So today we traded two guys we were going to let go after the season, picking up a 22-year old pg who had a great rookie seaon and is just getting healthy again that we can build around, a draft pick that should be around 7th in the draft, and a 7'3 C who went 2nd in the draft a couple years and hasn't had playing time to prove himself.  I don't understand why everybody is so frustrated with these trades.  If none of this works we can let them all go as they amount to $20M in expiring contracts.  If we let go of Crawford and Felton after the season, we would have:

    $30M in cap room

Two top 10 picks in a very deep draft

While having a core group of Aldridge, Batum, Flynn, and Matthews to build around

Its so obvious what the Blazers are setting up for.

I don't know that much on Flynn, what do his stats and records look like?
I'm still not sold that Felton and Crawford shouldn't be part of our future; neither one really even had a full chance to develop here. Felton is a VERY different style pg than Andre was, and while JCross has a crossover move like Roy, he's a very different style sg as well. Yet neither of these guys had a training camp, or even half of a season's worth of practices, to adapt to the team and have the team get comfortable with their style of play. So why are people so confident that their underperformance is due to them being not as good as we thought? Why can't it be about them needing more time to get settled with the Blazers?

If you're saying replacing Felton with Flynn, can you show me numbers that say Flynn would be better, or is that your opinion just based on disappointment in Felton this season?

I totally agree & love the moves made, We got draft picks, young players, & a bunch of cap space next season.

Realistically we prolly aren't going anywhere this year and maybe even next, but at least we once again have a bright future.

I think Johnny Flynn is better than people think & who knows maybe Thabeet proves something, all we really need him to do is block shots, it can't be that hard when you're the tallest player in the league.

The Camby trade was brilliant in my opinon, I see him retiring this year or next

Johnny Flynn has all the offensive talent in the world it's just his defense that is worrisome, h averaged 13 points and 4.5 assists in just his rookie season and last season he was injured so hopefully he can stay healthy

Yeah, Flynn should only improve from what his rookie year was and he's only 22 year old..  He's only played 11 games this year and isn't shooting great but he's almost 100%..  I dont know if he was hurt his 2nd year but he fell out of the starting lineup and only averaged like 5 a game.  But if he's still the player he was his rookie season then I think he can be an all-star or close to it later in his career and its something to build around.  If not then let him go as hes expiring.  These trades give us so many options and seems low risk-high reward as we werent going anywhere anyway

And we can keep Crawford and Felton but if they go we have $30M..  maybe $8M to spend on Batum $8M on picks but we still have $14M to get an all-star in free agency

As long as we have L.A. and Batum, i like the sound of about $22 mil to play with. Get me a real ball handler.

Paul Allen said how do we get better?  I see no activity in the draft with no draft picks.  The trade possibilities are limited because of the value of our bench players.  We have no cap space.  So I think the improvement of our b...

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...
