Chris Haynes, CSNNW.com Trail Blazers Insider (@ChrisBHaynes)

Neil Olshey agreed to terms to remain the Los Angeles Clippers' general manager on Friday, leaving the Portland Trail Blazers with three finalist for their opening – Indiana's general manager David Morway, Philadelphia’s assistant general manager Tony DiLeo, and former New Orleans' general manger Jeff Bower.

A person close to the situation says Trail Blazers' owner, Paul Allen, is concerned with Morway's character and finds that he reminds him of a “Kevin Pritchard 2.0” and DiLeo's lack of experience being in charge “is worrisome.”

Morway is at the bottom of the list, according to multiple sources.

That leaves Bower – who happens to be the most experienced candidate out of the finalist and would appear to be the logical choice.

However, those that know Allen, have said he prefers that his general managers be/remain in good physical shape and Bower doesn't fit that criteria.

    Here's where things get interesting.

Multiple league sources have told CSNNW.com they don't think either of the three candidates will get the job and they say Trail Blazers' acting general manager, Chad Buchanan, “has become an option again.”

Trail Blazers' president, Larry Miller, told CSNNW.com, Buchanan wouldn't necessarily have to interview for the general manager position if they decided to hand the job to him because they feel they have a grasp of what Buchanan is capable of.

The Trail Blazers' draft picks: I'm hearing the Trail Blazers are leaning towards keeping their No. 6 and No. 11 picks in the 2012 NBA draft.

The Trail Blazers' next head coach: Trail Blazers interim head coach, Kaleb Canales, has come on strong as the favorite to secure their head coaching vacancy, according to a source.

The thinking is, if the Trail Blazers aren't going to be competing for a championship anytime soon and if they're going to hold on to their two lottery picks, Canales, 34, is being viewed as “the perfect guy” to take over the young Trail Blazer roster.

Indiana Pacers' assistant coach, Brian Shaw, has interest in the Trail Blazers head coaching vacancy, according to a source with knowledge of his thinking and Golden State Warriors' assistant coach, Mike Malone, has interest as well.

CSNNW.com is being told the Trail Blazers will still conduct a head coaching search.

    What does this all mean?

It means there's a chance that there isn't much change in the Trail Blazers' front office or on the sideline.

The Trail Blazers struck out on some of their key general manager targets for various reasons and they haven't been blown away with who they've interviewed. They could still end up selecting out of the three finalist just to bring some closure, but the word is “they're perplexed during this decision-making process.”

sign Iggy for 8-9M, Batum at the two, and Wesley off the bench! Draft Steven Adams (who loves contact, grew up playing rug-bee). Sounds NICE!

Im not impressed with Gortat. Everyone wants him but he seems mediorcre to me. He is the most realistic option since all it would take is the 10th pick, but I think he is old and declining.
