What has happened to the game?

I have been a trail blazer fan sense 1968, I grew up on bill shaunly announcing the games. I am so disappointed in raymond felton why does he even get sent out on the floor? he needs to be benched for a player that can drive and pass without turning the ball over and be able to make more shots then he misses. I find myself saying no get it out of feltons hands please!!!!! but no he throws up the brick again and takes our 8 point lead single handedly down to 10 in only 5 plays. Also whats up with the officiating oh my god, what the blazers dont pay them as much as the other team so we dont get fair calls? game after game for several years now all ive seen the opposing team do something on their end and portland is called for a foul then the next play the same thing is done on the other end of the court and who is called for the offensive foul but portland. I have to say that I have had just about enough and am ready to give up on professional basketball all together.Oh and I am assuming that batum hit himself in the nose and made it bleed and hmmm no call on that one was there.  I am one pissed off fan to say the least. In 1977 when we won the champoinship the blazers played as a team there was no one man saves the day guy, we had the train that could make plays and shoot we had lucas the enforcer we had walton that had eyes in the back of his head and mini walton dave twartzic that could cause all kinds of havoc and bob gross with his awsome moves. What ever happened to court awareness? I wish the nba would have never have had jourdan who changed the game, for me anyway for the worse, by making it into a "we need a go to man to win the game" type of game instead of teams who could pass the ball and creat plays for "team" mates. Look at Magic Johnson now there was a player that knew what being a team was all about. bring in some of those guys again please. Sorry for the rant but I miss real basketball and not games decided by referee's.

There is only one Magic Johnson, he's a very gifted and creative player. The great ones sacrificed so much for their teams. We had a player like that in Brandon Roy, but unfortunately his time with Portland was shortened. If anything, these games tell you just how awesome our superstar guard played. Roy would hit game winners with his eyes closed.

i completely agree i've only been a fan since the early 90s since i was born in the mid 80s but even since then i've seen a decline in team play across the league and now it's all about individuals who can be marketed (see the new lin craze) I think that is why the blazers tend to not get officiating calls late in games because they don't have a big important marketable player, even with roy i think he frowned upon selling out like that which is  just even more reason to love him. he let his game market itself.

as much as i've hated steve nash for knocking us out of the playoffs i think his game would put this portland team over the top, i hope we can make a reasonable move for him that doesn't involve batum or LA. at least he'd direct the team to move without the ball and reward those that do with open looks. I dont know if players just dont care because they make a ton of money or what but if you play 48 minutes of hustle and team ball you can easily win in this league regardless of how many superstars or "closers" you have.

look at last night, we dismantled the clippers in the first half with strong cuts to the rim, hard scrappy defense, hustle, heart, and clean passing. i got all excited for nothing because we came back in the second half a completely different team that didnt look like a team at all. it looked like nate decided to play nothing but crawford on isolation plays and you just cant do that for a whole quarter. i understand the rest of the offense looked flat but after 3-4isos dont teams figure it out? if no one is cutting to the basket sit them and put in a young guy that has legs.

Altho Steve Nash is an awesome player and always has played with heart he is getting old and we dont need another expensive old player on the blazer roster. When this season started the team was 7-2 because they played as a team and now something has changed and they no longer play that way and look where its taken us, right down the loosing path. I think if Portland lets Batum go for any reason that would be their biggest mistake sense picking up Bowie! LA, Batum, Canby and Wallace are the heart and soul of this team at the moment I hope they find a way to teach the rest of the players how to play with the heart they have, even an ounce of their heart would be a huge improvement in the franchise.

This game has regressed significantly.  Focus is now on athleticism, not talent or skill...individualism and individuals, not team play/teams.  Technology is as responsible as anything.  Agree with stacksfan as well, offering the Blake Griffin Show running 24/7 on ESPN as an example.  The man is a tremendous athlete, but an average basketball player at best.

In this fans opinion Blake Griffon is just another shak, I was so shocked to see him win the dunk contest when I dont remember who it was but he dunked 3 balls in one leap, I was just stunned, heck I can jump over a car and im 50, sure maybe i couldnt dunk a ball but im too short to dunk anyway. I have watched blake and i really dont see anything special about dunking a ball over and over again. Where is he any more special that 90% of the NBA players out there?

blake griffin is another shaq? are you insane? shaq was one of the most dominant centers to ever play. thats a fact. i agree that griffin didnt have the best dunk in the contest last year. the slam dunk contest needs an over haul. it is so boring and the props and showmanship angle is rediculous. its like the same guy is making up these stupid gimmicky dunks every single year

Shaq did not have an outside shot but for about 8 years there when you played shaq's team opposing teams in the paint points scored dropped by at least 40%-60%. and who needed an outside shot when noone could stop his 3-8 footers. No Griffenstien is no Shaq, right now he has a few refs, sports casters are starting to see the light about him. 30% are calling him overrated and he is. He reminds me of Darrel Dawkins. Neanderthal Basketball. Age catches up to you real fast when that is all you got and you fade away.

Actually, I would like Henson. Dude is a legit BEAST. 17 points, 25 rebounds, 7 blocks. Larry who, this guy will be a star.

You''re right. They should dump Monta though. I was thinking maybe the Rockets could use the number 1 pick to get the lakers to do a sign and trade for D12.

Paul Allen might sell the Blazers but the Blazers will never leave Rip City.
