Lost in all the hoopla that was Trade Deadline 2012 was the fact that the Trail Blazers and Greg Oden officially parted ways, ending his five-year run in Rip City. While it didn't go as planned, I hold no ill will towards Greg. I mean, why would he purposefully get injured? So for those fans out there who are angry at Oden, please check your attitude at the door. It's also easier to deal with knowing he was a talent on the hardwood. I remember Coach McMllan talking to our staff at the office in the fall of 2009 and he said that Greg was the only player at the time keeping us above water and playing to his potential. And for that month and a half to start off the 2010 season, we saw a glimpse of what Greg was capable of. And it was amazing. The scary part was he only was scraping the surface. But it didn't work out and sometimes that is the way the cookie crumbles. And I thank G.O. for always fighting back after every setback. He could have mailed it in a long time ago but he always pushed himself to get healthy.

Here is what Greg said to the fans of Rip City on his Facebook Fan Page-
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who have supported me during my time in Portland. The physical setbacks I have faced during my career have been extremely challenging but I am grateful to everyone who have stood by me and remained positive. I would especially like to thank everyone in the Blazers organization, my teammates, the fans, my family and friends. As I move forward in a new direction, I am committed to pursuing my goals of getting back on the court and I will always hold a special place in my heart for the state and people of Oregon.
Although it didn't pan out, I wouldn't trade this memory for the world-

DHawes nice of you to put that clip up there from Greg. I am not going to blame anyone for not posting here. What happened to Greg was just out of everyone's hands. It would be nice to see him play a season or two.

Well... I kind of hope that, if he goes anywhere else, he ends up with Cleveland. It would be nice for him to be closer to home. Otherwise, I can't say I won't be a little bitter that it didn't pan out for him in Portland, but I certainly won't be bitter TOWARD Greg. Maybe just a little angry at fate (or the gods of basketball or whatever). And as long as he doesn't end up in OKC, I want to see Greg destroy KD and the Thunder just to prove that he earned the #1 draftee of 2007.

No way warriors trade david lee for an unproven player that might not even have been drafted top 5 last year

But I feel like worse teams than us would offer that so you never know he might want to come back where it all started... then again he could hate us with a passion and want to go absolutely anywhere else

Hey there''s no guarantee Noel will go 1st. If I''m the Cavs I would definitely consider trading down.

I don''t like Dwight, but he''s a top center in the league. I say top not thee top because I''d easily pick Marc Gasol, Joakim Noah, and maybe even Roy Hibbert over him.

I flat out called out LA''s poor passing in a thread a few months ago. His passing is so much better than when he was young but he needs to get better.
