With the addition of Hedo, the Blazers now officially have a "Big 3." I do believe this could be the best big 3 in the NBA. Hedo, Roy, and LA, they all compliment each other. They each can pass, board, shoot, and attack. This will be a nightmare for defenses. Hedo may be maxed out, but Roy and Aldridge will continue to get better. And as they rise in this league so will the success of the Blazers!!

According to ESPN.com's "uncited" sources Hedo has accepted the offer from the Blazers, but there is no official word yet.

nba.com has a story saying that turkoglu agreed to the terms of the contract with the blazers. basically it's a done deal. Wednesday is they the start of freeagency so it will be official then. This is gonna be a great move for the blazers. We add another SF which means Travis is for sure gone, and we can probably even get some good offers if we dangle martel into a trade situation. If we package Travis, Blake, and Webster there has to be an offer out there for a big name pg. Which would be everything we need. Not to mention Batum getting more minutes being behind only turkoglu and learning a lot from a veteran SF. PTI just announced hedo to the blazers as I am writing this btw

Who knows? Maybe we can work out some sort of sweet sign-and-trade with the Mavs to get Kidd... that would be awesome.

I am really unsure as to what the overall plan is, I know Hedo is coming in, but it doesn't sound like Martel or Batum are going anywhere. I think everyone is still unsure about Martell's health and they wanted to have a sure lineup for the beginning of the season. I expect there to be some sort of move later this summer, but I could be totally wrong on that too. KP makes a lot of decisions that seem crazy to us but end up working out just fine. I think Portland will actually have a Big 4 this year because I think Oden is going to break out this year. In certain lineups, we may even have a Big 5. I have heard a lot about the Blazers puting Rudy, Roy, Hedo, Aldrige, and Oden in together. Every one of the first three can create their own shots, pass the ball, and take it to the rack. This creates a seriously dangerous lineup and I am really excited to see how it works.

I was reading Mike Barrett's blog, and this is what he said.

Hedo Turkoglu has ended negotiations with the Trail Blazers, and reportedly will now look to the Toronto Raptors. Again, the Toronto news is coming from several sources and can't be totally confirmed. But, according to one very reliable source, I can tell you that Portland's part in this is over. The Raptors are in a position to be able to reportedly offer Turkoglu a 5-year deal, worth over $56 million. The Blazers probably could get in a position to match that, but it wouldn't be easy, and I'm glad they're not trying to get there. As I'm sure you know, it's believed the Blazers were offering 5-years, $50 mill. Sometimes it's simply about money, and it appears this is one of those cases. That's not being critical of Turkoglu at all, that's just the way it is. He said as much at PDX Thursday afternoon upon arriving. Turkoglu was one of the most popular players on an Orlando team that just played in the NBA Finals. Despite pleas from his teammates, he decided to opt out of his contract. He got an offer from Portland, and then got a better from Toronto. That's probably just about as simple as this is. I realize people will jump to make more of this than that, but I don't see a case for that here. As others have reported, including ESPN's Ric Bucher, Turkoglu's wife apparently strongly favored Toronto over Portland, because of its international population and culture. Of course, we can't confirm at this point if that was truly a factor. I can confirm that she wasn't with him on this trip to Portland, so I'm not sure what she had to compare it to. Either way, it doesn't matter now.

    ------------------------------------------

I am happy with this, Hedo is good but I just don't want him on our team - And he won't be :)
I am a fan of the love for our Trail Blazers :)

Well, if Turkoglu actually did change his mind then I don't want him to change his mind again and become a Blazer.  Because in a player I want someone who cares more about winning a championship than they do money.  Now, I know this is a business and you have to look out for yourself and if Hedo was 25 or 26 I wouldn't blame the guy.  But he is 30 and now wants to go to Toronto for the next five years?  He will NEVER win a championship in Toronto and he has to know that.  To me it's classic, "i'll take the money.  Wherever the money is i'll go."  Becoming a Portland Trailblazer should be a privelage for any free agent who wants to win a championship.  And I'm glad Artest is with the Lakers now, one more reason to hate him.  Now, we need to change our focus and go after a true veteran point guard (i.e. Andre Miller, Jason Kidd, Steve Nash)  But do not sign them over 3 years because they are all over 33.  Then go after a power forward (i.e. Gerald Green or Paul Milsap).  To me, we didn't "really" need Hedo in the first place.  It was just a case of he was the best freeagent available and we went for him.  But if this is true and he isn't available, then lets get some players in here that care about a ring...

Gerald Green at PF? At biggest he is a SF. The guy is atheletic but he's a guard/SF. As far as Hedo goes, I will believ it all when I see it. Just because the information is all "true" it still seems like speculation. Here are the FACTS: Toronto is willing to offer him 56 million dollars and the Blazers are not. The Blazers are no longer negotiating with Hedo. What is not said is that Hedo has renounced his interest in playing for Portland at 50 million in order to go to Toronto. You see what I'm saying? Until I see that he has infact signed with Toronto, all we have are the bare facts and are left to our own assumptions. Take it easy guys until Wednesday and just speculate, but don't get too serious about anything and don't believe anything.

Yea not too long ago there was another confimation of Hedo actually agreeing to the terms of a deal with the Toronto Raptors, so it's looking more and more like he's going to be a Raptor. But its all for the good now we can add Toronto to the list of teams that will be on the most hated list haha but really I'm glad we can focus on other needs right now.

Yeah, if he does sign with them it doesn't bother me. I was confused in the first place as to why he was their primary target. I heard him say something before the finals were up that it was all about the money this summer. I wonder if he or his wife are in some kind of financial trouble. Like she has a gambling problem and the Turkish Mob is after her. They're sending goons from Istanbul (not Constantinopal) to collect a debt if he doesn't give them 50 million dollars over the next 5 years. Now he is atleast going to keep a million a year for himself if he signs with Toronto not to mention the income tax is different. Now if he is playing in Toronto, does he get paid 56 million in US dollars or Canadian dollars? What's the exchange rate now? Maybe this was just a ploy the whole time to get someone to overpay. Maybe Nate's conversation over dinner was as follows, "Listen Hedo, we know you want money. We got screwed over by a bunch of GM's this year with Darius Miles and we are a little pissed. So come visit us in Portland. We will offer you 5 years 50 million, enough to shy off the window shoppers but not so much that someone else won't offer more. Agree 'in terms' and someone else will get scared and pony up the cash. You'll have your jumbo deal and we will have one less competitor on the market because they will have spent all their capspace. Sound like a good deal?" Like Pritchard said, "Someone is going to end up overpaying for him this year." Well, he made darn sure it happened. Now they have three days to offer contracts to another player they really want without having to compete with Toronto. How far ahead do you think he is looking? I know one thing, I am never going to invite KP over for Monopoly.

thats gotta be a joke man. Hedo's not even that great. I love the blazers, and I wouldn't give up LA and roy for anything.

but LA, Roy and Hedo better than boston 3? nope. better than Ginobili, Parker and Duncan? no again. better than kobe, gasol, and... hell I don't know, fisher? once more, no.

with that said, you add someone who can do something with the ball BESIDES shoot a bad percentage and can play D, then the 3 have the potential to better than all the pairings listed.

someone I've been pushing rashard lewis, would make a good addition to them. Also realistically; monta ellis, richard jefferson, ron artest, maybe even rudy gay?

unrealistically, which is way more fun, danny granger, chris paul, devin harris, deron williams, carmelo anthony? (eh, probably not), tony parker, kevin durant... probably missed a few, but oh well.

My final statement: Bayless in a couple years with LA and Brandon would be a better 3 than with hedo.

David we aren't getting Rashard Lewis so you can get that out of your head really fast. He agreed to a 5 year $126 million deal with Orlando, that's $21.2 million a year. He's not worth that and I don't see us paying that for him. Also, if you want someone who plays defense, Monta Ellis and Rudy Gay are NOT the options that's for sure.

Rudy Gay is awesome. He would definately help the Blazers starting rotation. That guy can straight light it up. Monte Ellis is a really fast point guard, and still is learning the game. He just sucks at riding a scooter and basically missed all last season.

I hate the fact that the Grizzlies got away with signing Miles.  WE ALL KNOW that they did that purposely to screw with our payroll.  It was a sleazy chess move on their part.  Anyway, the Blazers NEED a sufficient point guard and let Blake go if we are going with Bayless for the future.  There is no need in keeping Blake around if Bayless is right on his heels.  Bayless needs a veteran PG to learn from (i.e. Andre Miller or Steve Nash).  I would love to have Miller on our team, his willingness to be a sturdy, pass first PG would help us emmensly.  He knows how to drive and shoot the ball when needed, but is always looking to spread the floor.  Also, a player like Brandon Bass would be a blessing for us when LaMarcus isn't in the game.  But in reality, as long as we can get a dude who can block shots and rebound on the defensive end, that is all that counts.  The Blazers need to act on something fast or just leave the team as is.  I don't want a last-minute-big-money-desperate move a few weeks before training camp.

ah I didn't know about rashard's deal. oh and gay and ellis are more athletic than turkoglu, thus my reasoning for why, even if they are not better defenders now, they have more potential to be.
