    Gerald Wallace   $10,650,000
    Marcus Camby    $9,250,000
    Raymond Felton  $7,500,000
    Jamal Crawford   $5,000,000
    Nicholas Batum   $2,150,000
    Greg Oden          $1,560,000
    Kurt Thomas       $1,350,000
    Craig Smith        $850,000
    Chris Johnson     $760,000
    Armon Johnson   $760,000

Here's $40,000,000 worth of free agents next year. I think it's time to reload. Trade Wallace for draft picks before the trade deadline and see if Batum will finally develop aggressive skills. I'm not saying to let all these players walk but there is definite possibility of change.

Does Portland still have the rights to Joel Freeland? I think his European contract is up after this year. If we still have him we need to get him here next year.

This is Nate's 7th year here, he is 2 games above 500. I think we start over with a new coach too.

The good thing is that we would still have a very good base with LA and either Batum or Matthews. We need a point gaurd, 30-35 minute a game big man, and a playmaker. In order to get that playmaker we need the spot and minutes for whoever that would be, that means Matthews or Batum goes. I'm for keeping Crawford as the 6th man, I think he is starting to find his comfort zone.

Paul Allen needs to hire a real GM before anything else.

I can't take watching this team anymore. Paul Allen has had 23 years to bring us a championship and he can't>either sell the team to an owner that can get big time players or get rid of Nate. so sick of this team right now

First Jamal Crawford and Kurt Thomas are not free agents next year, they both signed 2 year deals. Its sad to say, but other than batum and maybe C. Johnson and craig smith i dont see any of those other guys coming back. ITs going to get very interesting in the off season. Also Nate needs to go, i was at the game tonight and he just can win in close games. Wheels gave a stat that when the blazers trail after the third quarter we are 0-10. Thats just not right. We need a coach that can run a good offense in the 4th quarter.

Not sure its the coach guys, the shots arent falling and the plays are not being played to the end in crunch time. The final shot vs OKC for instance was a broken play intended for LA who passed out of a phantom double team to K.Thomas (who wasnt going to take the last shot). He found Crawford, but much to late and he forced a blocked shot around two OKC defenders... Players have to see the play through as it was designed, or its not going to work.

I am alsways tired of thinking about next year.  I was in the stands in 1977 when they beat Philly.  Thirty Four years is enough waiting until next year.  DO IT NOW!

Crawford, Thomas, and Wallace have player options for the second year. They money will be there for probably all three, at least Wallace and Crawford, if they want to test the market.

It is the coach and his staff. They are showing no effort, they refuse to rebound, defend the paint, and have a serious problem getting back on defense which turn into too many fast breaks for the other team. These are things the coach is supposed to be getting these guys to do. It isn't just this year, they have been lazy for the last several years. They suffer worse this year because they have no big playmaker. Yes when shots are falling it makes it easier but the Blazers are not built as a shooting team, even Nate will tell you this is a running team, this is what he has always wanted.

A coach is supposed to lead, inspire, and hold accountable and I see nothing close to it. Nate has teaching skills, some of the best, but he has poor game execution skills as a coach.

Paul Allen, needs to start spening money like he did in the early 90's and pay the Luxury Tax.  He can afford it.

Here I was thinking I was the only one who hadn't abandoned objectivity...the only one not constantly sipping on the local Kool-Aid.  Nice post.  I believe this team has been looking forward now for some time and has positioned itself nicely.  Even as Wallace was brought here by Cho and everyone was celebrating the immediate, I was celebrating his contract as well and said as much.  Brilliant move, and one that likely would have paid more short-term dividends without the unfortunate and untimely retirement of Roy and ongoing unavailability of GO.  The backside of that deal will soon become the most talked about portion moving forward.  Liked the deal that was reportedly on the table at the start of this season with Orlando, the one sending Wallace there for three first rounders and possibly a trade exception.  First rounders from a DHo-less Magic team will be valuable, particularly in this upcoming deep draft.  In lieu of GW's inconsistent play thus far this season, that proposed deal looks like a missed opportunity.  Rebuilding is in the future here, the immediate future...and yes, you can quote me.  Need a GM.

I am so disappointed in this team.  Most of the players are having seasons well below their normal.  I do not think the team as a whole can play the way everyone thinks they should play.  I think they need to focus on each players' strengths and start going in that direction.  We have a point guard who was averaging 9+ assists while he played in New York.  So why is he averaging so few assists now.  Is it our shooters cannot shoot or is he playing a different system.  I am not giving up on this team but indicators are showing a lack of Grit in the 4th guarter.  Or they are so far behind they cannot catch up.  I thought this team would be a 7th seed.  Now I am not sure they will make the playoffs as they are playing like a 50-50 club.

Nate out, B. Roy in as head coach? I know that really wouldn't work, but we definitely need a known "comeback kid" calling the shots at the end of the game.

I don't see any reason both Batum AND Wallace can't stick around. But Nic needs more minutes at the 2 that way. I think Felton will want to come back, but we'll have to see what happens (specifically what changes) this season. Same goes for Crawford. I really doubt Oden will be back.  Say goodbye to Armon. Face the fact that Kurt Thomas is probably in his last NBA season. I don't think I'd sign Camby back, but they might. As great as Craig Smith has been, I think his contract is more of a roster spot than a team commitment. I don't know if he'll be back, and he might be looking to raise his stock here and get more money with a team that will also give him more minutes.

I want to see the Blazers keep their integrity and chemistry, but I don't really mind if the roster goes through major changes. We don't look like a championship team this year. I'm as sick of the next fan of waiting for next year... but it looks like we're all cursed to at least one more year of that. Hopefully, starting soon, the right pieces are obtained to build around LaMarcus and the All-Star can add a ring to his resume.

this team lacks attitude. everyone wants to be best friends and have each other over for dinner. no one wants to hurt any ones feelings by calling the out.

What Paul Allen needs to do is this,
1st, trade Gerald Wallace for draft picks before this years trade deadline, then hope for the best for the rest of this year,
at season end fire Nate, if he doesn't walk on his own,
in the off season hire a GM,
then let the GM hire a coach of his choosing, which then hires the coaching staff of his choosing.

Then let the new GM build a new team through the draft and free agency. Not necessarily around LA I still think he's a Robin, we need Batman.

Benh, the problem with that plan is that now you're looking at Trailblazers being contenders in about 2019. A lot of people don't seem to realize that you typically make your team worse by doing 2 things: (1) building through the draft and (2) drastically changing the roster on a frequent basis. This blazer team isn't playing to their potential, Nate is having problems, and YES something needs to change. However, bringing in rookies and lots of players that have never played with our building blocks isn't the way to go. I guarantee if that happened we would have a worse record next year than we will this year.

I completely agree. We have to much free cap space and need to take advantage. However we should forget the Euro players we have rights too. I have watched their stats and they certainly aren't impressive. Batum was putting up way better stats in France this year and he is on our bench half the time. There are a lot of good players coming off contracts (especially big men). Lets do what we can to get at least one of those, trade for first rounds because we basically have NONE (can always retrade first rounds if there is nothing we want in this years draft), and maybe sign 1 big name with our extra cap.

This season's western conference champs, OKC, were built through the draft, AND by a GM Portland once had on their payroll.  Forgetting about the Durant v. Oden argument for a moment, this is the frustrating thing for me.  This franchise has very little choice in how to rebuild, with this market being as undesirable as it is.  Draft, and a trade here and there.  Problem with the trade scenario now is that you first must have something others want and something you're willing to part with.  Wallace seems to be the only fit, and I see all sides winning (including Gerald) if he is dealt.  Wallace is on the backside of his career and, as a fan of his, I feel he has earned the right to compete for a championship.  That's not going to happen in Portland before he hangs the kicks up, if we're being honest.

I say keep certain peices and rebuild around LA, Elliott, Batum, and Wesley.  Trade the rest for picks or lose them to gain cap space and try to improve quickly with the guys you already have.

Of course. I never said unload the entire team and start from scratch. Obviously we keep LA (and sign him to an extension as soon as possible, before Dallas comes sniffing around), see how the rest of this year plays out and make a decision to either resign Crawford if he's willing and trade Matthews, or let Crawford walk and keep Matthews. I haven't given up on Matthews yet, if nothing else he's our best defender right now. Or let them both go and resign Batum and make him the starting SG, hopfully we get to see how this would look now.

Assuming Camby retires, and I think it would be best for Portland considering his high pay, through the draft and free agency Blazers need a starting center, starting point guard, and depending what we do with Batum, Matthews, and Crawford, either a starting SF and or a starting SG.
