Hornets Have Big Plans For Gordon, But First They Must Re-Sign Him
Via Sam Amick - Sports Illustrated
"It's a unique situation, where you don't have an owner and you don't know what's going to happen player-wise," Gordon said. "You've got a lot of one-year guys on this team. So you never know what an ownership might do, but I'd say overall it's a pretty good situation, and, like I say, it's a contract year so you're always looking for the best situation for yourself."

The Hornets attempted to lock up Gordon once he arrived, reportedly offering a four-year extension in January and negotiating all the way up until the deadline. Looking back, Gordon said he's convinced the Hornets wanted to wait for the summer -- and the chance to see his true market and match any offer -- all along.

"That's why things didn't work out at that time, whether or not I wish they did," he said. "It was an offer that we both couldn't accept."

The offers are sure to be even more plentiful this summer. Sources close to the situation said Indiana, Phoenix, Portland and Dallas are among the teams with interest in Gordon.
"Yeah, I still think I get undervalued," Gordon said. "I've never gotten the credit as far as helping the team. Maybe I haven't made an All-Star team yet because of some injuries at certain times in the season, long injuries where I missed a lot of games. But at the end of the day, I made Team USA teams just like [other prominent players], and scoring and stat-wise it's just the same. I just haven't been on good teams at a young age."
A Gordon/Dragic backcourt would definitely be something to write home about! The ONLY concern I have about Gordon is his health. I don't mind that he is an undersized two-guard, because he is extremely athletic and has proven that he has no problems getting his shot off. I also think Gordon is more of a reality then Williams, even though he is a restricted free agent, because New Orleans doesn't have an owner and I'm not sure they'd be willing to match any MAX offers for him.

I would like to see Gordon signed as long as we can insure the contract no more knee issues.

Don't even offer a max contract to an knee injury guy. Go after Dragic at the point.

As much as I would love to have Eric on the team the last thing this team needs is a player with knee problems I with mbmurr1 on this one.

Agreed. Gordon has barely put together an NBA resume due to knee issues. Like I said in the draft thread, don't sign anyone with a past injury more extensive than a stubbed toe or a jammed finger. If any blazers have a knee blow out in the future, I'd at least like it to be a surprise.

Too injury prone to be worth much.  I hate to say things like that.  He's a great player but teams will always look at him with a cringe because of his past injuries.

Do not want guy that have Injury Issues.  Let the new owner of the Hornets Tom Benson deal with him.  This is a deed draft and a strong FA Market.

    I would like to see

    Goran Dragic

    Chauncey Billups

    Jason Terry

A guy with great ALL-STAR talent has one knee injury and all of a sudden fans don't even want to look at them.  Its basketball most NBA guys have had some sort of injury at some point in their career and most have had something to do with their knees.  This guy would be a great pickup

I'd be interested to see him in Portland. It's just that I'm a HUGE Wes fan and I want him to get all the minutes he can...

Plus, this guy's gonna be expensive!! For this to happen, Portland would need Jamal to opt out of his contract and will likely have to find a suitor for Matthews' 6M contract. Otherwise, it will just create a jam in the SG position and Elliot Williams will never see the light again.

Is Jamal opting out of his contract even a question these days? Maybe it's me being hopeful but after what he did in Phoenix, I figured it was a sure thing.

The rules limit the effectiveness of defenders these days Blaser. Lebron would win defensive player of the year every year if he could hand check people and hold on to his man like the old days.

Wow some serious high hopes for JJ there.

@Cailin Isn''t a little ironic that the Heat are on pace to win a second straight NBA title despite being the worst rebounding team statistically in the NBA this season.

I would trade the pick, the team is in rebuild mode and I am not sure Burke is the guy I really want on my team. Since my team needs a PG a PF and maybe a SG depending on how they feel about Afflalo still.

Considering that is the only aggressive thing he has ever done in his life, it is not likely he will do anything. Maybe if he did I might respect him more. But its alright enjoy your higher ticket prices to pay this joker 11 million a year.

Right now, the most realistic is Asik. If Houston pursue D12, sign and trade JJ and a couple second round picks, maybe Joel Freeland or somebody for Asik.
