    Trail Blazers (18-19) v. Hornets (9-28)

Not only is Portland closing out their three-game homestand before hitting the road for seven straight, but they are also looking for their first win post-All-Star break. And frankly, of the three games since the week-long layoff, the Trail Blazers have been beaten soundly in every one of their contests, only playing in spurts instead of for a full 48 minutes. Don't let New Orleans' 9-28 record fool you. We've all seen this Blazers team drop a couple to teams with poor records (Pistons, Wizards) and these Hornets are a respectable 5-5 in their last 10 outings, including wins over Utah, New York, and Dallas despite battling constant injuries problems the entire year.

New Orleans will definitely be without Eric Gordon and could also miss Carl Landry (MCL Sprain), Emeka Okafor (Left Knee), Jason Smith (Concussion) and Trevor Ariza (Illness). But this is nothing new to them or the Trail Blazers who have already faced and defeated the Hornets twice this year with key Hornets missing in action during both games. Even though New Orleans lacks a superstar and has been missing half their roster, for whatever reason the Blazers just can't dominate them like they should, only winning by an average of 7.5 points and only putting up an average of 88 points.

Much has been the case this year, this game will come down to effort and who wants it more. With this grueling seven-game road trip looming, it is imperative the Trail Blazers walk out of the Rose Garden victorious if they want any chance at reaching the postseason. More so than the outcome of the game, keep an eye on the body language of the team. Are they diving for loose balls, cheering from the bench, and playing with that look of desperation in their eye? That will be the key. Desire.

Reportedly, Felton is getting the start tonight.  Advertising?  Can't imagine there being any other reason.  We all need to be Felton fans tonight.

Not helping Portland's pursuit of their PGOTF, Rondo and DWill bolstered their market value significantly last night with insane performances...DWill going off for 57 points, and Rondo turning heads with an 18pt 20ass 17reb triple (at 6'3").  Portland can not afford to wait for free agency, especially with regard to PG, with the Lakers a more attractive destination and in as much need.  Go Blazers!  Go RayRay!

I have been following the rumors about possible trades and I can say one thing for sure.  Every team that wants to trade wants more than they are willing to give up.  The only trades that appear to be workable are those where both teams seem to benefit and I do not see many of them being proposed.  I think that a trade of Felton for Blake and a first round choice would be close.  You have to give something to get something but don't give away the farm to get one player.  Felton and Mathews and a second round choice for Rondo would be okay.  This could turn out to be a steal for Boston if Felton exhibits prior New York abilities and Mathews starts to get back to Utah form.  Certain players I would not trade would be e. williams, Batum, LA, Priz, Crawford, any other player get equal value.  A trade of Gerald as part of the Dwight trade where the Blazers would get about three first rounders would be a good start of the rebuilding effort.

Felton back in the starting lineup is definitely advertising.

    Post-Game Quotes:
LaMarcus Aldridge on not getting to the free-throw line for a third straight game-
“Teams are taking me out. But I haven’t had a clean post up in like three or four games so teams are trying to take me out and they’re trying to make us play somewhere else.”
Aldridge on importance of road trip-
"We could come back and definitely be way below .500 so I think guys know that this road trip is big for us.”
Nate McMillan on importance of road trip-

“Very important, very important. We’re 28 games remaining and I’m thinking you’re going to need around 38, 40 wins to get into this playoffs so very important.”

“We build off of this tonight. We know that we’ve got a lot of work to do and we’ve got a lot of improvement and we’ll take this game and look at tape. Minnesota is a team that just really had our number - go out and get ready for them.”

McMillan on whether it's the defense or Aldridge (not getting to the free-throw line-
“It’s a little bit of both. He’s going to have to work a little harder to get deep into that post position but teams are double teaming pretty quick which is forcing him to have to pass some. But we have to get him the ball and get some sets to get him deep so that he is deep enough where the double team can’t get to him as quickly.

Worth repeating...Aldridge deserved his All-Star selection FAR MORE last season, and it could even be argued that LaMarsha is back.  Hasn't he been looking at double-teams for awhile now?  Last year he put in the work and the effort and overcame, even without Roy on the floor complimenting.  This year I see alot of the same old Aldridge, saying as much on these boards prior.  The bottoms of his kicks are still white, with this season more than half over...still haven't gotten any paint on 'em.

Teams are only as good as their leader.  This team has imploaded.  LA is a "Robin".  Portland lacks the assets and is without the ability to add to it's roster a Batman, particularly in this market, before Robin hits the backside of his prime.  That being said, imo, noone is untouchable now.

Good to see RayRay have a solid game.

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...

Yeah and now Blazers have zero interest in Bynum. I really thought he was worth the small risk. If anything he would be at the end of our bench and we use him as a sub. Hopefully we do make some type of trade for a quality back up center. Right no...
