I think it is becoming more and more obvious; we need to start Batum and give him more minutes. The defense intensity just picks up, and the whole floor seems way more spread. He has struggled to shoot threes the last 2 games, yes. Things will not stay that way. We also have to give him the ball more because he struggles on getting enough touches; even when he is open.
On the flip side i think Mathews likes to put his head down and go to work, which he can't in the starting lineup.

Another thing i have noticed is we have to many scorers, but none of our players can i just stand in the quarter and shoot (besides maybe Batum.) We need either 1 more great shooter to stand and take shots in the corners. Having a person to pass the ball well may also be a plus (total knock on Felton for not making shots, and not passing the ball too well this year.) I feel we are one move away to just bursting out as an elite, but that slight edge we need can be hard to come by. Blazers management has to think long and hard to find what player(s) need to be traded for, and just go after them.

are you pushing that trade on multiple threads now? still don't see the advantage it gives us... neither cj nor devin is the answer for what portland needs

I agree with starting Batum and I definitely think it should happen at the 2 position. It's a hard decision to put Nic in front of Gerald because they both have a lot of value on the floor. But Nic over Matthews would be better shooting, passing, and rebounding with the same defensive ability. I think Camby, Aldridge, Wallace, Batum, Felton is a great line up. Add to that 6th man Crawford and maybe even trading matthews while his stock is high. I think when you have Nic, Jamal, and Elliot, Nic can still play at the 3 giving Wallace a break and maybe freeing up minutes for Luke Babbit; Jamal's minutes at the point could be lessened and he can focus on being the scoring machine he was signed to be (this also gives the back-up PG position back to Nolan); Elliot still wouldn't be playing huge minutes since there are two players ahead of him, but he can score and defend well enough to give quality minutes off the bench. This frees up Matthews for a trade, possibly him and Camby for another center?

Should be easy, because crawford is backing up felton instead anyways, why not have mathews back up batum

Claver will make a great squad player when he develops his outside shot. His size is an asset because he can guard SF and stretch 4s. If he can be a better rebounder and add a post move to his game we could be looking at a possible answer to our f...

Oden was definitely the best pick coming out of high school and arguably ahead of Durant in the 2007 draft. But the draft is art not science and we really needed a dominant center at the time. If we can get Oden for a short term low-risk deal. Lik...
