      So, here's the situation.

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=78nf76x

Now, the only way PORTLAND should do this trade is if Nash agrees to sign an extension, which I think he would after his comments.  He wants out of Phoenix, but doesn't want to abandon them.  Portland would be a good place for him.  Also, it'd be essential if Crawford resigns, which again, I think he would.

We'd be gaining a good shooter, and the leagues leader in assists.   We'd be sacrificing defense.  Crawford would move to starting at the SG position.  This means that Elliot Williams would get critical minutes off the bench.   Nash would also be a lot better of a mentor than Felton, so that gives Nolan a good opportunity to learn.

The only thing is, would Phoenix do this?  Felton hasn't been exactly great, but anyone smart knows he's a lot better than he's shown in Portland.  We'd also be giving up a huge fan favorite in Wesley Mathews, and also be giving up some defense.  However, Phoenix would be a great place for him as well.  He can shoot as much as he'd like and it's up tempo, something Wesley does well in.  Phoenix would get a young player with a lot of potential and great defense.  He's not too bad at offense either.   They'd also be getting Luke Babbitt, who... let's face it... has no career in Portland.

Would you do this?  If not, why not?  Portland has shown interest in Nash, and I think this is a cheap opportunity to pick him up, and both sides would benefit from it.

No. He is too old and we would be looking too much into the short term answer.

I agree with schwabbii.  My frustration isn't due to our beloved team's performance to this point, or even with likelihood a rebuilding effort is coming.  My frustration is with the obvious lack of direction and purpose this franchise is operating with moving closer to said rebuilding effort.  THAT is reason for concern.

Not interested in band-aids on severed limbs, and have the patience both with my mouth and my wallet, for a substantial rebuild orchestrated by management with vision.

I think I would do the trade.  If and only if Nash would sign an extension.  I think he would add some direction and other intangibles to our team.  Of course Nash's assists would go down if his teammates cannot sink the shots.

I'd rather trade Felton and Nolan Smith for Nash. PHX gets two young point guards and cap space. Then we move Babbit to D-League and sign Patty! Portland ends up with 3 reliable point guards, another veteran voice in the locker room, and insane depth.

This wouldn't work.  The hi part of this trade for Phoenix is they get Wesley, who is young and has some potential.  Plus he brings defense.  Felton has been struggling, so he doesn't look good in a trade, but Phoenix does get a reliable point guard in return.

If we traded Felton and Nolan, how would we have 3 reliable point guards if we signed Patty?  We'd have one - Nash.   Patty Mills isn't a reliable player, and he's shown that he's not reliable.  He had some good games, but I'd rather have Pryzbilla leading the team at PG than Patty.  And Crawford isn't a true point guard, but I guess he is reliable.

Thing is, we could do this trade and still be deep in the SG spot.  Crawford is a great scorer, and E-Will is full of promise.  This trade only helps both teams, it doesn't hurt either.

Ah...the fantasy world around trades.  Right now these three guys are garbage.  No one wants any of them until they start to show some promise.  There's no way Phx would take this trade.

If Nash signs a 2year extension then yes.
    Prefer us go get Rondo.

Yeah, he was tripping with that Scottie Pippen reference. Nowhere as good as him, BUUUTTT, I think he can be, if he plays like a man. In Euroleague, you are taught more about finesse, and the fundamentals. He needs to put a little more muscle on, ...

Thanks Siccolo, not to knock on Bosh. I think if he was the number one option he would go back to being a beast. I miss making jokes about him playing for the RAPTORS. He is a great player.
