Trade Batum, Second Round Pick 2012 and First Round 2013.

Just watched him play. Blazers would be stupid not to get him

They will want more than that. I say trade Batum, #11, 2nd Round Pick. I know its losing a lot but when Rajon Rondo looks better than Chris Paul (as he has this postseason), the asking price will be high. I would take Rondo over any other PG at this point.

rondo future draft considerations from nj to portland
give nj pick back and nxt yr pick and all boston picks (consider 2nd round picks from us)

Good Point. However keep the deal as is and throw in Elliot Wiliams. We have strong SG in Babbitt and Matthews and we could pick up one in the draft.

I think Matthews plays with more agression than Batum and that is what we need. Batum and Matthews stats are virtually the same.

Batum has a lot more upside and from an outside perspective is much more valuable. SFs who are 22, 4 year starters, and great defenders dont come around often.

I love the idea of having Rondo in the blazers uniform..he's one of my favorite players, and is just what we need. But i think there is a lot to assess before we go making rash decisions like getting rid of Batum. Yes, he has a lot to learn, but remember he is only 23 and is yet to make his prime. Think of all the glimpses of a superstar he has shown us thus far..chasing opponents down court for the rejection into the back board, big time dunks over quality defenders and much more. If we keep hold of Batum, think of the things he could do when he does reach his prime. We need to keep hold of him.

After tonight I don't think Boston would trade him for Batum, Matthews, and LA. But I do think we should make inquires after the draft, If we get Beal with pick #6 then in free agency we sign Hickson, Batum, and Illasova, we could offer Batum, Matthews, Smith, and 2013 1st round swap option for Rondo and Johnson. This is a lot to give but in return we would get probably the best pg in the league at the moment. In the end I think short of getting D. Howard in return, which is possible in a three team deal, Boston will try to build around Rondo..... I would.

Most logical trade would be Matthews, and pick #6 and #11 for Rondo with that trade Portland could open up playing time for Elliot Williams or move Batum to his preferred SG position. In addition it would open up extra cap space for the Blazers.

With Rondo in town and Batum getting resigned the Blazers would have 3 solid players to build around. 4 if Elliot Williams meets the high expectations around him.

From there Portland would be wise to open up as much money as they possibly could.

I would trade Nolan Smith, Shawne Williams and Kurt Thomas for sure. Normally I would include Babbitt on this list but with his shooting touch I would like to see what he could do with a real PG.

From this point you have:
Rondo 11
Williams 1.5
Aldridge 14
Batum 9
Babbitt 1.9

That would leave around 21 million to spend on free agents or draft picks depending on what we get for Thomas, Williams and Smith. I would hope to see a low first and a second or multiple second round picks for them.

Assuming we have 4 draft picks then we could take Jae Crowder to replace Matthews, Scott Machado to replace Nolan and to back up Rondo, Jeffery Taylor one of the best defensive prospects in the draft and showed good range 42% from 3, then either Herb Pope or Kevin Jones depending on availability would add front court depth and excellent rebounding. With all of these players coming in the second round Portland would still have 17 million to spend on Free Agents.

Free Agent Needs
PG with Rondo as the established starter and Machado as the back up the team has very little need for a PG.
SG If Batum becomes the starter and Williams backs him up Portland would have little need for another SG.
SF This position could be one of the biggest need areas if Batum switches to SG leaving only Babbitt, Crowder and Taylor. If Batum stays at the 3 this would be a position of strength.
PF Lamarcus is an all-star but behind him would only be unproven Pope or Jones backing him up.
C Nothing absolute need.

With 17 million to spend Portland could make a big time offer for Roy Hibbert, Brook Lopez, or JaVale McGee. They could also make a large offer for Eric Gordon.

After failing to sign Hibbert away from Indiana, Portland shocks the NBA and adds Ersan Ilyasova, Danny Green, Grant Hill, Kirk Hinrich and Kevin Garnett. They also agree to terms with Joel Freeland.

That team would be good defensively, have plenty of shooters for Rondo, rebound, and has a good mixture of young and veteran talent. If Crowder, Williams, or Taylor become solid contributors this team could easily contend before the time runs out on Garnett, Hill and Hinrich.

Rondo is the Celtics. Sure they got a couple tall, old bald guys. But when they win big, it's a Rondo show.

He's untouchable, no way Ainge let's him go.

tobyus is right. there's no way in hell celtics would deal rondo. besides, none of these trades would favor boston. i like trade scenarios but can we be realistic please?

I dont know ripcity we are pretty far,far away, we got 4 starters(now) and no bench,and yeah are starters are good,but a few years of losing and lillard and Aldridge will want out and we got NO bench,i''ve tought long and hard about all the teams i''...

I think what Stotts is doing is superb. His plays are great. I remember the only play he ever called for Meyers Leonard, against the Bobcats. Great movement, got LMA a good mid range look, got Batum a decent three look and the got Meyers way down ...
