With Turkoglu already signed, I don't see why we should'nt try to get Shawn Marion. He would make a perfect shooting duo with Brandon Roy. i don't think Outlaw would make the best starting SF. We just need to give him a good offer before Dallas or Cleveland gets him.

I dont understand where ppl are getting that we need a SF above all else.. if anything its the last thing we really NEED. we have 3 right now. count them 3. I realize there are questions about martells foot and everyone seems to hate outlaw but.. i personally think martell will be fine and if he for some reason isnt 100% then it would be Batum/Outlaw and if he is then Batum/Martell. Martell might even start i dont honestly know, i say Batum for now though.

So why spend all our cap space on yet another SF when we have 3 perfectly good ones now? 2 of whom havent even hit they're peak, Batum not even being close. Where as Marion is on the decline from here on out and dont get me wrong hes not a bad player by any means.. its just it seems like a waste to me. I think we will make a trade or sign someone i just dont think it will be Marion or David Lee for that matter.. which personally makes even less sense yet i hear ppl going on about getting him too and having LA play the 3? seriously.. /shrug

Really i think Batum is the future SF for us he did great for us this yr and i think he will get better and better in years 2 come... Also i think we should get rid of outlaw because he is just like Jarret Jack inconsistent and he is only good when he chooses 2 be.

I agree with bits of what each of you are saying, but I want to throw a couple things at you. First off, they went after Hedo because he made the possibility of a lineup that created difficult match-ups on offense. Marion, at this stage in his career doesn't really do that anymore. If that was the case Toronto would have gotten drastically better at the end of the year. That obviously wasn't the case.

I next want to address Martel. I am 99% percent sure that he is coming back this year and WILL be an absolutely STANDOUT SF this season. Here is why. Martel has decided to change his jersey number to the number 23. So what? Every basketball player, amature or pro, knows the expectations of wearing that number. Martel is no moron, this is a calculated move by Martel to let the Blazers know he is coming back AND he is going to make a statement this season. Everything that I hear about Martel's ability points to him coming back. The only question is his foot, I think this should tell us all that the doctors are telling him to go for it this year. Again, I have seen interviews with the guy, I've heard takes from media members who've been at the practice facility, and I remember what he showed before his injury. I with this number change, the Blazers and Martel are telling us that he is going to be our starting SF come opening night. Both parties have to agree to the move in order for the jersey to change. This is their way of telling while still leaving the anticipation of not saying anything.

So the idea of Marion should hopefully be officially smashed, as should the Caron Butler theory that the Godfather dropped on BFT, and the idea of acquiring Gerald Wallace. All these inquiries about other players are being thrown out, in my opinion, for two reasons. 1) a smoke screen to the league about Martel, and 2) knowing all the pieces and prices you have to deal with to make a trade, probably a multi-team trade in the next couple weeks. They also now know how much money they have to deal with for cap space, 7.7 million. Something is going down and it will happen very soon.

What we primarily need is a PF. It's nice to get a guy who can play both Forward positions but not necessarily a must. I think the goal was to move either Martell or Outlaw to backup PF if we got Hedo.

Marion is a player who can play both positions but he hasn't been as good as expected ever since joining Miami. It might be due to lack of competitive goals by the team but still there's a reasonable doubt and his age might be a scary situation. He's getting old and hasn't played well lately, not easy to justify such a signing. But if the price is right I would like us to give him a shot. May be the hunt for success can get him motivated. If not there's a good chance that he'll just be signing a deal to get some money before retirement.

Okay I really dont see a reason 2 waist money on someone who is over the hill NBA wise and will retire in the next couple years because no wants to waist roster space on him

2 u cant move Martell to PF because he is way undersized so he will get handled by bigger players such as KG, Amare, AL Jefferson it wont work. You could maybe put travis there because he has incredible hops but really we just need a veteran PF and a Vet PG

SF isn't a need to address this off season, but upgrading PG and a backup PF are. Outlaw has his role coming off the bench and that is working fine. I like Batum as SF of the future. Marion would not work here. He would be unhappy not being the focus of the offense and would probably become a malcontent.

Has Al Harrington become a free agent this season? He had a pretty decent season with the Knicks last season. He was a bit of an a$$ with his trade to New York in claiming back injury and then passing his medical straight away but I think he's really a pretty decent Forward.

No he is not but like everyone else says including me
we dont need a PF and al harrington is a starter so there will be alot of frustration between
the blazers and Al Harrington from the start if he is not a starter.
Plus Lamarcus will b mad 2 if he cant start
so it all would b is frustration and problems

I wouldn't really take him anyway. He isn't versatile enough. He is one of the most overrated players in the league. He is a thicker, angrier version of Outlaw. He loves to shoot threes and really is not an inside presence. He isn't known for his defense, just his threes and his attitude. If we are going to go after a back up PF we need someone known for defense and rebounding. There is enough scoring power in that second unit as is, we need at the very least rebounding, and hopefully add defense at the same time.

I heard back when Marion left the Suns that a lot of his teammates weren't too hot about him... If that was true then I say no.  We got great chemistry and don't need anyone to mess it up.

Okay, can we put the Marion talks to rest? We have moved on, most of us don't think they will continue to look for a SF let alone go after an aging Marion who hasn't brought any of his last few teams success. Last we talked about was Harrington and most of us  don't want to see that happen either. There are better options out there. Standing pat would be just as helpful to the Blazers as getting any of those yayhoos. Please, if you are going to post make sure you are caught up on the conversation.
