Phil Jackson says he is willing to consider coming back to coaching but wants a team close to his Montana home. Are you listening Paul?

Would you sign Phil if he said he was interested in coaching the Blazers?

One of the best coaches in NBA history? Yes.  But he doesn't like Portland and I don't think he'd come here.

One of the best coaches in NBA history... Has probably had more star players under him than any other coach in NBA history... has had the largets salaries working under him in NBA history...

Personally I don't believe that the coach makes alllll the difference in the world (they help but they're not playing), and fans would have issues with him no matter how good his record is... I guess I'm glad he 'doesn't like Portland' :)

Careful, 247, you're falling into the ex-Laker hate trap.

Can I get a source on the "Jackson doesn't like Portland" claim, TJ?

It sounds like Vikings fans saying they'd never want Vince Lombardy coaching for them. Yes, he had Jordan and Kobe on his successful teams, but think about the huge risk Kobe was when he entered the league. I think, when you look at the young talent and team atmosphere here, Jackson would be an excellent fit. I also wonder if he would be attracted to a low-key team like the Blazers after being in the spotlight and under the microscope in the big franchises.

I honestly don't see him coming here, but if he were interested, I think it would be stupid not to entertain the possibility.

if there's a chance to get phil jackson you gotta go for it, find out if he's interested which he might not be but anything's possible. that would be amazing. jerry sloan would be a strong second choice.

Those are both amazing coaches but Im not sure we have a shot at either. If we could get SVG that would be perfect, he a great coach. Flip Saunders is also a really good coach.

flip saunders is known for getting the best out of his players, what ever happened to him? and im not sure about svg, orlando lived and died by the 3 point shot and that was ok with d12 in the middle. not sure that style would suit the blazers.

With open coaching positions being refused by Jackson, and hints like being closer to his Montana home, it looks more and more like Portland is the team he has been referring to.

Seattle won't have a team for a while, I don't see Minnesota firing Adelman but for Jackson maybe, LA is almost as far away from Montana than are most other NBA cities. Utah maybe?

Would he want to come to Portland? other than comments made after losses in Portland with a few heckling fans, I don't see why not. Blazers would be an attractive place to coach with all the cap space, draft picks, owner money, and the best fan base. It would just take someone that doesn't care about the big city, large market exposure, Phil Jackson I think is one of the few.

But then there's the question would Paul Allen hire him? I doubt it.

David Lee got picked for everything this season. They almost put him on the All-Defensive team too, but them somebody actually looked at stats and said, "Oh wait... Lee only averages 0.3 blocks per game."

Yeah, he was tripping with that Scottie Pippen reference. Nowhere as good as him, BUUUTTT, I think he can be, if he plays like a man. In Euroleague, you are taught more about finesse, and the fundamentals. He needs to put a little more muscle on, ...
