I know that everyone here has a love affair with Nate, but at some point in time we need to realize that he isn't the coach to bring us a championship. He has been great and has done a lot of things for this organization, yet we have always had trouble in the end of games. We have a lot of guys with so much to offer and I feel like if we got a coach who is capable of getting these guys up to play like they are getting paid to do, then we would win a lot more. What happened to the uptempo offense? What happened to the smart play? Now is the time to get someone new. We have an all-star in Aldridge and an amazing core who can do some damage. I wanna see Batum step it up and Nate is not the coach to help him do that. Your thoughts?

Championship? Have you been watching this season? I'm just happy we're still above .500!

I still think that they can win the championship. I've been watching the Blazers game all season long and I think as long as they are able to win some games on the road, Blazers is going to be a great team. Note: Everybody is healthy until the end of the season.

love nate but his weaknesses are drawing up last second plays and using too tight of a rotation in this condensed schedule.

Nate is a great teacher, but he is weak in getting the team to perform in the 4th quarter.  We need to step up the defense in the forth quarter (especially on the road).  He was a defensive player when he played so I do not get why he is not able to convey this with the team.  He needs to fix it or go!

Coach Nate has been great for us, in the last several seasons when we had so many problems that any solid production was impressive. And yes, we've had a number of roster issues already this year, BUT this has ended up being a squad with SERIOUS potential to carry the Blazers past their mark from the last few seasons.

To do that though, McMillan needs to learn flexibility and how to change his habits, and he needs to learn these things immediately, or he's not going to help us anymore.

Nate is known across the NBA as one of the most predictable coaches out there. He has old-school type habits from playing D in a generation of basketball that we have evolved past, and that style no longer wins games like it used to. I just don't understand why he won't make adjustments. He has more healthy, talented players on his roster this year than any of the last several, AND in a condensed season where youth and newbies are going to have a greater influence, he's got some of the best he could ask for.

Bear with me here...Everything about the Trailblazers squad (on paper) screams that we are a new type of team that you are going to have difficulty stopping. (On paper) we have a veteran super-blocking center, an all-star forward and former all star forward, and 2 above-average guards who play both ends of the floor. Then off the bench (on paper) we have a former 6thMOTY, a euro-league star and team leader, an NCAA champ, and another veteran center with grit and intelligence. Fill in the gaps with youth and energy and freakish athleticism, and how is this NOT supposed to be an impressive team?
The problem arises when you look at the team on the floor, under Nate's supervision, instead of on paper. Now we have a veteran center who needs rest and gets benched in the 4th instead of finishing games with his defense... an allstar forward who settles for outside jumpshots because if he gets double teamed he has to pass it out insted of driving through... a former all star who turns invisible on the road, and guards who are too indecisive in their actions to have accurate shots (because Nate is trying to get them to play out of their position). Our euro-star gets stuck between the top and bottom 5 instead of leading the 2nd squad, and our 6thMan is asked to play differently than what he's been so good at before, dropping the floor out from his percentages. And what happened to our NCAA pickup, and all our youth and energy? They're not even part of Nate's rotation!!! WTF COACH!!!

Please, if ANYONE can justify Nate's actions concerning our rotation, I NEED to hear it... Does he think that our main pieces need the extra minutes because we don't get enough practices, and he's trying to improve their conditioning/chemistry earlier in the season so they're solid later? Does he think that our younger players need to improve their game intelligence by watching from the bench more often? Or is it really just because McMillan is one of those traditionalists, that thinks the fundamentals were better back in his day and if he forces this team to play like he remembers, then we'll be as good as the Blazers of old? ...I just don't get it, someone please explain this to me because I've seen high-school coaches with a better eye for what their team needs! I'm sick of it, Nate! Coach like it's modern basketball, PLEASE!!!

I'll never stop believing in my Blazers, but I've lost an enormous amount of my faith in Coach Nate due to his disgusting rigidity. I really just can't come up with a strategy in my head that helps justify what he's doing with our rotation. Right now, until McMillan can show us differently, I'm worried that he's going to take the best Blazers squad we've had in a long time, and drive it right into the dirt, probably in the first round of the playoffs. Just like he has the last few years.

PLAYERS need to bring consistency, and the confidence to stick with their skills even when the bounce isn't on their side.

COACHES need to bring IMPROVEMENT. Their job is to motivate the players, push them to perform and help show them where the weaknesses are in their opponents, and come up with a gameplan as how to best take advantage of our players and the opponent's players.

Nate McMillan is NOT motivating our players (Aldridge, Camby, and Crawford are). I haven't seen us play ANY game so far this year where I was thinking "Wow, we really tore them apart strategically with our awesome game plan". And I certainly haven't seen Nate bring us IMPROVEMENT in the last few seasons.

It's great that in years past, McMillan could take a weakened squad and squeeze a solid season out of them. But I'd argue that we never REALLY outperformed our expectations or potential. Now he's having to struggle to even get the same results out of a much more solid squad. If we can't at least reach our expectations this season (of getting out of the first round in the playoffs), then Nate is NOT meeting the requirements of being a coach, and we need to look closely at who else is available to take us to the next level.

Our team is here, now we need our general to come out of his shell or we need a new general.

@Tobyus, at some point this team needs to be title contenders. If we don't start producing, Paul Allen might just give up!

OK just stop it, Paul Allen is the biggest Blazer fan of all. He's feeling it just like everyone. He's not giving up just because our backcourt just got outscored 80-20. Oh wait, oops, maybe I shouldn't have said that ):

We need a coach with a new style that motivates and gets his team to play more as a team.  Im a 49er fan and anybody who watches NFL knows how much they improved this year cuz of Harbaugh.  He got his guys to play like a team and believe in themselves.  This team doesn't have any of that... Time to make a change....

I like Nate, I think he's a great coach who could someday win a championship. But not with this Portland team.
I think it is showing on the floor that his players have lost confidence in him. After the games Nate is always saying what they did or didn't do what they need to do and all that. It's not getting through to the players.

Yes the players need to make all these corrections, but why have coaches if it was all up to the players? The coaches jobs are to bring out the best in all of the players, and this is clearly not happening. The right coach with the right players will make a huge difference, maybe not overnight, but 7 years is too long. So, there's 2 options keep Nate and clean house, or keep the players and get a new coach. Seeing how we got a very good core of players it makes more sense to find a new coach.

Look at Houston, I would take our players against them any day, but McHale has them playing to their full potential right now. Imagine what it would be like if Portland played to their full potential.

As much as Paul Allen is a Blazer fan, it is also a lot of money to put into a team that isn't going anywhere. He is a business man first and foremost.

Paul Allen has plenty money. His faith in the team is not the issue. The player's faith in the team, and faith in their coach, is.

Yeah and now Blazers have zero interest in Bynum. I really thought he was worth the small risk. If anything he would be at the end of our bench and we use him as a sub. Hopefully we do make some type of trade for a quality back up center. Right no...
