LaMarcus Aldridge To Undergo Surgery On Right Hip, Will Miss Remainder Of Season
"In his most recent MRI, and following further evaluation, it's been determined that LaMarcus has a slight labral tear and will require arthroscopic surgery," said Acting General Manager Chad Buchanan. "LaMarcus' priority is that he's 100-percent healthy going into training camp this fall and we all feel this is the best course. He's had an All-Star year and his long-term health is the most important thing to consider."
During his interview from practice, LaMarcus said he will have the surgery in a week or two and he wasn't sure what caused the hip to require surgery. He hasn't ruled out playing for Team USA this summer but his primary goal is to get healthy for the upcoming 2013 season. The good news is the tear is very minor and he should have a full recovery.

Although you never, ever, want your All-Star big man to miss time with injury, there can always be something good to come from every situation. Coach Canales said J.J. Hickson will resume his starting lineup duties with LaMarcus out so now we get a longer look at what J.J. can do in a more featured role for the rest of the season. By the time the season has finished, J.J. will have had nine starts (assuming he stays healthy as well) under his belt as LA's replacement at the power forward. So far, in two outings, Hickson's averaging 26 and 13. If he can put up 20 & 10 over these next seven games, he will be a keeper at any cost this summer.

But it all comes back to Aldridge. I just hope this hip doesn't linger, because Lord knows we need our franchise player healthy for the long haul.

Our cracked-out witch doctors working on this team need to leave, like yesterday. Aldridge wasn't fine, he hasn't been fine, and whomever keeps telling Blazers that they are fine, and can play through these injuries, needs to have the bags packed and kicked out of this organization.

Good health to LaMarcus. We are gonna miss him the rest of the season for sure. Good luck to J.J. with the rest of the season. You've been a great addition and we have enjoyed watching you play.

Three straight double-doubles in LA's absence for Hickson. My only concern with him, long-term, is his ability to score consistently. He's a machine on the glass, seemingly never giving up on any loose ball, but outside of pick and rolls and put-backs, he struggles to find his own offense.

Right now, the most realistic is Asik. If Houston pursue D12, sign and trade JJ and a couple second round picks, maybe Joel Freeland or somebody for Asik.

Nah, Washington would just sign him themselves, save them a pick. Also, no way JJ is worth a lottery pick. Oladipo would be great, for pretty much any team in the NBA. I don''t think it''s possible to get him though. Should focus on getting a defe...

Jermaine O''Neal, Drazen, Z-Bo, Sheed (I know he was already a star but still). Also Drazen was buried under Drexler and Porter.

EZ, are you kidding me? You essentially want to trade LMA for Noel, or worse, DEANDRE JORDAN?

What happens if we don''t win? Dwight will start his nonsense, we would be out a lot of money, and with no real talent to show for it. San Antonio and Memphis is proof that you don''t need superstars to win.

Special K, aren''t you a cereal? And yes, Batum is expensive, but I think he''s worth it. Why would you take someone who isn''t is as good, just for less money. Then why don''t we take the worst possible player and pay him the least possible amoun...
