At 12:01 P.M last night the portland trailblazers called up Hedo Turkoglu and made a hefty offer to him. I watched ESPNEWS this morning when they broke the story. The blazers have made an offer that the Magic can not match because of Vince Carter's contract. The only two teams in the running for Hedo are Portland and Toronto and I don't think a transition from Florida to Canada will be in Hedo's favor. Looks like we got Turkoglu Blazer Nation! Any comments, what do you all think of this soon to be done deal with the former Magic star?

Honestly I'm afraid that he will take away a lot from Brandon Roy. I'm sure Hedo will want the ball, more so than Outlaw. That means less ball control for Roy. Unless Roy vastly improves his off-the-ball movement I don't see this working for us. I could be wrong though.

im not sure i like this. hes gonna start getting old. i dont want him to have this big ol contract. but whatever we will see. he could be that starting sf we need. but i want nicholas to develop and i dont think he can if we get hedo : /. i think we should trade outlaw for something.

    Blake(?), Bayless
    Roy, Rudy
    Turk, Batum
    Aldridge, Outlaw/Pendergraph(?)
    Joel, Greg

Honestly doesn't look too bad to me. And I hate to say it, but I think Martell gets traded before Outlaw, simply because Outlaw can play the 3 and 4 (albeit sometimes fairly ineffectively.)

I'm not 100% Turk will work out as well as the team seems to hope, but either way I'm glad KP is being active as he promised. After the trade deadline and draft this year, people started calling him scared to act... he's acting now! In the words of the great 'Psycho T', we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

so if outlaw can be a somewhat ineffective 3 or 4, why does that make him less expendable than a productive 3 in martell?

eh dear Lord I don't want turkoglu! last years production isn't guaranteed this season because his numbers before the last 2 seasons weren't as good. plus he's in his 30's. I'm disappointed in what seems to be an uncharacteristic move by KP

I'd take him for 3 years max and make generous incentives in salary the further we go into the playoffs. Let Webster work his way back in and prove he's a starter. Package Outlaw for a PG upgrade.

turkoglu would make us a championship contending team, with roy turkoglu and aldridge we wouldnt need a star point guard, rudy needs to stop whining, if he can make 5 million euros playing in greece then do it because with webster coming back and if we get turkoglu we wouldnt need rudy.

ok first off, im not sure what 5 million euro's is compared to our money, but i think letting Rudy go would kills us on the bench. Who would bring the spark he does when he's hitting three or driving the lane or making some circus shot that only Brandon Roy could understand how it went it. I think bringing Hedo will have a good effect. Say we sign him for two years, and regardless if outlaw is traded or not, this could be a spark under Webster to step it up and say he does, well then Webster is a star and in the last year of Hedo's contract we ship him off for draft picks, players whatever. I think him coming here will push webster and regardless, i think itll work out good for us. KP has a plan and fall back plan, and a Oh S**T plan at all times im thinking, so lets just trust this man. Come on, he helped us shed the Jail Blazers image and turn us into a respectable team.

I don't like it at all! There aren't enough shots to go around as it is. Everybody knows that B-Roy is our go to guy and LA is #2, we all want Greg Oden to develop into our #3. If that happens can Hedo accept being the #3 or #4 option? Plus, if we lose Rudy in this mix that would be terrible for our bench. The kid is going to be an allstar within the next few years. Bring in an Andre Miller for less money and let the team develop!

Blazers are not a greedy team! As long as Hedo can settle in to the offense we have, we have a chance to win it all. If the opponents double Roy and Pressure Aldridge we will finally have a 3rd threat that they wont be able to handle.

    1)S. Blake, N. Bayless
    2)B. Roy, R. Fernandez
    3)H. turkoglu, M. Webster/N. Batum
    4)L. Aldridge, T. Outlaw
    5)G. Oden, J. Pryzbilla

I don't thing there is much any team can do to match up. We will have 3 beastly scorers! Oden crashing the boards! and blake making the three look like a free throw! Not to mention every bench player can play to the level of the starters.

Yea I'm afraid of the free-agent fall off as I call it haha, where a guy gets signed to that nice chunk of change he's been waiting on his whole career then during the new contract time he starts playing garbage ball infuriating owner, gm, coach and fans of the team. Basically, I have that feeling about making a big deal to a Turkoglu he would seem to be the primary candidate to do something like that. I'm all for the development of Batum and Webster (everyone seems to be in agreement about trading Outlaw for some reason) so Webster can become that #3 scorer that everyone seems to be looking for, because if not him then Oden has a chance to be that guy.

The bottom line is, no matter how unhappy everyone might be, the Blazers are going to make the moves they want to make... Why not try and be positive and optimistic about it? I've had too many years of being a jaded fan with this team, I'm happy to be able to just trust what they're doing and hope for the best, man!  :)

What will happen when we get a chance to grab someone like Battier? Will we ask for Rudy's approval then too? I think he lost major points in most eyes but I could be wrong. Assuming we get Hedo, I think our starting lineup would be

    Blake / Bayless
    Roy / Rudy
    Hedo / Batum
    Allridge / Webster / Pandergraph
    Oden / Joel

If we sign Hedo will their be another Rally at the square? I wouldn't put it past the Blazers.

It's not like Hedo is our number one draft choice. He doesn't need a rally. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve one though!

You wouldn't put it past the Blazers? You say it like its a bad thing to welcome new players to our team. The blazers aren't a team of propagandists. They are a team of people who love there fans as much as we love them. The move for Hedo will be made despite was some of the fans think. You can never make a move that will satisfy everyone. Also people need to stop making this deal a matter of Hedo comes Rudy goes. We don't know if any of it is even true and someone said in a different other post that Rudy said he was fine with the draft two days ago and enjoys being a blazer. So how about everyone chill out and have a little faith in a couching staff that has already made a solid team.

IF Hedo is signed, and there is a rally, I will have to miss it.  Signing a guy who is 30 and could cause a chemistry issue,  to a bigger contract than Roy has does not sit well with me

I think he could have hlped this team but honestly I was not a fan of the guy.  I am very sick of these international players wanting to play in cities with more "culture" and dictating where they can be drafted.  I say we move on to the next one!

I think Turkey Glue will hurt the chemistry on our team. I don't want to go changing the whole team around to bring in one old guy. 5 years is a long contract for him. He's clearly only interested in money. Why would we want a guy on our team solely in it for the money? We need winners... Not ball hogs and greedy jerks. I still have my fingers crossed that we don't end up with him, although it's looking like that's what will happen. Boo Turkoglu!!!!!!!!!!
