With 6 games left, how many times will Batum lead the team in scoring as the #1 option?

Trail Blazers (28-31) vs. Mavericks (32-26)

The Mavericks are in Oakland tonight facing the Warriors on national television, which means the game won't start until 7:50 pm at the earliest, before heading up north to take on the Trail Blazers for the third and final time this season. This is the only chance to see the Mavericks in Portland this season and the first time they've been in the Rose Garden since they broke our hearts in Game 6.

By now you know that LaMarcus Aldridge is out for the season as his hip requires surgery and that the Mavericks will be without Lamar Odom who they parted ways with earlier in the month. Odom has been a huge disappointment for the Mavs, averaging just 6.6 points and 4.2 rebounds since being traded from L.A. to Dallas this fall. So, not a big loss for Dallas. Portland, on the other hand, will miss their All-Star, who had just hit the game-winning buzzer beater in his hometown of Dallas last Friday. LA had finally seemed to be getting into his rhythm after a post-All-Star Game hangover, but none the less the game goes on. In their two most recent games without Aldridge, J.J. Hickson has performed masterfully, averaging 26 points and 13 rebounds in games against the Clippers and Warriors. Portland is 1-1 during those two contests.

With the Trail Blazers trailing teams 6-8 in the Western Conference playoff race by 4.5 games with just 7 games left to play, they aren't mathematically eliminated from postseason play but most would agree the inevitable is soon to strike. While Dallas will definitely be motivated to not only avenge their loss to Portland, but to just make the playoffs, Portland will be playing for pride. Some players thrive on pride while others love to play spoiler, especially those Trail Blazers who were on the roster last year who can still taste the defeat left in their mouths at the hands of the eventual champion Mavericks. Regardless of motive, these Trail Blazers will grit and grind Friday night in the second to last home game of the season.

I don't mind Batum being sidelined most of the games as long as he plays tomorrow's game. The only game that I want to see the Blazers win is tomorrow against the Mavericks. I'm totally not a Mavericks' fans. They've been rude to us. time for revenge I guess. without LA, everyone especially Batum and Matthews need to step up.

Good to see Nico dominate. He looked confident out there in every move he made. The three was flowing and he was attacking the basket like we know he can. The questions remains, can he keep it up on a consistent basis? As for Hickson, the box score will read a double-double (13 & 10) but it took him 12 shots to get his 13 points and he was getting out-worked on the glass by fellow power forward, Brandan Wright. J.J.'s a great role player, but when the defense keys on you, just like Dallas did, he didn't have an answer. That is what separates him from a guy like LaMarcus. I still hope we keep J.J. around, but at a role player price tag is all.

Batum is doing fine. Mavs did good at swampin' JJ tonight. Gotta hit a few more weakside baskets when they mob on Hickson, that really flustered the Blazers offense in the early parts of tonight's game.

Dallas was on a back2back, and they ran outta steam in that 4th. Good job by Portland to step on the gas and make this a close game at the end.

I only wish one thing: the Blazers would re-sign Batum this off season. he is reliable.

Jeremy Lamb? I definitely think he was buried in OKC''s bench, so i don''t know how good he really is. I know he is amazing in 2K though.

Haha, I am a bit I guess, I love Meyers, but I ain''t blind. Henson is way better than Leonard, and will be better than Sanders, and Ibaka, and most PF/C in the league soon.

Thing is, Henson does not intimidate people. He''s probably the ni...

Sanders better shotblocker, better dunker and around the rim, Asik better defensively. I think Asik will have the better career.

Paul Allen might sell the Blazers but the Blazers will never leave Rip City.
