Blazer Free Agents On Their Future And Possible Last Game As A Member Of The Team
    - via Chris Haynes | CSNNW

    Nicolas Batum
Did you think about this being your last practice as a Blazer?

“Yeah, my last game, my last practice. I don't know what's going to happen July 1. I maybe back I may not. I don't know yet. Free agency is crazy. If they match (another teams offer), I'm going to stay here next year...I don't know yet, we'll see.”
    Joel Przybilla
What's the situation with your left foot and your playing status past this season?

“I might have to have a minor surgery when the season is over. I'll be out a couple of weeks, nothing serious. But I definitely want to probably play next year...I definitely want to play. I really enjoyed it this year and I think next year if I did decide to come back, I'll be more prepared because this season had so many games crammed together.”

Get him for the players minimun plus performance bonsues.  He is tough in the paint which is what we need and we can get 15 minutes out of him consistently a night.

Joel is a liability I am not sure he can get back to being the great rebounder and defender he was. If he is not that player than what value does he have left.

Joel definitely still has value. He's still a tough presence in the paint, he's motivated and is a great veteran voice for us to have on the bench, he sticks up for his teammates, and fans love him. He provides excitement off the bench and he can get our players good looks at the bucket. He's definitely worth the minimum salary.

If we do keep Batum I'd start him at SG, trade away Wesley to clear cap space, and draft a SF and SG (Barnes, Jones, Beal, Lamb, Rivers). Then we have the cap space to resign Hickson, Flynn, Rhino, Przybilla, Babbit, E. Williams, Nolan. Look to free agency for a PG and C.

If we keep Wesley and decide not to pick up Batum we have an immense amount of cap space. We still draft a SF and SG. Which sures things up a SG. We resign Hickson, Przybilla, Flynn and Craig. Keep Babbitt, Nolan, and Elliot. We would still have 25 million dollars in cap space for PG and C. Which we don't even necessarily need to spend this year. Brandon Jennings, Steph Curry and other players will be available to get next summer.

Let's face it.. We're rebuilding again and I think we need to eliminate Wesley or Batum to free up the space to grab as much young talent as we can and grab All-Star caliber players when they come available. What we don't need right now is to get scared and overpay on average and unproven players.

Batum is pretty sure he'll be back next season. if you saw the exit interview, he said that 99% he'll be back.

I think Wesley is more consistent than Batum.  Do a sign and trade with San Antonio or some other team that wants him.  That way we get someting in return.

seriously? I thought this team has the best fans in the NBA. but actually it doesn't. did you know that while all the players were trying to shut down McMillan and Aldridge, both of them are the one who still faithful. Both Matthews and Batum are still faithful with the Blazers. they never asked to be traded. they never stop listening to Aldridge. they never complained about Nate. and you guys want them to leave? well, I guess both Matthews and Batum deserve a better team. a team that RESPECT THEIR FAITHFULNESS TO THE TEAM. Indeed, the Blazers had the best fans in the NBA, but I don't think I would love to be a Blazer fan if this is the case.

big deal if they didn't talk about mcmillian in the media, the quitting attitude is the problem and it was team wide. matthes found his shot with like 6games to go in the season, i hope we dont have to wait 60games next season for him to find it again. batum is just eh, he shows moment of brilliance but always disappears. i just want a team that's going to compete on both ends of the floor for 48minutes. joel gets less minutes but you know he's putting in max effort.

I am fine bringing Joel back as an enforcer and a short minutes defensive player but anything more than 3 minutes at a time on the court and he becomes a major liability.

Batum can go for all I care Portland seems content to just add small pieces because they are so sure Batum is their future All Star and a solid #2 option. He might eventually become that but he lacks consistent effort, has numerous mental lapses on defense that lead to easy baskets and is a complete non factor in the 4th quarter. Not someone who is going to get you very far as your teams number 2.

Lol, no. Dwight Howard would be the absolute worst thing to ever happen to Portland, and no doubt my fellow message boarders will let you know why.
