is no way Phoenix makes that trade, and I'm not sure we want to either. He has well-documented back problems, and is HUGE defensive liability. He can't guard anybody. So not only are we trading Blake, a really good PG and a guy whose healthy as a mule, but we'd be getting a guy who really excels at faster paces (not our style), but could seriously break down at any minute. I'd feel better keeping Blake.

I actually do like Nate Robinson, I think he would play well alongside Roy, Lamarcas, and Oden. I think he has had kind've a bum rap because he has been on a crummy team. Now with that said, I like what Bayless did the other night in that first game. A lot of those turn overs were simply the ball going through a player's hands. The guys just had butter fingers and that isn't Jared's fault. He aslo had opportunities for a lot more assists but the guys weren't converting their open shots. In either Blazer lineup he would have had in excess of ten assists. So the question it, would I trade for Nate Robinson? No, but if New York won't match the Blazer's offer, should they make one, I wouldn't mind picking him up. I like Bayless though. I am starting to revert back to my initial feelings on this summer which are that nothing really NEEDS to happen with this team. If anything we can upgrade the back up PF spot, but I think we already did that with Cunningham and Pendergraph. So why are we all over KP about not getting anything done? Do we really need it, or are we just getting emotionally attached to these radical trade ideas and blockbuster free agents? Seriously people, we need to practice some real perspective here. I am as guilty of it as anyone, I get all excited about talking about the possibilities, however when they don't go through I'm not jumpong off the bandwagon. Let's be real people. Travis out of the PF spot is more effective, however he still doesn't rebound. We will see what happens coming out of training camp.

Um.... Are we forgetting about the fact that Outlaw has been a Blazer longer than anyone on the team. Bill Walton heard an announcer say "Outlaw reminds me of Tracy McGrady" Bill said "I think Outlaw will be a lot better than Tracy McGrady." Never trade Outlaw! Keep Blake. Don't do anything. This team AS IS, can win a Championship in 2010. Think about it... That sort of trade would be qualified as pulling a Bob Whitsitt.

is up down where you came from? is right, in all intents and purposes, left where you are?
Cause Outlaw is no T-Mac. his game may remind you of T-mac, in the same way that SPAM reminds people of real meat I guess. Oh, and blake has reached his prime. He can't take us any farther as a starting point guard imo

Yeah, I have to agree with David on this one. If Outlaw is T-Mac than I am Hugh Jackman. I would relate the Outlaw situation actually to Hedo Turkaglu. There was a Magic fan who logged in here saying that we lucked out by NOT getting Hedo. He went on to complain about how Hedo threw up crazy shots most of the time that clank it drive fans nuts, but once in a while he makes them in clutch situations and ESPN immortalizes him for it. I feel the same way about Outlaw. Now, would I be super upset if he is our back up PF come season's start? NO, I wouldn't, but I do feel that if that is the case than this is his last chance to prove he belongs on this team. He needs to man up, rebound, and attack the dang basket. If he gets another chance, he needs to take advantage of it and push an extension from the Blazers. Otherwise he needs to be traded while his stock elsewhere is still high.

HOLD UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who would be crazy enough to trade blake and outlaw?? blake gets assists! who doesn't want that? and even though people say travis is no help, he is!!! he can get a 3 every now and then. and even some dunks. if k.p., paul allen, or anyone gets rid of either of those guys, i'm not watching them anymore!! its not the blazers with out both of those guys. every one of those guys make a huge difference to the teams success.

I am a fan of how great these blazers did in the 2010 playoffs! i know we lost, but it was still fun to watch. we'll go farther next year!!

Keep blake as starter this year, trade bayless. Remember last year he was the Summer League MVP. Not like it mattered. Pull up Pooh Jeter. if we don't sign him, another team will, there has been a lot of talk about him on summer league. He is super quick, and has an athletic gene pool. His sister happens to be #1 in the world at like the 200m and she's the anchor on the relay for the US track team, so he has FAST in his family. Most importantly he's a true point guard. Bayless is not. Bayless is an undersized 2 guard that doesn't know how to pass effectively or find open men. Pooh Jeter will be a point guard in the NBA this season, last season he played in spain and was very good. He is up and coming. And if he isn't a blazer this season, he'll be somewhere else in the league. We need to get rid of bayless before the stock in his potential drops, because that's all he is, potential. I know people will say did you see the NJ game when he dropped 26 points, and bla bla bla. YA i did I watched it. But he didn't do anything else in the 87 other games (82 games per year + 6 playoff games - 1 good game against NJ). I read an article on NBA.com that said he was the biggest flop of all rookies last year. He needs to go while he's worth something, because he's not gonna be worth anything in a year. Oh and Blake isnt bad, 14 ast. in a quarter, isn't bad. He can shoot a decent 3. He just isn't as quick as all the new style pg's coming into the league, causing Aaron brooks to beat him every time up the court. Put on super duper lightning quick Pooh-bear-Jeter and he'd stay with Aaron brooks all game and we might not have lost game one in portland.

The team is fine as is right now. We have some decent big-man rookies (pendergraph and cunningham) who can back up at SF, PF, C and one of those two may turn into a good player. Does anyone remember Blake getting 14 assists in a quarter.... yea he sucks (sarcasm) . Nate Robinson=short, arrogant, ball-hoggish. NO TRADES, DEVELOP OUR YOUNG PLAYERS Go 'Zers

I couldnt have said it better myself!!! We have an extremely talented young team who shocked the NBA last year by having the second best record in the stacked Western Conference.  That team plus Martel Webster, will be a contender for top spot in the West.  Then you add Pendagraph and Cunningham battling each other for minutes.  That will push us over the top.   KP built this team through the draft, and now that they have developed a style together, I say wait and see what happens.
