Losing to a 6-22 Team is prime example of what I am talking about.  I do not care if LA got hurt (of course I do), he will be back, and we have enough talent on this team to win.  I hate the excuses "it was an emotional letdown" or "we should have won against OKC".  This is basketball; players get hurt it is part of the game as well as referees make horrific calls.  GET OVER IT AND PLAY THE DAMN GAME, the way it is supposed to be played.  I am tired of all the excuses, just play.  You are supposed to be Physically Tough, but more importantly Emotionally Tough.  Suck it up and Man up!

We have a boat load of talent on this team, and we are great at the free throw line, so drive the lane get fouled and go to the line instead of taking these 25 foot jump shots with 15 seconds left on that shot clock.

I am sorry for all this venting, but I live in Lakers Country and the only sports I watch are my Oregon Ducks and the Blazers and the Mariners on the rare occasion they are on TV.  It is just extremely frustrating when all you here is excuse after excuse after excuse on why this is happening to the Blazers.

    NO MORE EXCUSES.

AGREED. Everything you said is accurate (except for 'refs making horrific calls' being part of the game... it may have been part of the game for years, but it's the 21st century with cameras everywhere. It's time for that to change and get rid of the outside influence).

I really feel that, like you said, one of the biggest problems we have on this team starts with their affinity for taking outside jumpshots. Like you said, we've got a solid % at the line, so why do they NOT think that driving to the hoop (especially late in the game when the D will be tired and not planting their feet) would be a great way to get easy buckets?

Part of this is definitely coaching. If Nate wants to keep his job, he needs to get vocal, get angry, and get these guys back to playing SMART basketball. That means ball movement, getting in the paint, and taking higher % shots.
But I'm also worried that part of the jumpshot addiction has to do with LaMarcus, as he goes from his former self to his new-and-(hopefully)improved All-star Self...
As a power forward, Aldridge is known far and wide as having a superb touch on his outside jumper, not unlike the other big Texas PF, Dirk Nowitzki. The problem he now faces is that over the last few years, especially when LA was not yet our #1 offensive option, he's developed too much comfortability with his jumpshot as a critical part of his offense, instead of being his confident backup-method when his other offensive options are taken away by the D. And just like the Blazers do with their opponents (play to their level, leading to good games against good opponents and bad games against bad ones), I think it's totally possible that our other guys are seeing LaMarcus running his offense through jumpshots, and subconsciously they're thinking they can/should be doing the same! They need to be reminded that it works for Aldridge due to the same reason it usually works for Thomas and Crawford; because those players are exceptionally consistent with their jumpers! That does NOT mean it's the way all our Blazers should be trying to score.

No excuses here, either. Just hoping they can fix it immediately. Like, last week immediately.

True about the refs making the horrific calls but until David Stern pull his head out and comes up with some sort of instand replay rule, we will have just rely on bad calls.

Bottom Line is the BLAZERS from Paul Allen to the Luke Babbitt and everyone in between to quit making any sort of excuse for poor performance.

As Robert Denior said in "Men of Honor", it is time for them to "GROW A PAIR".

They went 7 - 2 at the start of the season without Roy and I think they started believing their own press clippings.

i was excited to see felton come in this year and he's done nothing but dissapoint offensively. i think batum stepped up last night and looked amazing driving to teh basket and posterizing people. i say you bench felton and see if nolan smith and EW are willing to do the same with their opportunities. also whats up with nate showing the rhino almost no love? aldirdge went down, rhino has put in quality minutes when he's had the chance, and we are on a back to back to back. USE THE FREAKING BENCH NATE. i want to see chris johnson and camby on the floor together, i guarantee no one gets a layup.

until this team starts to grow a collective pair i say use the young guys and see how hungry they are. i'd rather loose a game and get our young guys experience and let them proove themselves over loose cause half the starters are too lazy to execute.

Without LaMarcus, start Camby, Chris Johnson, and Rhino at the small forward and then put Batum at PG and Wallace at SG.  You would get points from Batum and good ball control, no one would get thru the lane with those three on the front line and then add wallace crashing the boards who knows.  I tell you I do not know if we would win, but those 5 on the floor maybe would have a PAIR and be able to get the spark back that Patty Mills was able to last year.

COME ON BLAZERS BROW A PAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Batum is the best shooter Portland has right now, and he is showing more aggression driving to the hoop, still sticks the ball out a little too soon but improving. For me I want to see 7 rebounds per game from him, should be easy, he has the talent to get that and more. It will be interesting to see how much he improves now that he's a starter.

I remember last year wehn Roy went out and LA had to step up.  Batum and hopefully one other will step up and take the leadership while LA is out.  Ie we get two or three to step up right now, this would be contagious and the rest of the team will follow.

Another great of example of no Pride and Gutts in this team.  How the "F" do you lost to a team after having an 18 point lead in your own building?  They are figuring our new and creative ways to lose.

They got an 18 point leed by playing hard old fashioned team ball in the first half giving the ball to the open man and moving it fast enough they would get one with an open shot or driving hard to the rim and jamming it in, that was all gone by the time the second half started, the second half looked like the globe trotters playing a college team
I am a fan of the NBA fining referee's for obvious stupid calls and HARD AGRESSIVE DEFENCE FROM START TO FINISH NOT WAITING TO DIG A 10-30 POINT HOLE

I do not know if Nate can get them playing Team Ball for 48 minutes.  Felton Needs to be BENCHED

Alright, last night they played OK in the second half.  However they decided not to show up in the first half.  I thought when Felton started the game with a three it was going to be a good night.  I finally turned off the game at 37-7.

What is it going to take to get this team to play an entire 48 minutes of basketball?
