IF Portland makes a trade & loses a scorer/shooter in the process, can Babbitt fill that void?
    Yes: 12 points, 4-7 shooting, 2-3 from 3 in just 17 minutes (10)

No: Still passes up too many open looks (6)

4:30 PM | Madison Square Garden | New York, NY
Trail Blazers (20-22) At Knicks (18-24)

Two teams heading in the same direction. Since Carmelo Anthony returned to the lineup from injury, the Knicks are just 2-8 and losers of six straight. Before Melo's insertion back into the rotation, the Knicks were the talk of the sports world, led by zero-to-hero point guard, Jeremy Lin. Remember New York won seven in a row with Lin leading the show even without Anthony and Amare Stoudemire. But now Amare is back, Carmelo is back, and the team went out and added another dynamic personality in JR Smith. Smith, not shy from controversy and another player Lin needs to find a way to make happy. Portland, like New York, is spiraling in the wrong direction as well. One can pinpoint the free-falling descent to a certain goal-tending call against the Thunder. Since that call (which resulted in a loss to the rival Thunder), Portland is just 5-12 in their last 17 contests and have been unable to string together consecutive wins in the process.

Personally, this is the most intriguing matchup off the road trip. So far, the teams heading into their meeting with the Trail Blazers in a slump have broken out of it in a big way. Boston had just lost by 30+ in their last game against the 76ers prior to playing Portland only to come out and destroy the Trail Blazers 104-86 while the Pacers just dusted off a 92-75 victory over Portland after losing four straight. As mentioned, New York is riding a six-game losing streak, the fans are chanting "Fire D'Antoni" in the Garden, and the media is all over their back after falling out of the Top 8 seeds in the East. To me, whoever wants this game the most will win. Portland got the effort they needed in DC a few nights ago and came away victorious and they'll need that type of intensity to win in MSG. Speaking of Madison Square Garden, there may not be another arena in the world that can fire a sluggish team up and hopefully the feeling of playing on the biggest hoops stage can re-energize our Blazers.

Now, while effort is key, Portland still must execute their offense in the halfcourt. After an NBA-season low five assists against the Pacers, you know sharing the ball is going to play a factor. During their six-game slide Knick opponents have exceeded the century mark in five of those outings. And the Blazers aren't going to score 100 by playing one-on-one basketball. To get to that 100 point mark, Portland needs to live in the paint, shy away from the three unless open off of dribble penetration, and move without the ball. 45+ points in the paint. Attempt less than 10 three-pointers. Hand out over 25 team assists. Hit those goals and Portland should pick up their second road win of this trip and aid the Knicks in their free-fall out of playoff contention.

Blazers main goal should be, make Spike Lee bail out early, because his Knicks are stinkin' up the joint.

I am not a glass half full/half empty kind of guy I am if you got to ask I WILL need another beer. I have loved this team since their inception I ignored them during the gangsta years and came back when they cleaned it up. This team we are going up against is in the same position that we are with a ton more talent. If we could beat this team tomorrow night I think it would do alot for us for this season. I am not sure what game the Blazers thought they were playing tonight but it dam sure was not basketball. Tomorrow night if the Blazers decide that they are going to play the same game than I say give the dancers ashot at least they can shoot better than 30% against the Knicks.

WOW D'Antoni is gone... that's gotta be good for us tonight... GO BLAZERS!

If it's true that Nate's time could be getting short here, how well do you think Mike would do in Rip City?

I never thought I say this but, I would rather watch the JailBlazers play than what I'm seeing right now.

The 5th worse loss in Trail Blazers history. Again, just 11 assists, only 28 made field goals. Under 80 points for the second-straight game. Dire times right now in Rip City.

BUT, I do like what I see from Luke. He definitely had the jitters early on but in the second half he rebounded nicely and his most of his jumpers ,even scoring off of the dribble. In fact, in his last thee games, Luke has made five of his eight attempts from long-range. I know his defense can be suspect, but right now we need an outside threat and I think he gives that to us. We all saw what Novak did to us tonight, and the entire Knicks team went 19-28 from deep.

Crawford had "tendonitis"... I think that's code for "a call from his agent." There has to be a deal in the making.

    Post-Game Quotes
    Marcus Camby on the game-

“It was ugly.  We did not come out with the mind frame to compete at this level and it definitely showed.  We talked about it at our walkthrough about getting mentally prepared for this game and we came out and we were not hitting shots, but when you are not hitting shots, you can do other things to help your team out.”
    Camby on the team-
“It’s really hard to say.  I can’t keep getting flagrant fouls…giving up a lot of money.  No one else is going out there taking hard fouls and standing up for themselves.  The fight has to be within everybody and not just a few guys.”
    LaMarcus Aldridge on the Knicks-
“They had a lot of motivation to come out and play hard and get a win. You know when you fire your coach and I don’t know the situation, but when you go through something like that they might play more rejuvenated and show that that was a good move.”
Coach Nate McMillan on Jamal Crawford-

“He had tendinitis.  He’s had some tendinitis that he’s been experiencing for a few games and that flared up, so we decided to treat him and hold him out.”

Put the players in the game who care and want to win!  I don't care if the rookies on the team play before the 'stars' if they give a damn and show some pride then that's who should be playing.  Babbit is a prime example with 15 points and only 17 minutes playing time; his ratio of time to points is higher than any other Trailblazer tonight!

My support is solely based on effort, not success (see my fan statement).  I cannot, and will not support this team right now.  Getting paid for NOT going to work, MILLIONS no less...and in this down economy with so many unemployed, is literally reprehensible and ludicrous.

sign Iggy for 8-9M, Batum at the two, and Wesley off the bench! Draft Steven Adams (who loves contact, grew up playing rug-bee). Sounds NICE!

Im not impressed with Gortat. Everyone wants him but he seems mediorcre to me. He is the most realistic option since all it would take is the 10th pick, but I think he is old and declining.
