I think it is a good move to Waive Oden.  He has at least two years recovery ahead of him.

    Thoughts anyone!

    Wrong move.

Armon Johnson goes first. Even with rehab, Oden has exponentially more potential to help us in the future then Armon does.

Check out the lineups, with the most proven player/highest potential first, least is last:

Guards: Felton, Crawford, Mathews, Nolan, Elliot, Armon (6th)

Center lineup: Camby, (Pryz?), Thomas, C.Johnson, Oden (5th)

So even if/when we get Pryz back, and even if none of our bigs have any injuries to deal with at any point (other than Oden)... I'd say it's a wash as to which one (AJ or GO) will actually see minutes in a Blazer jersey any time soon (lol), but Greg will still be way better for us down the road simply based on what we KNOW he can do.

And the fact that even a mediocre guard (which is above Armon's level right now) is a dime a dozen, compared to a decent center being worth their 7-ft-tall weight in gold. There are hardly any true centers in the league, and even less that have the game Oden did when healthy. That's not a fantasy just because each one of us wasn't there to see it, he IS that talented. Really. And even with all of his missed games, he has easily contributed more to Blazer Wins than Armon ever could, unless AJ somehow breaks out and becomes the next Jeremy Lin (he won't)!

Barring a supernatural event, Oden should still be wearing a Blazer jersey long after Armon Johnson has moved on.

Well said Blazer 247.  The risk/benefits weigh out to keeping Oden over Armon.  They wouldn't have signed him at all this year if they were willing to waive him just like that.  We are so much more fragile in the bigs, we've got to keep everything we've got.

More importantly, Greg's expiring contract is a much more valuable asset in trade than is Armon Johnson

Paul Allen said how do we get better?  I see no activity in the draft with no draft picks.  The trade possibilities are limited because of the value of our bench players.  We have no cap space.  So I think the improvement of our b...

First Game starts tonight. Houston is a tough first round opponent and they play exceptionally well at home. If we can steal a game or two at their place, I feel like we have extremely good chances.

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...
