Hopefully nothing...  The team that took us to #2 in the West will be better just by Martel coming back.  He will have a fire in his game.  Remember the preseason when martel led the team against sacramento?  There was all this talk about him improving his game then he got hurt.  While he was hurt he still practiced shooting.  He said he has improved his range by taking set shots and shooting from a chair.  Plus the agressiveness he will have from missing so much time will make him a much better player.  I think we should stay where we are.  If something needs to change, well it is a long season and there will be plenty of time to make changes.

Man, I feel like a total hypocrite. If this deal is truly dead, and I am not sure it is until Wednesday, then I feel like we do need to improve that second unit PF. Would Portland be okay with TO there? Probably, but I just feel like it would be MORE beneficial to have a true PF there that can play. Am I completely sold that Martel will be healthy? Not after Portland's chase after Hedo. That tells me that something is happening there with him. I am interested to see what happens this offseason, how the guys improve their game and what this team looks like come training camp. I don't am very conflicted as to whether I want Portland to make a big move or not. I think any move acquiring a superstar commodoty like a Nash, Kidd, or otherwise, would help Portland for sure, but I also think our young boys will be coming back men this season. You will see a new level of maturity and hunger to win that they didn't have last year. Oden is going to be stronger and jumping higher, Bayless should be able to see the play better and shoot the long ball better, hopefully Martel is healthy, and Roy and Aldrige will know that it is their team to lead. I think Rudy will be more confident and ready for the long season. It will be a new set of guys even though it's the same players. It gives me chills just thinking of how good they have the potential to be next year.

I am a fan of #20 in the rafters, but #1 in our hearts and prayers...The Enforcer

I don't know. This seems all very hectic, exciting and ridiculous at the same time.

Part of me wants to believe that Portland dodged a bullet, another thinks that if Portland isn't able to pull off a sign and/or lopsided-trade this season with their available capspace, then this backflip by Hedo could come back to haunt us in a big way. Why do I say that? Because Roy and Aldridge will presumably sign their extensions sometime this off-season, and their contracts will come on the books next summer and push Portland over the cap.

It's all or nothing with this capscpace. Use it or lose it. Let's hope KP and his team are aggressive and at least make a lopsided trade that covers some deficiencies.

I also think Marvin Williams would be a good fit for this team, but he's a RFA and Portland would have to drastically overpay for him in order for Atlanta not to match. So let's hope for the best, and prepare for the worst: that this team you see today is it for the next season, and every player takes a step forward and becomes better.

Over/under on wins is still at 55 games in my opinion, with or without a sign and trade.

One player I do not want on this team, no matter the price, is Shawn Marion. Dear god, stay away.

We really didn't need Hedo in Portland to begin with. I like Blake a lot, he is more than playable but he is not going to teach bayless how to compete on the elite level.  what we really need is a higher value PG in my opinion. Is there anything stopping Portland from trying for Bibby? I've heard the Hinrich idea probably won't happen. Either or would be a good choice for Portland

This is actually a good thing for the Blazers. Hedo, while a good player with the "know how" Coach Nate is looking for, did not really address a "need" for us. Our two biggest needs are backup PF and PG, not SF. Hedo would have been an expensive addition to our team, and would have created a logjam at Sf, which is problematic as he can't really guard SF; it's just that his length helps disguise his significant defensive shortcomings. Now it's possible for us to possibly do a sign-and-trade with New York for David Lee, or with Philly for Andre Miller, or sign Ramon Sessions. This is NOT a bad thing. We are now in complete control of the FA market, and to a lesser extent the trade market. We now have a great deal of flexibility to sign other players. We can also do nothing and see where our team is at the trade deadline and have the power and cap space to address any needs or shortcomings then. Everybody needs to calm down.

sign Iggy for 8-9M, Batum at the two, and Wesley off the bench! Draft Steven Adams (who loves contact, grew up playing rug-bee). Sounds NICE!

Im not impressed with Gortat. Everyone wants him but he seems mediorcre to me. He is the most realistic option since all it would take is the 10th pick, but I think he is old and declining.
